The leadership role at the district level plays a crucial part in promoting good governance, particularly in Sorong Utara District, part of Sorong City in Southwest Papua Province. This study focuses on transformational leadership and its impact on fostering motivation among civil servants within a supportive work environment. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the research aims to explore how leadership practices such as empathy, strategy development, guidance, integrity, and transparency influence civil servant motivation in achieving good governance. Findings reveal several challenges for leadership, particularly in upholding discipline, professionalism, and showing empathy towards employees' rights. Effective leadership strategies are required for developing guidance, enhancing integrity, and maintaining transparency, all of which are critical for boosting civil servant motivation. The study highlights that leaders who provide motivation, promote career development, and enable better public service delivery have a significant influence on staff performance. The research also establishes a positive link between civil servant motivation and improved performance. Motivational interventions that focus on optimizing the relationship between employees and their work environment can enhance both productivity and well-being. Ultimately, leaders who prioritize integrity, fairness, and the public interest over personal agendas can inspire staff to achieve organizational goals and help realize good governance.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis demands solutions that are not only rooted in science and policy but also address spiritual and ethical dimensions. Various religious traditions emphasize human responsibility in maintaining ecological balance. This study explores the concept of ecotheology within religious texts—Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism—to understand how religious values can synergize in responding to environmental challenges. Using a religious hermeneutic approach, this research analyzes verses from the Qur'an, the Bible, the Vedas, and the Tripitaka that discuss the human-nature relationship. The findings reveal that all four religions share fundamental principles that emphasize ecological balance, such as the concept of khalifah in Islam, stewardship in Christianity, karma and ahimsa in Hinduism, and the interdependence of living beings in Buddhism. The synergy of these values can serve as an ethical foundation for faith-based environmental movements and sustainable policies. Furthermore, this study examines the role of religious institutions in promoting ecological awareness through education, preaching, and social action. It recommends efforts to reinterpret religious texts to be more contextual to modern ecological challenges and to encourage interfaith collaboration in environmental advocacy. Thus, ecotheology can serve as a multidisciplinary approach that integrates religion, ethics, and ecosystem sustainability in contemporary society.

Abstract

After the COVID-19 pandemic, many organizations asked employees to return to conventional work arrangements. However, the worsening air quality in DKI Jakarta led the government to implement a work from home policy for civil servants. Concerns have arisen about the performance of civil servants if work from home a form of flexible working arrangement, is implemented permanently. Thus, this research is performed to investigate the influence of flexible working arrangement on performance, incorporating technostress as an independent variable and supervisor support as a moderating variable. Using a quantitative method, 507 civil servants in DKI Jakarta who experienced flexible working arrangement for at least six months participated in the study. Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using multiple regression and moderation regression methods. The results revealed that flexible working arrangement positively and significantly influences employee performance. Technostress negatively and significantly affects performance. Supervisor support strengthens the positive impact of flexible working arrangement on performance, but its moderating effect on technostress is non-significant. Thus, while flexible working arrangement improves performance, and technostress hinders it, the negative impact of technostress can be mitigated by supervisor support, reducing its significance. This research underscores the importance of balancing flexible work arrangements with adequate supervisor support to enhance civil servants' performance.
