Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of women in Unilever Indonesia's sustainability communication and to examine indications of greenwashing practices through Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach. The research focuses on two of the company's digital media channels: the official website and the Instagram account @unileveridn, with data spanning from January 2023 to March 2025. The analysis reveals that women are portrayed as agents of social change, empowered entrepreneurs, and symbols of environmental concern. Through visual symbols (such as the color green, environmentally friendly activities, and facial expressions), verbal narratives (keywords such as empowered and sustainable), and the structure of digital campaigns, a myth is constructed that associates women with a natural affinity for sustainability issues. This strategy reinforces the company's image as environmentally conscious and progressive on gender issues. However, the findings also indicate that some content prioritizes symbolic representation over concrete evidence or measurable impact, suggesting the potential presence of greenwashing. The company's sustainability communication appears to focus more on brand legitimacy than on reflecting transparent and ecologically or socially responsible business practices. This study recommends a critical evaluation of sustainability narratives that utilize female imagery, and urges companies to deliver communication that is data-driven and produces tangible impact.

Abstract

This study compares the political participation of people with disabilities in various countries, highlighting the factors that influence their level of involvement in the political process. Although the political rights of people with disabilities have been legally recognised, their implementation in many countries still face various obstacles, such as limited accessibility, lack of awareness, discrimination, and lack of environmental support. This study employs a qualitative method with a comparative approach through literature analysis. The findings reveal that countries with strong affirmative policies, close collaboration between the government and disability organizations, and accessible technological innovations tend to have higher levels of political participation among people with disabilities. Conversely, in countries still grappling with structural and cultural barriers, participation among this group remains low. This study recommends the need to strengthen regulations, improve accessibility, and provide inclusive political education to achieve equal and meaningful political participation of people with disabilities worldwide.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the process of empowering coastal communities through environmental conservation using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach linked with Islamic daʿwah. The research was conducted in Mattiro Langi Village, Sarappo Lompo Island, Pangkep, South Sulawesi, in response to coastal ecosystem degradation caused by household waste. The empowerment strategy was carried out through stages of social mapping, environmental education, formation of PKK mothers’ groups as pioneers of environmental awareness movements, and policy advocacy based on community participation. Throughout the process, a dialogical approach was used to build collective awareness, facilitate critical reflection, and create social transformation through beach clean-up actions, plastic waste management training, and the strengthening of ecological daʿwah. The results indicate an increase in community participation, the emergence of local leaders, and a shift in the community’s paradigm regarding the importance of environmental conservation. This article affirms that integrating participatory approaches, Islamic values, and environmental conservation can serve as a model for sustainable empowerment in coastal areas. The success achieved also forms the basis for recommendations to scale up the program with the support of village institutions.

Abstract

The government continues to refine and strengthen the policy of governance of financial relations between the central and regional governments in order to achieve national goals by enacting Law Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central and Regional Governments, which regulates regional endowment funds. This regulation provides space for the formation of Regional Endowment Funds but also provides limitations with certain criteria. Law Number 1 of 2022 stipulates that the formation must consider, among other things, regional fiscal capacity and the fulfillment of mandatory Government Affairs needs related to basic public services. The objectives of this research areTo determine the urgency of establishing a Regional Endowment Fund. The results of the study show: First, the factors that encourage the formation of DAD, namely 1) The formation of DAD becomes a strategy to ensure the sustainability of long-term and cross-generational regional finances; 2) Optimization of regional spending in regions with established fiscal policies; 3) Encouraging regional investment activities in an effort to increase regional income. Second, the governance scheme in the formation of DAD is the establishment, management, use, and supervision. All of these stages must receive support from all parties, especially regional leaders.

Abstract

This study is based on the principle of meaningful community participation in the process of forming regional regulations, in realizing constitutional rights to obtain equal opportunities at each stage of the process of forming regional regulations. The mandate of the Constitutional Court (MK) Decision Number 91/PUU-XVIII/2020 emphasizes that community participation must be interpreted as the right to be heard, the right to be considered and the right to receive an explanation or answer to the opinion given (right to be explained). This authority is still found to be limited by the community in obtaining information about whether their opinions are rejected or accepted. In fact, this authority is an interpretation of the sovereignty of the people which must be manifested at every level of regional law formation. It shows the need for affirmation of comprehensive and representative meaningful community participation through regional regulations themselves. Collectively, meaningful community participation in the process of forming regions is only understood normatively, which results in the interpretation of meaningful community participation in the process of forming regional regulations only as a formal requirement. The formulation of the problem in this study is (1) How is the regulation of meaningful community participation in the process of forming regional regulations?, (2) What is the mechanism of meaningful community participation in the process of forming regional regulations?, (3) How is the implementation of meaningful community participation in the process of forming regional regulations?. This study uses a normative legal method with a conceptual approach, statue approach and case approach. This paper concludes that the implementation of meaningful community participation in the process of forming regional regulations has not been systematically arranged by the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) over the authority of meaningful communities in the process of forming regional regulations. In Langkat Regency, the implementation of meaningful community participation is only at the recess and public consultation stages or public hearings (RDPU). This paper recommends that the DPRD form a regional regulation in absorbing meaningful community participation. By emphasizing the definition of regional community involvement in a more meaningful direction, and reorganizing the systematics of representative regional institutions in accommodating meaningful community participation in the stages of the process of forming regional regulations.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between inter-agency coordination and the effectiveness of welfare policies through a literature review. Inter-agency coordination is a crucial factor in enhancing synergy, efficiency, and accountability in the implementation of social welfare programmes, thereby minimising duplication and waste of resources. This study examines various literature discussing coordination mechanisms, challenges faced, and their impact on aid distribution and the achievement of social welfare objectives. The results of the study indicate that effective coordination is supported by intensive communication, data integration, visionary leadership, and harmonious regulations. However, obstacles such as differences in interests among institutions, limited resources, and inaccuracy in targeting remain major challenges. This study recommends strengthening the coordination system, improving human resource capacity, and utilising information technology as key strategies to enhance the effectiveness of welfare policies. Thus, solid inter-agency coordination is an important foundation for achieving inclusive, sustainable, and widely impactful welfare policies for society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of lifestyle and foreign brands on the decision to purchase branded second-hand clothing (thrift) in Paiton District, Probolinggo Regency, focusing on students of Nurul Jadid University. The phenomenon of increasing consumption of branded second-hand clothing or thrift among students is not only caused by economic reasons, but also by lifestyle factors that are increasingly oriented towards sustainability and environmental awareness, as well as preferences for international brands that have prestige value. This study applies a quantitative descriptive method involving 100 students as respondents selected through a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires, and the collected data were then analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. 0. The findings of the study indicate that lifestyle and foreign brands have a significant positive influence on thrift purchasing decisions with an R2 value of 0.714, which means that 71.4% of the variation is influenced by these two variables, while the remaining 28.6% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

The General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) is a company organ that holds the highest power in the company and holds all authorities that are not delegated by the directors and commissioners. In the transfer of shares in the Company, a General Meeting of Shareholders must first be held as in accordance with the provisions of Article 56 of Law Number 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies. The objectives of this thesis include analyzing the validity of the GMS in a Limited Liability Company regarding the Transfer of Shares from PPJB that has not been Paid in Full, analyzing the legal consequences of the Sale and Purchase Agreement (PPJB) for PPJB Objects that have not been paid in full in a bankrupt company, and analyzing the judge's considerations in the District Court decision No. 29 / Pdt.SUS-GLL / 2022 / PN.Niaga.Jkt.Pst. The type of research used is Normative Legal Research which will refer to laws and regulations. Normative legal research in this study was carried out using a statute approach and a case approach. The data sources used are Primary Legal Materials (written rules enforced by the state) Secondary Legal Materials (materials in the form of legal reviews) Tertiary Legal Materials (materials that support legal materials, both primary and secondary). Data collection techniques are through legal material literature studies (rechtsmaterialen) and field research through interviews. The results of this thesis research can be concluded firstly the validity of a GMS in a Company can be seen in Law No. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies based on its material and formal elements. Secondly the legal consequences of the Sale and Purchase Agreement (PPJB) for the PPJB Object that has not been paid off in a bankrupt company are null and void, because the payment obligation has not been fulfilled. The three considerations of the judge in the decision were to sentence and order the Defendant (Curator) to remove the Immovable Assets, namely two apartment units owned by the plaintiff, from the Bankruptcy Asset List, as well as to remove them from all documents related to the bankrupt Assets (budel) and to declare that the Curator had committed an Unlawful Act (PMH).
