Abstract

This study examines the role of social media influencers in shaping consumer behavior, specifically focusing on TikTok creator Niky Cu. We explore how persuasive communication, particularly through urgency and social proof, triggers the fear of missing out (FOMO) and influences purchase intentions. Data were collected through an online survey of 400 respondents exposed to the influencer’s content. Findings indicate that message quality and the influencer’s appeal significantly impact FOMO and purchase intention. The results highlight the importance of emotional urgency and social influence in digital marketing, which often drives impulsive buying behavior without thorough consideration.

Abstract

This research focuses on the dynamics of the patrilineal-based customary inheritance system in the Metinaro Sub-District, Dili Municipality, by examining how these inheritance practices shape social structures, reinforce patriarchal dominance, and create gender inequality. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and a literature review of customary and academic sources. The results show that the inheritance system in Metinaro not only transfers physical assets such as land and traditional houses to sons, but also bequeaths socio-spiritual responsibilities recognized through customary rites and the legitimacy of traditional figures. In contrast, women experience structural subordination, with limited access to family assets and merely symbolic involvement in the inheritance process. However, initiatives for change are beginning to emerge among the younger generation, proposing a more inclusive inheritance model, influenced by education, national law Law Number 10 of 2011/Timor-Leste's civil code in article 1888 (Ideas) Succession refers to one or more people who legally own the inheritance of a deceased person to be distributed to others. And modern values. The implications of this research indicate the importance of intergenerational dialogue and the active involvement of traditional leaders as agents of cultural transformation to create a more just and contextual inheritance system.

Abstract

Increasingly fierce competition in the banking industry requires financial institutions, such as Bank Jatim, to effectively manage employee performance. Employee performance is not only influenced by financial indicators, but also by recognition, training, and work motivation. This research aims to analyze the influence of rewards and training on employee performance at Bank Jatim, with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach with an explanatory design was applied, involving 127 employees as respondents. The analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The research results indicate that rewards and training significantly influence employee performance, while work motivation does not show a significant effect as a mediator. This finding provides insights for improving HR policies that focus on recognition and training to enhance employee performance.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of internal communication between management and agents in a traditional insurance company, focusing on Panin Dai-ichi Life Bandung Branch. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with six agent informants, findings reveal a predominantly one-way communication flow with insufficient dialogue, unclear instructions, and a lack of structured feedback, leading to decreased motivation and performance. Agents proposed the establishment of regular two-way communication forums, interpersonal training for managers, and anonymous feedback channels. The study concludes that enhancing internal communication requires a systemic strategy, including leadership transformation and participatory culture. These findings offer a practical framework for developing adaptive and sustainable communication strategies in traditional insurance agencies facing industry competition.

Abstract

The banking industry faces growing competition due to technological advances, shifting consumer behavior, and digital innovation. In this context, the success of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Tulungagung Branch depends on the quality of its human resources (HR), which serve both operational and strategic roles. This study aims to examine the effect of training and competence on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative explanatory research design was applied, involving 70 employees as respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 3.0. The analysis confirmed strong validity and reliability (loading factor 0.731–0.912; Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70). Training and competence explained 70.6% of performance variance and 71.5% of motivation variance. Training significantly influenced motivation, while competence had a significant effect on performance. However, motivation did not significantly affect performance and did not mediate the relationship. Thus, performance enhancement is best achieved through direct training and competency development.

This study applies the 360-degree feedback method, involving evaluations from supervisors, peers, subordinates, self-assessments, and customers. Data were collected from 10 respondents using purposive sampling. Results indicate that this method improves objectivity, provides comprehensive feedback, and helps employees identify their strengths and weaknesses. The findings underscore the method’s potential for fostering a transparent, fairer appraisal system and enhancing employee motivation and organizational performance. This study contributes to the academic literature on performance appraisal systems, particularly within the healthcare sector, by demonstrating the benefits of multi-source feedback in performance evaluation.

Abstract

The Marulak Ari tradition in Mandailing culture is the culmination of the wedding ceremony, involving customary law and connected to Islamic law. This research aims to analyze the tradition from an Islamic legal perspective, using a cultural anthropological approach. The methods used are field research and interviews with local traditional figures, as well as a comparative analysis between customary law and Islamic law. The research findings indicate that although the Marulak Ari tradition holds significant value in Mandailing culture, it contradicts the principles of Islamic law, particularly in the aspects of hifzh al-'aql (preservation of reason) and hifzh al-mal (preservation of wealth). Therefore, this research suggests the need for adjustments so that this tradition can continue to be carried out without contradicting Islamic teachings, by reducing elements that can be mentally and economically detrimental.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Medan District Court Decision Number 907/Pid.B/2020/PN Mdn, in which the wife, Zuraida Hanum, was sentenced to death for the premeditated murder of her husband due to infidelity. The aim is to assess the judge's reasoning behind this decision from both Islamic and criminal law perspectives. Using a normative juridical approach, this research examines primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials to understand the application of Islamic law and criminal law in this case. The findings suggest that the judge’s decision was influenced by the heinous nature of the crime and the intent to provide a deterrent effect. From an Islamic law perspective, the death penalty aligns with the retribution for premeditated murder, while criminal law emphasizes justice and public safety. This case highlights the intersection of legal and moral principles in determining appropriate sentencing.

Abstract

This study examines the organizational transformation of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) in response to Ministerial Regulation (Permensos) Number 2 of 2025, which implements Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 162 of 2024. Shifting from bureaucratic simplification to an emphasis on operational effectiveness and efficiency, this transformation is analyzed using a qualitative method combining document analysis (Permensos 1/2022 and Permensos 2/2025) and in-depth interviews. Key findings indicate the expansion of Kemensos's main structure from eight to ten primary units, notably introducing the Center for Social Welfare Data and Information and the Center for Education, Training, and Professional Development. These changes aim to enhance evidence-based policymaking and strengthen human resource capacity. The restructuring is expected to improve governance through clearer unit functions, faster task implementation, and more professional and accountable service delivery. Theoretically, this study contributes to the discourse on adaptive change management in the public sector. Practically, it offers guidance for governmental reform and serves as a model for other agencies pursuing institutional modernization.
