Abstract

One of the basic competencies in class VIII contains the Pythagorean theorem. Surveys on students who have studied it, they still remember that the proposition is related to a right triangle. Interviews with students who understand the theorem show that they have a formulation of the relationship between the length of the hypotenuse and the side of the right angle. In detail they do not understand why this relationship can occur. That's because they memorized the formula instead of understanding it. For this reason, using the ADDIE development model, through this research a Scientific Learning-Based learning module was developed. This module was developed with the aim of helping self-study students to find their understanding of the Pythagorean theorem. Before being distributed, this module is analyzed to determine the validity and practicality of the module. The results of the study indicate that the module is valid, in accordance with the material, language and also there are scientific learning steps. Then, this module is said to be practical because through observation and interviews, the propositional module has met the criteria for practice assessment including, self-instructional, self-contained, stand-alone, adaptive, and user friendly.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of students to understand concepts in solving story problems. The research subjects were 28 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 8 Merauke. Data collection techniques were carried out in tests of students' abilities in understanding concepts and unstructured interviews. The test used to measure the concepts is in the form of description questions and 4 questions with integer operation material on the story problem. From the data analysis, it was concluded that the students' ability at high ability could master the 6 indicators of concept understanding, students in the moderate category mastered 5 indicators of concept understanding, students in the low category mastered 4 indicators of conceptual understanding. It can be concluded that the students' concept understanding ability is in the medium category.

Abstract

This reseach aims to determine the application effect of guided inquiry laboratory model on students"™ logical thinking ability on the material of heat to electricity conversion. The population in this reseach were all students of class XII MIA at SMA Negeri 15 Bandarlampung for the 2019/2020 academic year. The technique used is purposive sampling, so that the sample in class XII MIA 1 is obtained in the form of a one group pretest-posttest design. The process of collecting data using interview techniques as a preliminary study and through pretest-posttest. The test question used is the Logical Thinking Test which measures five indicator"™s of logical thinking. Hypothesis testing is done by using Paired Sample T-Test. The results of the analysis showed that the average difference between the posttest and pretest scores was 30.80 for all indicators. Data analysis also obtained an average n-gain of 0.55 which is included in the medium category. The n-gain test was also carried out on each indicator and was in the medium category. The variable controlling indicator shows n-gain of 0.65; probabilistic reasoning of 0.66; correlational reasoning of 0.62; proportional reasoning of 0.51; and combinatorial 0,36. Based on the entire analysis test, the results of the reseach showed that there was a significant effect of applying the guided inquiry laboratory model on the students"™ logical thinking ability on the material of heat to electricity conversion.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the entrepreneurial spirit of prospective Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers can be formed with the application of project-based learning models. The type of research used in this study is descriptive quantitative research with sampling techniques in purposive sampling techniques. The sample population selected was Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education UIN Walisongo Semarang semester IV class 2018/2019. The research sample used was class IV A, with 40 students. The free variable in this study is a project-based learning model as aloe vera hand sanitizer, young coconut rotary ice cream, jelly candy, dab soap, character's light sleeper, rainbow ice lolly, making salted eggs with onion flavor and rendang flavor, mosquito repellent candles, making BioLim, and manufacture of pandan-scented candlenut hair oil. In contrast, the tied variable is the student's entrepreneurial spirit. The conclusions showed the entrepreneurial spirit of prospective teachers through a project-based learning model in a suitable category with an average score of 14.1. The biserial correlation formula obtained a value of RB 0.54 and KD of 29.24%. The figure means that the project-based learning model is good enough to contribute to the formation of the entrepreneurial spirit of prospective teachers by 29.24%. Student response to the application of project-based learning models to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of future teachers gives a positive reaction with agreed categories. The average score is 3.6.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the effect of implementing STEM-based modules on students' higher order thinking skills; and (2) the effect of self confidence on students' higher order thinking skills. This study used an experimental method with a one way ANOVA research design. The research sample was 18 students in one class and attended vibration and wave courses. The instrument used to measure students' high-order thinking skills in the form of HOTS test questions in the form of essays totaling 10 questions that have high valid and reliable criteria and a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale to measure student self-confidence. The research data were analyzed statistically which included the N-Gain test, analysis prerequisite test and hypothesis testing. The results showed that significantly, learning using STEM-based modules had an effect on students' higher order thinking skills. The increase in students' higher order thinking skills is higher for the level of creating when compared to the level of analyzing and evaluating. Meanwhile, there is no significant effect of self-confidence on students' higher order thinking abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the needs of teachers and students before the formulation of Riau Malay based ethnomatematics e-module to facilitate student"™s mathematical literacy skills. This research used qualitative descriptive methods that are oriented towards the development of a product. The subject of this research were two mathematics teacher and students of class XI of SMA Nurul Falah Pekanbaru. Data were collected by using interview method and questionnaire distribution. The data obtained were analayzed into three aspects which are analysis of curriculum, analysis of students, and analysis of materials. The result shows that the curriculum that is being used is curriculum 2013. Teaching materials that are being used are textbooks from Erlangga publisher. Result of student"™s analysis shows that 85,7% of students need the exercise about literacy and numeracy in matehmatics subject. 71,4% of students agree that literacy questions in mathematics subjects that contain elements of Riau Malay culture will increase their interest in understanding the problem. The result of this research shows that it is necessary to develop an ethnomathematics e-module based on Riau Malay culture to facilitate student"™s mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

Students experience problems while working in Math, with full of difficulties. They made mistakes in the process of solving questions. The error process that occurred in students leads to the low achievement of the learning outcomes. This research aimed to investigate the mistakes made by MTs students in working on the questions of the Cartesian coordinate integrated with Malay cultural nuances in Riau Province. The study was conducted at MTs in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. A descriptive approach was used as a research method with a purposive sampling technique. This technique used a test and interview to collect research data.  The results of the study described that the errors faced by MTS NurulBilad students included: (1) 55% of misconceptions because students did not understand the concept in the material of Cartesian coordinate (2) procedural errors that 76% of students did not match the stages or steps in the process of drawing on the Cartesian coordinate. Based on the findings, it was hoped that the teacher emphasized more understanding about the concept of Cartesian coordinate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of students of the undergraduate Biology Education program at UIN Walisongo Semarang. This study is descriptive qualitative with a survey method. The number of participants was 96 students of the Biology Education Program from different years. The instruments used were reading scientific articles and tests of the ability to read scientific articles. Data in the form of test answers, given a score and analyzed using the formula mean and percentage, then categorized. The results showed that the student's ability to read research articles was categorized as very low (Counterargument (15.67%) and Refutation (1.8%)), low (Motive (35.62%), Support (23.85), and Implication (28.17)), moderate (Novelty, 52.92%), and high (Objective (75.59%) and Main Conclusion 76.55%)). This research concludes that the ability to read scientific articles of undergraduate biology education students still needs improvement by applying learning methods/models or giving an assignment that can improve the ability to read scientific articles.
