Abstract

The aims of this research were to know the effect activity learning to student learning outcomes used model Discovery Learning with Scaffolding method and outcomes at the material of light. This is research an experimental study with the research design Pre-Experimental. The population this research is student VIII class in State Junior High School 1 Kamal. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Sampling used VIII-I as many 36 students as experimental class. Technique of analyzing data use simple regression with program SPSS version 18.00. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that: there was an effect activity learning to student learning at sig was 0,030, because sig 0.05 so H0 rejected with regression equation Y"™ = 26,882+ 0,660X.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivitas belajar terhadap hasil belajar siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dengan metode Scaffolding pada materi cahaya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pre-eksperimental. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kamal. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji regresi linear sederhana dengan aplikasi SPSS versi 18. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas VIII-I sebanyak 36 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: ada pengaruh aktivitas belajar terhadap hasil belajar siswa dengan sig sebesar 0,030, karena sig 0,05 maka H0 ditolak dengan persamaan regresi Y"™ = 26,882+ 0,660X.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe conceptual understanding and sciences process skills of students through inquiry-based learning. The study was conducted in form of one group pretest-posttest design. Thirty five students of chemistry education program of fkip untan participated. Result showed difference of sciences process skills and conceptual understanding of students, before and after inquiry based-learning. Sciences process skills of students improved from 0% to 52% and 16% to 40% on very skilled and skilled categories respectively. Furthermore, conceptual understanding of students improved from 15% to 89%. To conclude, inquiry-based learning was able to improve conceptual understanding and sciences process skills of students. Abstract

The purpose of physics learning at the school level is directed to develop the students’ thinking skill. This study aimed to improve the students’ critical thinking skill and students’ problem solving skill through aPBL (authenthic Problem Based Learning) learning. This study used classroom action research designed by Kemmis & Mc Taggart with the stages; problem identification, action planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research data were obtained in the form of the data of students’ problem-solving skill and critical thinking. The data in this research were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that the application of aPBL (authentic Problem Based Learning) could  improve the students' critical thinking skill and  students’ problem solving skill. This improvement could be seen from the average score of critical thinking test and problem solving skill test that had been carried out. Keywords: aPBL, thinking skill, physics

Abstract

The problems of incorrect concepts (misconception) often occurred in Biology learning, especially the abstract concepts. This research is aimed to find the misconception occurred in basic concept of First Semester Biology Students in Biology Education Study Program. Explorative description is used in this research. The subject of this research is 21 persons that are first year students 2008/2009. Diagnostic-test in multiple choices with reasonable answers is the instruments of this research. The misconception in first semester students in Biology education is the highest in the respiratory system of living organisms as 90,48%. Students that state sticking and implanting includes in vegetative artificial reproduction is about 85,71%, and red and yellow colors in Bougainville flower in corolla and calyx is about 80,95%. The cause of misconception is reading book and the explanation they accept. By the early finding of the misconception occurred in students, it is suggested the teachers that teach Basic Biology or related with the concept; the vegetative artificial reproduction, respiration, photosynthesis, dependency among living organisms, and flower morphology so it can be chosen appropriate and price method/strategy in making the lecturing process.Keyword: Misconception, Basic Concept Biology

Abstract

 This study aims to determine whether there is difference and influence of Integral Calculus practical activity based on WxMaxima application on students concept comprehension ability. This research uses experimental method, with posttest only control design. Research data in the form of ability test comprehension concept of math given after practicum activity given during 8 times meeting. The data of the research were analyzed using the t-test to see whether there was a difference, and effect size to see the magnitude of influence. The result of the research shows that: (1) there is a difference of concept comprehension ability among students who follow Integral Calculus based on WxMaxima application with those who do not follow lab; (2) there is influence of the use of Integral Calculus practical module based on WxMaxima application to students' concept comprehension ability and magnitude of influence is high category.

Abstract

This research is aimed to determine the effectivity of cooperative learning model through Numbered Heads Together (NHT) by visual media on students’ achievement in material life organization of VII grade SMP Rehoboth. The research is quasi experimental design, with nonequivalen control group design. The research samples are VIIa and VIIb grade. The technique of data collecting is by using random sampling. The average score of the students’ achievement that has been teach by using Numbered Heads Together (NHT) of cooperative learning model with visual media is 14,89 as higher than the conventional model of 11,29. The t-test in standard 5%  shows tcount= 5,023 bigger than its comparation to ttable = 1,679, it means there is a significant difference in the post-test result.  The counting of effect size is 1,27 it includes high, so the concluded that Numbered Heads Together (NHT) of cooperative learning model with visual media gave 39,80% of contribution on students’ achievement.Key words : Numbered heads together, visual media.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are 1) to determine difference of conceptual understanding of SMA 2 Pontianak students before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model on colloid subject matter, and 2) to describe conceptual understanding of SMAN 2 Pontianak Students before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model on colloid material. This study was conducted in form of pre experimental design. Independent variables were learning before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model. Dependent variable was students conceptual understanding. To collect data, assessment technique was applied and achievement test was used to get data. Data were analyzed by means of inferential and descriptive statistic. Result of statistic showed P-value = 0,000 < α = 0.05 which means that there was a difference of students conceptual understanding before and after being taught through 5E learning cycle model on colloid subject matter. Improvement of students conceptual understanding was 0,31 which means on average level. Key words: conceptual understanding, 5E learning cycle model.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to know about the quality of the waters from the structure of community and level of diversity plankton on three zones vertically with variety salinity on labuan cermin, at Biduk-biduk, Kalimantan Timur. The sample is taken by used method purposive sampling. The data acquired and showed in profusion plankton form, index abundance, index diversity, index evenness, and index dominance. The plankton has found during the research is 79 genera classified in 46 family and 13 class. The index abundant is on station A is the highest than the other station. On the average of index diversity of station A higher than station B and C in value about 2,3026. Index evenness revolve from 0,1870 to 0,8281. Index dominance revolve about 0,1171 to 0,7885. Abstract

Tulisan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa pengalaman dalam pengajaran. Pertama, sering terjadi kegagalan dalam pembelajaran karena tidak disadari bahwa komunikasi yang terjadi berjalan tak efektif. Kedua, kemampuan berkomunikasi yang sangat berpengaruh diduga dari pengajar, ternyata terjadi dua arah yakni pengajar dan peserta didik. Ketiga, kemampuan komunikasi ternyata dapat dilatih dan kemampuan komunikasi perlu penyesuian. Sebagian dari kondisi di atas bermuara pada komunikasi yang kurang terasah dan terlatih sehingga berjalan kurang efektif. Bila komunikasi yang terjadi kurang efektif dapat berakibat pada kemandirian belajar peserta didik tak memadai. Karena melalui komunikasi yang efektif diharapkan tujuan-tujuan dalam pembelajaran dapat tercapai. Kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang baik tentunya dapat dilakukan bila percaya diri pada peserta didik ada. Karena itu, salah satu upaya membangun percaya diri peserta didik dapat dilakukan dengan cara meningkatkan kemandirian peserta didik. Kata Kunci: Kemandirian belajar, komunikasi matematik, dan nilai

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to determine the composition and structure of Semayang forest and the Importance Value Index (IVI) of riparian forest in its role of reducing the wave rate. The method used is multilevel plot method of 20x20 m for sampling of tree level, 5x5 m for sapling level and 2x2 m for seedling level. The result showed that the highest Importance Value Index at tree level was dominated by 3 species, they were L. javanicum (101,663), M. speciosa (76,201) and G. renghas (65,962). At sapling level dominated by P. indica (102,990). At seedling level dominated by M. pigra (95,004)andP. brevistipitata (70,109). In addition, Semayang riparian forest has an ecological function as a wave retaining. It can be seen based on the vegetation density and horizontal structure of species that make up the forest. Vegetation density is predicted to reduce the rate of Semayang lake waves that occur during flood season. Keywords: Composition and Structure, Riparian Forest, Semayang Lake.
