Abstract

Chemistry education is often perceived as difficult by students due to the abstract and complex nature of its concepts, especially in linking macroscopic phenomena to submicroscopic levels. This study aims to identify the trends and effectiveness of the integration of mobile applications in chemistry education and their impact on student motivation and understanding. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PRISMA protocol. From an initial search of 193 articles on Google Scholar and Scopus from 2020 to 2026, 13 articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected for further analysis. The results show that the use of technologies such as Augmented reality (AR), Virtual laboratories, Simulations, and Game-based learning significantly enhances student engagement and facilitates 3D molecular structure visualization. However, technical challenges such as device limitations, smartphone sensor accuracy, and the still-limited coverage of topics remain major barriers. This study concludes that mobile applications are an effective complement to traditional teaching methods in creating a more inclusive and interactive learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of a test instrument using the Rasch model with the assistance of the QUEST software. The analysis was conducted on ten test items developed as a learning evaluation tool. The results showed that only five items received responses from students and could be analyzed quantitatively. These five items demonstrated conformity with the Rasch model, as indicated by INFIT MNSQ values within the acceptable range and OUTFIT t values that met the item fit criteria. The analysis of item difficulty revealed that the instrument contained a range of difficulty levels, including easy, difficult, and very difficult items. However, the item reliability and person reliability values were classified as low, indicating that the consistency of the instrument and the stability of the measurement results were not yet optimal. In addition, several items did not function properly because they did not receive any student responses and therefore lacked empirical validity. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the developed test instrument does not yet fully meet the criteria of a high-quality learning evaluation tool and still requires improvement, particularly in terms of item quality and instrument reliability.

Abstract

The increasing amount of household organic waste, such as onion peels, chili stems, and coffee grounds, requires effective management through its utilization as liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). This study aims to analyze the production process of liquid organic fertilizer and determine the nutrient content of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) as indicators of fertilizer quality. This study employed an experimental method with a qualitative descriptive approach through an anaerobic fermentation process using EM4 and molasses for 10-14 days. The object of the study was liquid organic fertilizer produced from household organic waste, including onion peels, chili stems, and coffee grounds. Data were collected through direct observation during the fermentation process and laboratory testing of nutrient content. Data analysis was conducted descriptively through the interpretation of observational results and laboratory tests on nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) content. The results showed that the fermentation process proceeded optimally, indicated by a dark brown color change, a fresh acidic odor, and decomposed material texture. Laboratory test results revealed that potassium was the dominant nutrient compared to nitrogen and phosphorus. Although the nutrient content has not yet met national standards, the resulting liquid organic fertilizer has the potential to be used as an environmentally friendly supplementary fertilizer to support household organic waste management and sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Science learning in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data necessitates the development of students’ data literacy as an essential 21st-century competency. However, students’ data literacy remains underdeveloped, particularly in terms of data analysis and utilization in learning contexts. This study aims to examine students’ data literacy profile in AI-, learning analytics-, and ethnoscience-based science learning. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, involving eighth-grade junior high school students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire validated for reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.871) and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores and categorical classification. The results indicate that students’ data literacy was categorized as moderate (mean = 2.92), and learning analytics was also categorized as moderate (mean = 2.91), while artificial intelligence (mean = 3.23) and ethnoscience (mean = 3.23) were categorized as high. These findings suggest that students are able to utilize technology and understand scientific concepts within local contexts; however, their ability to analyze and use data remains underdeveloped. These findings imply the importance of designing science learning in a more structured manner to promote data analysis activities through the contextual and meaningful integration of AI, learning analytics, and ethnoscience.
