Abstract

The use of tomato waste as an effort to reduce the accumulation of organic waste and environmental pollution due to textile dyeing requires mordantt material as a color fixer. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of iron Fe(SO₄) mordantt in dyeing cotton fabrics using natural dyes from tomato waste extract. The research was carried out by an experimental method, namely by dyeing textiles in the form of cotton cloth with dyeing techniques using the results of tomato waste extracts with variations in mordantt iron concentrations, namely 0%, 2%, 5%, and 7%. The staining results were analyzed using a spectrodensitometer to measure the CIEL*a*b* value and test the color fastness to light. The results showed that 7% iron mordant produced the most intense red-yellow color with an L* value of 64.38, an a* value of 28.7, and a b* value of 51.22. The staining results with a 7% iron mordantt had a very good color fade resistance value (scale 4-5), while the sample without a mordant had a very poor fade resistance (ΔE=25.19). Iron mordant Fe(SO₄) has been proven to have good effectiveness in producing more intense colors in fabric dyeing results and increasing color fastness in textile dyeing results with tomato waste extract.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of product information quality, customer reviews and ratings, seller reputation, and transaction security on consumer trust, and how that trust affects purchase intention for children's clothing on e-commerce platforms. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey involving 114 respondents who had previously purchased children’s clothing online. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. The results reveal that all predictor variables significantly affect consumer trust, which in turn significantly increases purchase intention. These findings highlight the importance of transparent information, reliable security systems, and strong seller reputation supported by authentic reviews in fostering trust and encouraging online purchases, particularly in the children's fashion segment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to interpret the decorative motifs of the Tapis Lampung Raja Medal to reveal the meaning of the text using the Nusantara hermeneutic theory approach. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method through the Nusantara hermeneutic theory approach, namely ma'nā-cum-maghzā from Sahiron Syamsudin. The results of this study reveal that the Tapis Raja Medal has a literal meaning of the text, historical and dynamic phenomenal significance. This meaning is broadly related to the relationship between leaders and people who are jointly responsible for realizing a peaceful, prosperous and faithful life in God the Universe. Interpretation of artifacts from the ancestors of Indonesian craftsmen should be done through the application of hermeneutic theory from Nusantara figures who have closer cultural ties and perspectives than those from the Western world. This can enrich the range of perspectives on interpreting the meaning and philosophy of Nusantara cultural artifacts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how a literary character can be systematically translated into tailored garment design through a practice-based research approach. The research focuses on the character Hua Cheng from the Chinese historical fantasy novel “Heaven Official’s Blessing” and explores how narrative elements such as devotion, sacrifice, protection, and power can be embedded into tailoring structure. A qualitative, practice-based design research method was employed, in which the act of designing functioned as both the research process and the research outcome. Data were generated through the development of a moodboard, an influence page, and two technical sheets representing a tailored jacket and tailored pants. Analysis was conducted using reflective and interpretive techniques, examining how narrative intentions were transformed into visual and structural design decisions. The results show that literary narratives can be effectively translated into tailored garments through design elements such as fitted silhouettes, exaggerated shoulder structures, hybrid collar construction, and recurring triangular cutting and pocket details that symbolize pain and repeated sacrifice. The study demonstrates that tailoring can function as a narrative medium and provides a clear method for translating literary characters into contemporary fashion design.

Abstract

Cotton fabric preparation, comprising desizing, scouring, and bleaching, critically determines fabric quality prior to dyeing and finishing. This study investigated the effects of preparation process sequencing and multifunctional auxiliary concentration (Clarite One) on the physical properties of lightweight cotton fabric, including tear strength, absorbency, and whiteness index. C41166 cotton fabric was processed using three preparation methods: three-step, two-step, and one-step (simultaneous) systems, combined with Clarite One concentrations of 4, 8, and 10 g/L. Physical properties were evaluated according to SNI ISO 13937-1 (tear strength), AATCC 197 (absorbency), and AATCC 110 (whiteness). Data were analyzed using two-factor ANOVA followed by the Newman–Keuls post hoc test at a 95% confidence level. The results demonstrated that both process sequencing and auxiliary concentration significantly affected fabric performance. The optimum condition was achieved using the one-step method with 4 g/L Clarite One, producing the highest tear strength, adequate absorbency, and whiteness meeting commercial standards. Furthermore, the one-step process improved operational efficiency by reducing processing time and chemical consumption, highlighting its potential for enhancing productivity and sustainability in industrial cotton pretreatment

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of transforming the architectural ornaments of the Koutoubia Mosque into avant-garde fashion designs through the application of fabric manipulation techniques (flounce and embroidery), and to describe the final avant-garde garments resulting from the transformation of the Koutoubia Mosque ornaments using fabric manipulation techniques. The Double Diamond method consists of four stages: discover, define, develop, and deliver. In the discover stage, sources of inspiration were explored. The define stage involved the development of visual concepts and sources of inspiration. The develop stage included design development and the realization process. The deliver stage represented the final phase of the overall design process. Data were obtained using observation sheets assessed by three fashion experts, based on the Guttman scale and analyzed descriptively. The observation results showed that the transformation process of ornaments through flounce manipulation achieved 66.6% because the source of inspiration still needed further exploration, whereas embroidery was successfully transformed, reaching 100%. The avant-garde fashion outcomes in terms of design elements, design principles, and avant-garde characteristics achieved 100% success in representing the architectural ornaments of the Koutoubia Mosque into avant-garde fashion designs using fabric manipulation techniques of flounce and embroidery.
