Abstract

The incidence of accidents and occupational diseases is still quite high. Various ship incidents include sinking, collision, fire, aground, people falling overboard, steering damage, and pollution at sea. as well as work accidents during duty on the ship, generally caused by human factors or human error. The purpose of this study is to find out the emergency drills on the ship, based on SOLAS on the KMP Jatra 2 ship and to find out how to handle problems in maximizing job training to each crew member according to SOLAS and SOP regulations. The results of this study found that emergency training on board KMP Jatra 2 is not running properly due to lack of consistency in following the SOP and SOLAS standards that have been set. To deal with this problem, several steps need to be taken, namely good HR policies, implementation of a punishment system for undisciplined crew members, regular training and realistic simulation of emergency situations, continuous supervision and evaluation of training implementation.

Abstract

Main bearings are made from special metal materials that are resistant to hot engine friction. The main bearing has holes in several parts which function to allow fluid (lubricating oil) to flow. Metal sitting is two plates that have a very smooth surface and consist of several layers of metal that have different hardness. The main bearing is a very vital part to support the performance of the crankshaft. The aim of this research is to determine the factors that cause damage to main bearings in diesel generator motors. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method using observation, interviews and documentation methods and using the fishbone analysis method. The results obtained from this research show that the causes of damaged main bearings in diesel generator motors are decreased lubricating oil pressure, lack of understanding of maintenance procedures and fatigue of the seated metal component materials.

Abstract

Work safety equipment is a tool used in work activities on ships and ship maintenance by crew members, where activities on ships have a high risk of accidents. One of the protection efforts for crew members is to optimize the use of work safety equipment to support zero accidents. The rationale for this research is that all activities on board a ship have potential and dangerous factors that allow work accidents to occur, so it is necessary to identify these potential and dangerous factors. One effort to control risk for crew members is by implementing the use of work safety equipment and implementing safety meetings. This risk control is carried out after controlling the psychology and administration of crew members, so as to create a safe working environment on board the ship. This research was carried out using qualitative methods which provide an overview of the implementation of the use of personal protective equipment. Data collection was based on observations and interviews as well as literature studies and then analyzed using the fishbone method and compared with applicable standards and regulations.

Abstract

Analysis of Causes and Treatment of Leaks Pipe in the Process of Loading and Discharging Liquid Bulk Commodities Types of Fuel: Case Study at Tanjung Wangi Port. Pipe leaks in the process of loading and discharging liquid bulk commodities, types of fuel, at Tanjung Wangi Port are serious problem that needs to be handled quickly and effectively. Pipe leaks can cause significant financial losses, environmental damage and danger to public health. This research aims to analyze the causes of pipe leaks during the loading and unloading process of liquid bulk commodities such as fuel oil at Tanjung Wangi port and identify effective solutions for handling these leaks. The research was carried out using qualitative analysis methods. The research results show that the causes of pipe leaks can come from human factors, such as errors in the loading and unloading process or pipe operation. Apart from that, technical factors such as wear and corrosion on pipes can also cause leaks. To handle pipe leaks, this research recommends implementing preventive measures which include routine maintenance, use of corrosion-resistant pipe materials, as well as high training and awareness for officers involved in the loading and unloading process. Apart from that, this research also suggests the use of sophisticated leak detection technology to detect leaks early and reduce the impact they cause.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes of the decline in fresh water production on the Fresh Water Generator on the MV. Lumoso Karunia II. Researchers conducted this research for 12 months and 5 days conducted on the MV. Lumoso Karunia II which is a type of Bulk Carrier ship which is a ship owned by PT Lumoso Pratama Line Company. This research method uses quantitative methods. Researchers use secondary data in the form of library books, journals and documents related to this research, while primary data in this study is in the form of direct field studies. Data collection techniques in this study are library research, direct and indirect observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the performance of the fresh water generator auxiliary aircraft is less than optimal so that what is produced does not match the amount of capacity due to lack of maximum maintenance. With the thickness of scale attached to the evaporator pipe of 1.85 mm, it causes blockage of the evaporator pipe. Thus, there is a decrease in intake in the evaporator. So, the decrease in intake in the evaporator resulted in a decrease in fresh water production of 16 m3 tons in the fresh water generator. As a result of the decrease in fresh water production in the fresh water generator at MV. Lumoso Karunia II is a shortage of fresh water in accommodation and disruption of the cooling process in machinery.

Abstract

The aim of this thesis research is to understand loading and unloading services and the obstacles faced as well as efforts to minimize these obstacles. The method used is a qualitative research method, where the method is obtained from data based on information or surrounding phenomena in the form of in-depth observations and interviews. The results of this research explain dry bulk loading and unloading services with the procedures and service procedures that apply at JIIPE port. The obstacles faced and efforts to minimize these obstacles are 1) obstacles from waiting for trucks are carried out by coordinating with the truck fleet owner or with the owner of the goods so that there is no waiting time for trucks. 2) obstacles to equipment damage are carried out by means of regular reports regarding equipment maintenance. 3) obstacles from short cargo which is done by checking dry bulk loading and unloading calculations. 4) obstacles from bad weather which is carried out by monitoring weather conditions through ship navigation equipment.

Abstract

This research aims to Optimize the Prevention of the Occurrence of Shipwreck Hazard of MV Meratus Kariangau when Entering the Narrow Shipping Channel of the Barito River. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. For primary data collection techniques obtained from the results of interviews and observations, while for secondary data collection techniques obtained from tidal data in the Barito river, then from journals related to this research, books and others. The results of this study indicate are a). Indication of overdraft when entering the narrow shipping channel, b). Lack of attention to UKC and Tidal Tables, c). Human error from the watch officer who did not pay attention to the tide list. Preparations that must be made by the MV. Meratus Kariangau before entering the narrow shipping channel of the Barito river to avoid the danger of running aground are a) The duty officer and the skipper must operate the navigation equipment on the ship, for example Radar, Echo sounder, GPS. b) The duty officer prepares a map of the narrow shipping channel to be passed. c) The duty officer asks the Engine Control Room (ECR) to ensure that the engine is ready to pass through the narrow shipping channel d) The duty officer calculates the UKC and Squat on the shipping channel to be passed e) The crew conducts a grounding drill to know their duties and responsibilities when running aground f) The skipper and duty officer apply P2TL rule 9 on Narrow channel.
