Journal of Education Research is a peer-refereed open-access journal which has been established for the dissemination of state of the art knowledge in the field of education. This Journal is published for time per year at March, June, September and December by Perkumpulan Pengelola Jurnal PAUD Indonesia. It is intended to be the journal for publishing original articles on the latest issues and trends occurring in education curriculum, instruction, learning, policy, and preparation of teachers with the aim to advance our knowledge of education theory and practice. Moreover, this journal also covers the issues concerned with environmental education. All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by editors and are then evaluated by a minimum of two reviewers through the blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the published manuscripts in the journal. Abstract

Rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa sekolah dasar, yang ditandai dengan kurangnya kelancaran, kepercayaan diri, dan keruntutan penyampaian cerita, menjadi permasalahan krusial yang membutuhkan solusi inovatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan metode bercerita teknik The Mountain terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas III sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan desain pre-experimental dengan pola one-group pretest-posttest, melibatkan 27 siswa kelas III sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes unjuk kerja berbicara, lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi pembelajaran. Analisis data menggunakan uji paired sample t-test dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata keterampilan berbicara dari 55,71 (pretest) menjadi 80,25 (posttest), dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Aktivitas guru terlaksana 100% pada kedua pertemuan, sementara aktivitas siswa meningkat dari 68,5% menjadi 88,1%. Temuan ini mengimplikasikan bahwa metode bercerita teknik The Mountain secara signifikan efektif meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa dan dapat dijadikan alternatif metode pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media visual berbasis Dual Coding Theory guna meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa tunarungu di sekolah dasar. Keterbatasan akses auditori menyebabkan rendahnya pemerolehan kosakata, sehingga diperlukan media visual yang sistematis dan berbasis pada teori kognitif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang meliputi tahap analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa tunarungu kelas I–II di dua Sekolah Luar Biasa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, validasi ahli, serta pretest dan posttest, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa media “Semua Tentang Saya (STS)” sangat layak (ahli materi 92%, ahli media 90%) dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kosakata (p < 0,05). Secara teoretis, penelitian ini menguatkan peran integrasi visual-verbal dalam Dual Coding Theory, serta secara praktis menyediakan media pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan aplikatif bagi guru SLB.

Abstract

Globalisasi yang berkembang pesat membawa ancaman terhadap melemahnya budaya lokal pada generasi muda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan, menganalisis, dan mengeksplorasi literasi siswa SMA serta kontribusinya terhadap penguatan identitas budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis etnografi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahap kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa literasi budaya siswa berada pada kategori cukup baik pada aspek kognitif, namun masih memerlukan penguatan dalam pemaknaan nilai-nilai filosofis budaya. Minat dan keterlibatan siswa dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan sekolah, dukungan keluarga, serta motivasi intrinsik. Implementasi literasi budaya melalui integrasi pembelajaran dan kegiatan berbasis budaya terbukti mendorong terbentuknya sikap bangga, kepedulian, serta partisipasi aktif siswa dalam pelestarian budaya, sehingga berkontribusi secara signifikan dalam memperkuat identitas budaya sebagai bagian dari pembentukan karakter generasi muda di tengah dinamika modernisasi.

Abstract

The microfinance sector in Cambodia has grown rapidly, expanding access to finance for micro-entrepreneurs and low-income households. In the 1990s, it was primarily managed by international non-governmental organizations and significantly contributed to the country’s economic growth, particularly in the education sector. Student loans, furthermore, provided by banks were identified as an important program to help low-income students access higher education. Student loans are especially important for socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, offering opportunities for higher education. However, student loans are rarely discussed in academic literature, specifically their benefits. This study aims to explore the benefits of student loans in Cambodia. To attain the objective, the study utilized a qualitative approach employing a purposive sample. One-on-one interviews were conducted with three experienced officers from the student loan program. The data were analyzed using thematic coding, drawing from both the literature review and emerging patterns.  The results identified four main advantages: (1) Access to higher education; (2) Gain financial responsibility; (3) Invest in human capital, and (4) Reduced family financial pressure. Overall, the study required comprehensive support from the banking sector and higher education institutions in providing more accessible information to students from low-income families. The relevant stakeholders can continue to enhance educational equity for all students, ensuring they have equal opportunities to excel academically and contribute to the human capital development goal, which is essential for supporting Cambodia’s vision by 2030 and 2050.

Abstract

Social and emotional development is one aspect of development that must be a primary focus. This is because from an early age, children are expected to be able to live socially, such as having a responsible attitude, working together, feeling empathy towards others, and communicating. This article presents a systematic literature review that aims to determine the effect of music learning in stimulating the development of social and emotional skills in early childhood. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Literature was obtained from electronic databases, namely Google Scholar, journal articles that match the Population, Issue, Output (PIO), children aged 3-5 years, full-text journal manuscripts; research articles with qualitative and quantitative studies that use music as a main component for the development of social and emotional skills in early childhood. The journals used were published in 2022-2026. Article selection was carried out using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. A total of 715 articles were considered relevant to the topic, 7 articles were included based on the inclusion criteria. The results of the study show that music learning is effective in improving children's ability to express and regulate emotions, in addition to that, music learning can also improve social interaction, cooperation and empathy.

Abstract

This study investigates the systemic shortfall in achieving graduate profile dimensions, particularly regarding character-based competencies such as faith, ethical conduct, and independence. It evaluates the strategic influence of co-curricular management and extracurricular Quranic memorization programs in bridging these developmental gaps within public junior high schools in Sijunjung District. Employing a quantitative correlational framework, data were elicited from 103 teachers selected through stratified random sampling ($N = 140$). The analytical path involved rigorous validity and reliability testing, followed by simple and multiple linear regression models.The findings reveal that: (1) structured co-curricular management significantly enhances the graduate profile, accounting for a 35–45% variance in its development; (2) extracurricular Quranic programs contribute 30–40% to character outcomes; and (3) the integrated management of both variables yields a synergistic effect, explaining up to 65% of the total influence. These results suggest that character internalization is most effective when administrative planning and spiritual activities are inextricably linked within a sustainable school ecosystem. Practically, the study underscores the necessity for educational stakeholders to institutionalize integrated program evaluations to ensure student character development aligns with national standards.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of listening comprehension difficulties experienced by junior high school students, the underlying factors contributing to these difficulties, and the strategies employed by teachers to address them. Listening plays a crucial role in English language learning as it supports learners in understanding spoken information accurately. However, many students still encounter significant challenges in listening activities. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method involving 15 eighth-grade students of SMP Swasta Asga Mandiri Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through a listening test and a questionnaire, each consisting of 15 items. The findings revealed that students’ listening comprehension ability was relatively low, with a mean score of 52. The major difficulties included limited vocabulary, problems in recognizing pronunciation and different accents, lack of concentration, poor audio quality, and difficulty in understanding long sentences. These findings indicate that listening comprehension problems are complex and interrelated. Therefore, teachers need to implement more adaptive strategies, such as providing clearer audio materials, using contextualized listening activities, and strengthening vocabulary instruction systematically. The study implies that listening instruction should be designed in a structured, interactive, and needs-based manner to improve students’ learning outcomes effectively.
