Abstract

The decline of substantive religiosity among adolescents is an important issue in religious education, considering its impact on character formation and morality. This study aims to analyze and compare the level of substantive religiosity across four types of secondary schools in Bandung: State Junior High School, Private Junior High School, State Tsanawiyah Madrasah, and Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah. Data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA test and the Tukey HSD post hoc test. The results showed significant differences in substantive religiosity between types of schools, F(3,438)=10.04, p = 0,001. Post hoc tests confirmed that Private Tsanawiyah Madrasah students showed significantly higher substantive religiosity than students in other schools. The biggest difference is seen in the ritualistic dimension, followed by the consequential dimension, while the ideological dimension shows minimal differences between schools. Although the structure and type of school influence substantive religiosity, particularly ritual practices, the gap between knowledge and behavior remains small in all schools. This indicates that external factors, such as family support, peer influence, and social media, are significant in shaping religious values into actual behaviors. This research emphasizes the importance of a holistic and collaborative approach involving family, peers, and community in developing substantive religiosity in adolescents.

Abstract

This study investigates the transformation process of Wonosari Village, Gunungkidul Regency, towards achieving its status as a Cultural Village (Desa Budaya). The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods encompassing participant observation and in-depth interviews with 15 key informants. The central research focus is to answer: How do the roles of actors and the forms of cultural capital drive cultural preservation and the creative economy in Wonosari?. The findings indicate that Wonosari Village has more than 45 active cultural groups, reflecting a rich array of traditional arts, customs, and local culinary heritage. Culture is understood as social and economic capital that can spur creative economic growth and strengthen local identity. Cultural preservation in this region involves multi-stakeholder synergy, ranging from the village government, the DIY Regional Culture Office, art communities, and formal educational institutions, which function as facilitators, curators, and agents of cultural value transmission. However, cultural preservation faces four primary obstacles: modernization, insufficient regulation, limited funding, and weak documentation. Preservation strategies are directed towards strengthening cultural institutions, community participation, leveraging village funds (dana desa), and digital-based documentation. This study emphasizes the importance of collaborative and community-based approaches in positioning culture as the main axis of inclusive, sustainable, and competitive village development.

Abstract

This study examines the development of a religious- and culture-based educational management model implemented at the Ar Rahmah Student Pesantren in Surabaya. The central problem addressed is the lack of integrated educational systems in many Islamic institutions, which tend to separate academic learning, spiritual formation, and practical competence, leaving graduates who fall short of contemporary needs for mosque leadership. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and were processed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings show that Ar Rahmah successfully integrates undergraduate studies, a 30-juz tahfidz program, and mosque management practice into a 24-hour learning ecosystem supported by pesantren culture and transformational leadership. The model strengthens students’ spirituality, discipline, and professional competence. The study recommends further empirical evaluation involving alum career outcomes. In conclusion, the Ar Rahmah model represents an effective and replicable form of values-based Islamic educational management.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explain and show how self-efficacy relates to the mathematical reasoning ability of sixth-grade students at SD Islam Kamila Insan Cita. This study used a quantitative method with a correlational design. The study took place at SD Islam Kamila Insan Cita and involved all 19 sixth-grade students. Data were collected using questionnaires and tests. To analyze the data and test the research hypothesis, the Pearson product-moment correlation formula was applied. The findings revealed a relationship between self-efficacy and mathematical reasoning ability among sixth-grade students of SD Islam Kamila Insan Cita. This conclusion is supported by the detected significance value, which is below the predetermined significance limit (0.001 <0.05), and the correlation coefficient of 0.688. The impact of variable X on variable Y is 47.33%, while the other 52.67% is influenced by various factors that are not examined.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of bedtime stories in early childhood families in the Industry 4.0 era, where digital media increasingly influences literacy practices at home. Using a descriptive mixed-method design (survey of 30 parents and semi-structured interviews), this study describes how often families engage in bedtime stories, the media they use, and their perceptions of the benefits of this practice. The results show variations in consistency in practice, with 37% of parents doing it regularly (≥3 times per week) and 33% occasionally (1-2 times per week), while 13% reported never doing it. The majority, 60% of parents use printed picture books as their primary medium, followed by digital story videos (30%). Regarding perceived benefits, most parents rated bedtime stories as very beneficial for improving vocabulary and language skills (87%) and strengthening emotional bonds (50%). Interview data reinforced these findings, while highlighting a decline in reading routines due to parental fatigue or limited time (67%) and children’s preference for gadgets (40%) as key challenges. This study implies the need for school-family collaboration, such as providing weekly reading guides, and recommends the development of parent-supported to maintain interactive literacy practices in modern families.

Abstract

This study explores how the kiai at Pondok Pesantren Modern Al-Mashduqiah integrates spiritual leadership with strategic management practices to maintain pesantren identity while adapting to modernization and digital transformation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 12 key informants, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings highlight four key themes: first, the kiai upholds organizational culture through sufistic values like sincerity and discipline; second, strategic planning is participatory, involving senior teachers and administrative staff; third, selective adoption of digital innovations, such as e-learning modules and online monitoring, enhances efficiency while preserving cultural authenticity; and fourth, the kiai's dual role as both spiritual guide and manager fosters an adaptive, cohesive organizational climate. The study offers insights into value-based strategic leadership in Islamic education and provides practical recommendations for improving governance and digital integration in pesantren.

Abstract

This study explores bunthato, a Gorontalo cultural tradition in which the first income earned from daily labour is intentionally set aside for charitable purposes, and examines its relevance to strengthening zakat, infak, and sadaqah (ZIS) practices. The research seeks to understand how bunthato is interpreted and practised in contemporary Muslim life, and how its ethical values may inform culturally rooted ZIS governance. Data were collected over three months through in-depth interviews with 14 informants (religious leaders, customary leaders, market traders, fishermen, civil servants, and ZIS institutional representatives), supported by observation and document review. Data were thematically coded, and a conceptual model was developed through synthesis of emergent themes and supporting literature. Findings show that bunthato reflects a moral economy grounded in gratitude, solidarity, and amanah, functioning as a voluntary micro-philanthropy that complements institutional ZIS. The study proposes the Bunthato–ZIS Integrated Cultural Philanthropy Framework, positioning local wisdom as a bridge to accountable, culturally resonant Islamic philanthropy. Future research should pilot this framework to assess behavioural and institutional impact.

Abstract

Qiyas appears as an intellectual method that operates in several fields at once: usul fiqh, nahwu, and modern linguistics, in which process it has undergone a shift in orientation from a relatively closed normative model to a more creative model that is more adaptive to contemporary socio-linguistic changes. Challenges Industrial development, globalization, and technology have made the role of ta'rib (Arabization) crucial as a process of incorporating foreign words or new concepts into Arabic through qiyas nahwi. This study focuses on the dynamics of qiyas according to classical and contemporary linguists and discusses qiyas patterns and what needs to be used as a reference in developing qiyas as a means of ta'rib. The results of this study indicate that the orientation of qiyas by Nahwu scholars emphasizes the preservation of language purity by generalizing from selected fasih kalām, thus tending to reject syādz forms as aṣl and limiting linguistic creativity. Meanwhile, in modern linguistics and Majma‘ practice, the challenges of the times demand openness and new rules that are more flexible, open, and applicable. The reconstruction of qiyas in contemporary ta'rib has four main points: the purpose of qiyas is directed at maintaining the vitality and expressive power of fusha as the language of science and civilization; sources are canonical and innovative; the inclusion of modern elements that are already stable in the pillars; and the role of authoritative institutions and popularity in the operation of ta'rib.
