Abstract

Learning challenges in rural areas are often overlooked in educational literature, yet identifying student needs is the foundation for targeted guidance and counseling interventions. This study aims to identify and analyze learning barriers faced by junior high school students in Lubuk Cemara Village and to formulate proactive guidance and counseling strategies. A quantitative descriptive approach was used in this study, involving 32 eighth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected using the PTSDL series Problem-Uncovering Tool (AUM) and processed using descriptive analysis techniques to map the distribution of problems across five main components. The results showed that student learning challenges were dominated by technical barriers in the Learning Skills aspect with an average score of 75.6, and structural barriers in the Learning Facilities and Environment aspects with average scores of 13.3 and 22.1, respectively. These findings confirm that the main obstacles for students lie not in intellectual capacity, but rather in methodological unpreparedness and limited supporting ecosystems. The implications of this study require a paradigm shift in guidance and counseling services from a responsive to a proactive-preventive approach through strengthening learning literacy techniques, advocating for the provision of learning facilities, and providing psychoeducation to parents regarding the creation of a conducive domestic environment. The contribution of this research is the proposed guidance model that bridges the gap between accessibility and academic potential for students in rural areas.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of experiential learning in strengthening students' writing and speaking literacy at SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving 32 eighth-grade students as participants. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, documentation, and assessment of students' literacy products. The learning process was designed by encouraging students to transform their personal experiences into written narratives and oral presentations. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that experience-based literacy activities significantly improved students' confidence, vocabulary mastery, idea organization, and communication skills. Students demonstrated greater motivation to write because the topics originated from their own experiences, making the writing process more meaningful and authentic. Furthermore, speaking activities based on students' written narratives enhanced fluency, confidence, and interaction during classroom discussions. The integration of writing and speaking literacy through experiential learning also fostered critical thinking, creativity, and reflective abilities. The study concludes that utilizing students' personal experiences as learning resources provides an effective strategy for strengthening literacy competencies and creating an engaging learning environment in junior secondary education.

Abstract

The low level of imlā’ (Arabic dictation) skills remains one of the major obstacles in strengthening Arabic literacy among beginner students in Islamic schools. This condition was also identified among beginner students at MA NW Mataram, who experienced difficulties in writing Arabic letters correctly, connecting letters, applying vowel marks, and composing Arabic words and sentences according to orthographic rules. This community engagement program aimed to improve students' imlā’ skills, strengthen basic Arabic literacy, and enhance learning motivation through structured mentoring activities. The program employed the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, consisting of preliminary observation, needs assessment, module development, pre-test, mentoring through short lectures, demonstrations, repetitive drills, peer tutoring, direct practice, and post-test evaluation. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants' imlā’ skills, with the average score increasing from 60.5 in the pre-test to 84.3 in the post-test, representing a 39.3% improvement. In addition, participants demonstrated higher learning motivation, greater classroom participation, and improved Arabic writing competence. Teachers and school administrators also expressed positive responses toward the program. Therefore, the mentoring model proved effective in strengthening Arabic literacy through improving imlā’ skills and has the potential to be implemented sustainably in other Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, particularly local traditional grocery stores, holds a vital position in supporting regional economies. However, this business group often faces major barriers when adopting modern marketing technologies due to limited digital literacy and minimal operational capital. This collaborative community service program was initiated to escalate the digital marketing capacity of 15 grocery store operators in the Probolinggo City area through a mentoring scheme based on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) implementation. The program's execution adopted the Participatory Action Research (PAR) framework, implemented through three strategic stages: basic education on digital marketing and GenAI ecosystems, intensive guidance in producing AI-assisted promotional content, and continuous ongoing monitoring of implementation outcomes. Program success is reflected in the significant surge of participants' theoretical understanding of digital marketing from an initial average of 35% to 85%, technical skills in creating promotional materials from 20% to 90%, and a 60% time efficiency in content composition. All partner entrepreneurs (100%) successfully activated business-specific social media accounts and productively generated advertisements using GenAI. This activity confirms that structured mentoring optimizing GenAI serves as a highly applicable solution to boost the digital marketing capabilities of traditional micro-retail MSMEs with limited technological literacy

Abstract

This community service aims to help the implementation of the teacher attendance system using QR codes as a way to improve administrative management and teacher discipline attitudes at Darul Lughah Wal Karamah Junior High School. This activity was motivated by the lack of optimal use of the digital attendance system, because most teachers still need help in using the system. The method used is participatory assistance which goes through several stages such as observation, socialization, technical training, use practices, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed that the mentoring assistance helped teachers better understand how to use the QR code-based attendance system, make the process of recording and collecting attendance data faster, and facilitate attendance monitoring directly and in real time. In addition, the application of this innovation also helps to improve the nature of discipline, responsibility, and professionalism of teachers. Thus, assistance in the implementation of QR Code-based attendance is an effective strategy to support changes towards more digital school governance

Abstract

South Papua faces complex challenges to social cohesion due to the spatial segregation of settlements between Indigenous Papuan communities and transmigrant groups. This study aims to analyze the sociocultural integration strategies developed by Pustaka Musamus in Sota District, Merauke Regency. Studying employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with program managers, customary leaders, and parents, complemented by participant observation of program activities. Data were analyzed using interactive thematic analysis, with data validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that spatial segregation between Route A, predominantly inhabited by the Kanum and Marind-Anim communities, and Route B, predominantly inhabited by Javanese transmigrants, has the potential to reinforce social distance, prejudice, and intergroup conflict. Pustaka Musamus functions as an inclusive, neutral, and egalitarian Third Space through mentoring 125 children and adolescents, non-formal literacy education, theater activities, and ecosystem-based team building. Daily interaction and cross-group collaboration strengthen trust and social capital for harmony from an early age. This study confirms that community-based sociocultural integration is relevant for strengthening inclusive and peaceful community development in Indonesia's border regions, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 10 and 16.
