Abstract

This article analyzes the development of a multicultural Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum from a global and comparative perspective. Using library research, this study critically examines key works on multicultural education, global citizenship education, curriculum theory, and Indonesian academic studies on Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The analysis reveals that multicultural PAI should go beyond the normative delivery of religion toward contextual, dialogical, reflective, and transformative learning practices. A comparative examination of Malaysia, Egypt, Europe, and Finland reveals various curriculum orientations, including moderate integration, text preservation, interpretative dialog, and non-dogmatic humanistic education. Based on these findings, this article proposes a global-comparative reconstruction model that integrates Islamic values, cultural responsiveness, global citizenship, social justice, and the local realities of Indonesia. This model contributes to strengthening students' religious literacy while fostering inclusivity, tolerance, ethical awareness, and social responsibility. Multicultural Islamic Education (PAI) should be a transformative curriculum that prepares students to live peacefully in a pluralistic society, interconnected with love, wisdom, and a commitment to citizenship.

Abstract

This study explores the fundamental principles of Islamic education as derived from Qur’anic exegesis and examines their application within contemporary educational contexts. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the research integrates classical Qur’anic interpretations with recent scholarship in Islamic and educational studies to construct a coherent conceptual framework. The analysis identifies four foundational principles tawḥīd (divine unity), universality, balance (wasathiyyah), and raḥmah (compassion)as central to the Islamic educational worldview. These principles operate simultaneously as epistemological foundations, ethical orientations, and pedagogical guidelines that connect spiritual consciousness, intellectual development, moral cultivation, and social responsibility. The findings demonstrate that when Qur’anic principles are thematically interpreted and systematically embedded within curriculum design and pedagogical practice, Islamic education offers a holistic and adaptive model capable of responding to contemporary educational challenges. This study contributes to the field by articulating an integrative framework that bridges classical Qur’anic foundations with modern educational demands, positioning Islamic education as a transformative and contextually relevant paradigm in plural and dynamic societies.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s taʾdib concept with MUI Fatwa No. 24 of 2017 as a philosophical framework for constructing the digital legal awareness of Indonesian Muslim Generation Z. The central problem addressed is the persistently low level of digital legal awareness among Generation Z despite rapid internet and social media penetration, while academic scholarship that simultaneously synthesizes cyber jurisprudence, Islamic educational philosophy, sociological legal consciousness theory, and the behavioral characteristics of Generation Z within a unified analytical framework remains scarce. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive-analytical library research design, utilizing content analysis of primary documents and relevant academic literature as its principal methodological strategy. The findings demonstrate that the taʾdib concept, with its emphasis on the comprehensive formation of adab, is highly pertinent as a philosophical foundation for internalizing cyber jurisprudence norms. MUI Fatwa No. 24/2017, which employs the principles of maqashid al-shariʾah, sadd al-dhariʾah, and al-maslahah, provides concrete Islamic digital legal norms; however, its implementation among Generation Z remains constrained by a significant gap between normative knowledge and actual behavioral compliance. This study proposes the Taʾdib-Cyber Jurisprudence Integration Model (Islamic Cyber Ethics Model, ICEM) as an alternative paradigm for Islamic digital ethics education targeting Generation Z. The principal contribution lies in a novel theoretical framework that integrates classical Islamic educational epistemology with contemporary Islamic legal instruments in the construction of digital legal awareness.

Abstract

Improving learning quality requires educational facilities and infrastructure to be managed through systematic and quality-oriented approaches rather than conventional administrative practices. This study aimed to examine the implementation of educational facilities and infrastructure management at MI Mambaul Ulum Tlogorejo Karangawen Demak, identify the factors influencing its effectiveness, and develop a context-specific Quality-Based Educational Facilities and Infrastructure Management Model. A qualitative single-case study was conducted over a three-month period using purposive sampling involving 16 participants, comprising one principal, one vice principal for facilities and infrastructure, six teachers, two administrative staff members, two school committee representatives, and four parents. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of educational facilities management was evidenced by more systematic facilities utilization, improved learning quality, enhanced teacher performance, and greater student engagement, which were achieved through strategic planning, transparent resource allocation, stakeholder collaboration, preventive maintenance, continuous monitoring, evidence-based evaluation, and sustained quality assurance. Based on these empirical findings, this study proposes a context-specific conceptual Input–Process–Output–Feedback (IPOF) management model comprising four interconnected components: Input (vision, regulations, human resources, budget, and stakeholders), Process (planning, procurement, utilization, maintenance, monitoring, and evaluation), Output (effective facilities, improved learning quality, teacher performance, and student engagement), and Feedback (continuous improvement, strategic review, and quality assurance). This model extends the application of Total Quality Management principles into an integrated educational facilities management framework that may guide quality improvement in Islamic primary schools and similar educational contexts.

Abstract

Schools that facilitate talents and interests are still limited, and the management of flagship programs is not yet optimal. The effectiveness of implementing flagship programs still needs to be improved, and there is competition among schools in promoting themselves to attract students. This research aims to describe the management strategies of flagship programs to create the image of private elementary schools. The research uses a qualitative approach of case study type with data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model with the help of the ATLAS.ti 9 application. The research results show the management strategy for managing flagship programs to create the image of elementary schools thru the stages of strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy evaluation that are interrelated. In the strategy formulation stage, the school conducts a current needs analysis, designs flagship programs, prepares the school budget, develops publication and branding strategies, and plans resources. The strategy implementation stage includes the intensive execution of flagship programs, utilization of school facilities, publication of student achievements, administration of flagship program achievements, and motivation from leaders. The evaluation stage of the strategy involves communicating the progress of the flagship program, considering feedback and suggestions, taking corrective actions, and innovating programs with low interest. The implementation of all stages of the management strategy for the flagship program at SD Muhammadiyah Condongcatur has resulted in a positive school image, including its existence in the community, high parental trust in the school, the quality of the flagship program, student enrollment exceeding the quota each year, and numerous student achievements.

Abstract

The linkage between Islam and the state in Indonesia has been analyzed in terms of history, constitution, and politics. Nonetheless, prior research has considered BPUPKI,  Piagam Jakarta (Jakarta Charter), and Constituent Assembly discussions as individual constitutional issues without understanding their interrelated ideologies. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the ideological negotiation between Islam and nationalism in the construction of Indonesia's state foundation through qualitative historical methodology of document analysis and political philosophy interpretation. Primary data includes BPUPKI and PPKI's discussion, Piagam Jakarta, and Constituent Assembly discussions with the help of secondary sources. The results demonstrate that the construction of the state foundation in Indonesia was an ideology-mediated process but not a constitutional one. Piagam Jakarta is the manifestation of constitutional compromise, whereas Constituent Assembly discussion represents the continuing reinterpretation of the relation between religion and the state in a pluralistic democracy. The author suggests the model of Indonesian Ideological Mediation that proves that the relationship between Islam and the state develops as a result of constitutional compromise, ideological mediation, and ethical transformation. Instead of instituting Islam as the basis of the state formally, the suggested model treats Islamic ideology as public ethics incorporated into Pancasila and constitutional democracy.

Abstract

Although STEM education has been widely recognized as an effective approach for developing twenty-first-century competencies, its implementation in Islamic educational institutions has largely emphasized cognitive and technical skills while paying limited attention to the integration of religious moderation values. Likewise, studies on religious moderation have predominantly focused on Islamic Religious Education rather than being embedded within interdisciplinary science learning. This study therefore aimed to examine the effect of integrating religious moderation values into Islamic STEM Education on students' critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. A quantitative approach was employed using a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 64 students who were assigned to an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received Islamic STEM instruction integrating the values of religious moderation, whereas the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, scientific literacy tests, observation sheets, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The findings revealed that the implementation of Islamic STEM Education integrated with religious moderation values had a statistically significant effect on students' critical thinking skills and scientific literacy simultaneously (p < 0.05). Students in the experimental group achieved substantially higher improvements in both critical thinking and scientific literacy than those in the control group. Classroom observations further indicated that embedding the principles of tolerance, balance, justice, and respect for diversity fostered an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that encouraged evidence-based reasoning and scientific inquiry. Conceptually, the findings demonstrate that integrating religious moderation values strengthens the effectiveness of STEM learning by connecting scientific reasoning with ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible perspectives. This integration contributes to a more holistic instructional model that promotes not only critical thinking and scientific literacy but also the development of twenty-first-century competencies and students' moderate religious character. Therefore, Islamic STEM Education integrated with religious moderation values offers an innovative framework for improving both the quality of science education and character education in Islamic schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze categories of expressions related to clouds in the Arabic language through a morphological-semantic approach, with the goal of explaining the relationship between morphological structure and lexical meaning in the semantic domain of clouds. This study employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review. Data were collected from major classical Arabic dictionaries, namely  Majma’ al-Ma’ani, Fiqh al-Lugha wa Sirr al-Arab, and Lisan al-Arab, supplemented by relevant scholarly literature. The analysis was conducted by identifying word roots, morphological patterns, and semantic features of each linguistic unit to develop a systematic morphological-semantic classification. The results identified 29 linguistic units representing the concept of clouds in Arabic. These linguistic units were classified into four main categories: the stages of cloud formation and development, cloud shapes and their structural characteristics, atmospheric density and coverage, and rain clouds along with their associated weather phenomena.  The analysis also reveals that differences in morphological patterns result in systematic semantic differences, such that each linguistic unit can not only refer to cloud phenomena but also represent their developmental stages, shapes, locations, densities, and functions within the weather system. These results indicate that the Arabic lexical system reflects a close relationship between morphology and semantics in the description of natural phenomena and contributes to the development of the field of semantic morphology.
