Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) students in grade V at SD Negeri Margokoyo internalize the importance of religious moderation. The significance of teaching religious moderation from a young age in order to develop students who are religious, tolerant, and capable of coexisting peacefully in a pluralistic society is the driving force behind this study. Twenty-five fifth-grade students, Islamic Religious Education instructors, school principals, vice principals for curriculum, and vice principals for student affairs were the research subjects in this descriptive qualitative study. Techniques for gathering data include observation, interviews, and documentation.  Through the phases of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, the data was examined utilizing the Miles and Huberman model. Triangulation of sources, methods, and documentation ensures the data's validity. The study's findings demonstrate that the internalization of the value of religious moderation has been successfully accomplished through the support of school administrators, the incorporation of moderation values into curricula and instruction, student coaching, teacher models, and a school culture that promotes harmony and tolerance. Students' educational activities and social interactions incorporate religious moderation values such tawasuth, tawazun, tasamuh, i'tidal, and ta'awun.  The study's conclusions demonstrate that kids exhibit harmonious behavior in the classroom, have a tolerant attitude, are able to respect differences, and collaborate regardless of their religious background. As a result, Islamic Religious Education is crucial in helping children develop moderate, inclusive, and harmonious personalities.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the use of the Muroja'ah Tsulusi method in improving the fluency of Quran memorization among students at Pondok Pesantren Madinatul Qur'an, Umbul Lumajang. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection process involved observation, comprehensive interviews, and documentation gathered from the administrators of the Islamic boarding school, the hafiz/hafizah mentors, and the students of the hafiz program. The Tsulusi Muroja'ah method is considered effective because it applies a structured pattern of memorization repetition compared to the general muroja'ah method, thus it is deemed capable of helping balance the addition and maintenance of memorization. Data analysis was conducted thru the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The validity test was conducted using source and technique triangulation. The research results prove that the Muroja'ah Tsulutsi method has a positive impact on the memorization ability of the Qur'an among the students, with improvements in the fluency of memorization, reading accuracy, and the ability to recall memorized verses. Systematic repetition of memorization minimizes pronunciation errors, maintains memorization, and enhances self-confidence during memorization. The improvement of a disciplined study attitude is stimulated thru regular muroja’ah. The Tsulusi Muroja'ah method has the potential to improve the fluency and quality of Quran memorization among students in the pesantren environment.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed educational practices by reshaping how knowledge is produced, mediated, and legitimized. In Islamic education, where epistemology is grounded in the integration of revelation, reason, and ethical values, AI introduces challenges that extend beyond technological adoption to the philosophical foundations of knowledge. This study aims to examine AI as an epistemological challenge and formulate a reflective framework for its ethical integration into Islamic education. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes recent Scopus- and SINTA-indexed publications alongside primary works on Islamic educational epistemology. The findings indicate that AI may shift educational orientation from meaningful knowledge to instrumental information, weaken teachers’ epistemic authority, and diminish the roles of sanad and adab in knowledge transmission. As its principal contribution, this study proposes a Reflective Epistemological Framework integrating revelation-based knowledge, ethical use of reason and AI, teacher authority, preservation of sanad and adab, and AI literacy with moral responsibility. The study concludes that AI should function as a pedagogical assistant rather than an autonomous epistemic authority, ensuring that technological innovation reinforces the philosophical, ethical, and spiritual foundations of Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Friday sermon program in strengthening students’ aqidah and moral values at MTs UIN North Sumatra, covering the planning and implementation processes as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the head of the madrasah, vice principal for student affairs, program supervisors, and students. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through triangulation. The findings reveal that the program is planned systematically through stakeholder coordination and implemented continuously as part of religious development activities. The program functions not only as a ritual practice but also as an educational process that promotes habituation, role modeling, and active student participation. Supporting factors include institutional support, supervisor competence, student involvement, and a religious school environment. Inhibiting factors consist of limited facilities, less varied instructional methods, and external influences. The novelty of this study lies in the utilization of the Friday sermon as a student participation-based character-building model. The program contributes to enhancing religious awareness, discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, and strengthening students’ aqidah and moral values.

Abstract

This research aims to examine and describe how religious education strategies are applied to children in convert families, with the research location in Pundu Village, Cempaga Hulu District, East Kotawaringin Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method by utilizing two types of data sources: primary data and secondary data. To obtain the data, this research uses three techniques: interviews, observations, and the collection of supporting documents. The subjects in this study are 4 Muslim convert families residing on Jalan Sendong T. These four families were selected based on the criteria of having embraced Islam for at least 5 years and having children aged up to 20 years. From the research results, it was found that religious education for children in convert families is more often carried out thru habituation and direct exemplification by the parents, especially in the practice of obligatory prayers. The habituation of the five daily prayers has become one of the most frequently used strategies by parents to shape their children's religious character from an early age. In addition, children's involvement in Islamic educational institutions such as pesantren, TPA, or madrasah also strengthens their understanding and practice of Islamic values. Overall, this research shows that the families of converts play a significant role as the primary educational institution for children, both in instilling religious values, building Islamic identity, and shaping a religious character that develops gradually and continuously.

Abstract

The vulnerability of widows (al-armalah) and the poor (al-masākīn) remains a significant challenge in contemporary social welfare, while the concept of Raḥmatan lil Armalati wal Masākīn has received limited scholarly attention as an Islamic social protection paradigm. This study examines the conceptual framework of protecting widows and the poor in Rahmatan lil-'Ālamīn by Sa'īd bin 'Alī al-Qaḥṭānī and its relevance to contemporary social welfare. Using a qualitative library research approach, data were collected from primary and supporting literature and analyzed through Krippendorff's qualitative content analysis with source triangulation. The findings reveal that al-armalah represents not merely a demographic category but a vulnerable group requiring integrated economic, social, and psychological protection. The practices of Prophet Muhammad SAW and the policies of Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb demonstrate a social protection model grounded in theological values, social ethics, empowerment, and public responsibility. The study's novelty lies in reconstructing Raḥmatan lil Armalati wal Masākīn as a conceptual framework that bridges prophetic values with contemporary social protection, providing a foundation for more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable welfare policies.

Abstract

This study analyzes curriculum development at MTsN 1 Pati in implementing the Independent Curriculum, with particular attention to the integration of Islamic values and digital literacy. Non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation including the vice principal for curriculum, teachers, and curriculum-related documents were used to gather data using a naturalistic qualitative approach. Through reduction, display, verification, and conclusion drawing, data were studied interactively. The results demonstrate that updating the madrasah's vision and mission is part of curriculum development at MTsN 1 Pati, strengthening its religious culture, and establishing flagship programs such as the Boarding School and Digital Class. The curriculum integrates Islamic values, digital literacy, technological competence, and global skills through intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. These efforts contribute not only to students’ academic achievement but also to character formation in accordance with Islamic educational principles. However, several challenges remain, including teachers’ readiness to implement differentiated learning, variations in student motivation, changes in learning paradigms, and technical limitations related to digital technology. The study emphasizes the necessity of strong institutional support, sufficient technology infrastructure, and ongoing professional development for teachers. In order to show that madrasahs can adjust to educational reform while preserving their Islamic identity and unique educational features, this research proposes a curriculum integration model that integrates religious values and digital literacy within the Independent Curriculum framework.

Abstract

This study looks at how students build their understanding of Fiqh through learning preferences, teaching methods, and pesantren-based religious culture at MA Ma'arif Nahdlatul Ummah Jarakan Banyudono Ponorogo during the 2025/2026 academic year. The starting problem is a familiar one in Islamic education: Fiqh tends to get taught as a body of legal concepts to memorize, when students also need interpretive judgment, religious disposition, and the practical skill to carry out worship and social conduct correctly. Drawing on Bloom's cognitive taxonomy, comprehension here means the ability to interpret information, restate concepts in one's own words, and connect that knowledge to specific situations students actually face. Interactive lecture, question-and-answer, discussion, demonstration, practice, and problem-solving each played a part in helping students link legal concepts to religious procedure and to the contextual decisions they encounter outside the classroom. Pesantren culture, particularly students' earlier exposure to Fiqh material, their habituated worship practice, and participation in Bahtsul Masa'il, reinforced their reasoning, their carefulness, and their day-to-day religious awareness. The study's central point is that a practical grasp of Fiqh grows out of the interaction between classroom instruction, how students choose to engage with material, and the religious life they already live inside the pesantren.

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to create animated video learning materials for Thaharah materials (Major and Minor Hadats) using artificial intelligence (AI) and assess how well they improve students' learning outcomes.  The research and development (R&D) process employed the ADDIE paradigm, which comprises the phases of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Thirty students from SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru's tenth grade participated. Descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, the Paired Sample t-Test, and N-Gain analysis were utilized to examine the data collected from pretest and posttest learning outcome assessments. The results showed a 2.43-point improvement from the mean pretest score of 5.50 to 7.93 in the posttest. With significant scores of 0.122 and 0.200, respectively (p > 0.05), the pretest and posttest data were both found to be normally distributed by the normality test. The Paired Sample t-Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between students' results before and after utilizing the created medium. The N-Gain value of 0.69, which was categorized as moderate and near the high category, also demonstrated a notable learning improvement. These findings show that students' comprehension and performance in Thaharah (Major and Minor Hadats) can be improved by using AI-based animated video learning materials. The created media provides a cutting-edge, captivating, and technologically integrated educational tool that facilitates interactive teaching and satisfies the needs of education in the twenty-first century.

Abstract

The growing fragmentation of moral values in contemporary education has renewed philosophical interest in educational paradigms that integrate ethical formation with human development. This article reconstructs Murtadha Muthahhari’s philosophy of moral education as an integrated educational paradigm through Gadamerian philosophical hermeneutics. Employing qualitative library research, the study analyzes Muthahhari’s principal works through dialogical interpretation, historically effected consciousness, and the fusion of horizons to reconstruct the conceptual architecture underlying his educational philosophy. The hermeneutic reconstruction demonstrates that Muthahhari’s paradigm is organized around the integration of fitrah, reason ('aql), freedom, moral responsibility, and kamāl (human perfection), forming a coherent philosophical framework that unites ontology, anthropology, ethics, and spirituality. Rather than reducing moral education to value transmission or behavioral regulation, this framework conceives education as the cultivation of ethical subjectivity through the actualization of humanity’s innate moral potential. The article advances existing scholarship by establishing the internal coherence of Muthahhari’s educational philosophy beyond fragmented theological, ethical, and ideological interpretations. It further demonstrates the explanatory power of Gadamerian hermeneutics for reinterpreting classical Islamic educational thought within contemporary educational philosophy, thereby providing a philosophically grounded framework for addressing moral fragmentation, character formation, and the ethical purpose of education in pluralistic societies.
