Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using the Discovery Learning Method on the ability to write explanatory texts for class VIII students at HKBP Sidorame Middle School, Medan. This research uses a quantitative experimental research method with a one group pretest design. The population in the study was all 30 class VIII students. The data analysis techniques used were normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. After conducting research for pretest and posttest experiments using the Discovery Learning Method, the average score for the control class was 60.93 and the experimental class average was 80.8. The pre-test and post-test data prerequisite test results stated that the sample had a normal and homogeneous distribution. From the results of research hypothesis testing, a "t" test was carried out at a significant level of α= 0.05. This can be proven from the results of hypothesis testing and data analysis that have been carried out. The results obtained from the calculations carried out can be seen that Tcount > Ttable = 8.22524 > 1 ,67155.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the use of the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) learning model on the ability to write complex explanation texts in Grade XI students of Abdi Negara Private High School Binjai Academic Year 2023/2024. This research is quantitative with an experimental research method, using a One Group Pretest and Posttest research design. The research population is 82 and the sample is 30 people. Sampling was done using Cluster Sampling technique. The results of the pretest show that the number of students who passed the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) in writing complex explanation texts is 6 people (20%). and after using the learning model, there is an increase in the number of students who achieve the learning completeness standard by 23 (76%) people. Obtained 1-calculation 5.58 and Label 1.70 then Ho rejected and H1 accepted. It is concluded that the use of the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) learning model can improve students' news writing abilities in Indonesian language lessons at the Grade XI level of high school.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the portrayal of women in the novel Bak Rambut Dibelah Tujuh by Muhammad Makdlori. The method used in this study is qualitative research method. This study analyzes and describes the portrayal of women (feminism) in novels, the most dominant position between the subject-object position in and the position of the reader in Muhammad Makhdlori's Bak Rambut Dibelah Tujuh Novel and the implications of research results in learning Indonesian Language and literature in Senior High School. Data collection techniques in this study used recording techniques. The results obtained in this study are as follows: (1) The depiction of women in Muhammad Makhdlori's Novel Bak Rambut Dibelah Tujuh. (2) the most dominant position between the subject-object position and the reader's position in Muhammad Makhdlori's novel Bak Rambut Dibelah Tujuh. (3) Implications of research results on learning Indonesian Language and Literature in Senior High School.

Abstract

Meaning is what describes part of culture or the reality of the universe, and in a set of lexical elements, namely the actual meaning or meaning in the dictionary. The field of meaning of hand and foot activities in the KBBI needs to be researched because every day the activities carried out by humans are always related to the hands and feet. All these activities have different lexemes. This research aims to describe the components of the field of lexical meaning of hand and foot activities in the Big Indonesian Dictionary, and to find out the lexemes that describe hand and foot activities and their implications for poetry texts in State Middle Schools. 4 Terrain. The approach used in this research is qualitative using reading and note-taking methods, as well as several advanced techniques that suit field needs. The results obtained from this research are 20 meaning subfields (72 lexemes) of hand activities, 11 lexemes of foot activities contained in the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), and their implications for poetry texts at SMP 4 Medan.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of differentiated learning using various media on students' writing ability to write slogan texts for Phase D Middle School at Teladan Medan College T.A.2023/2024. This type of research is quantitative experimental research with a two group posttest-only control design. Quantitative research is research that is based on calculating statistical figures in its findings. The population in this study were all class VIII students with a total of 64 students with the sample for this research being VIII-1 with 32 students and VIII-2 with 32 students determined using a simple random sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is the normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. After conducting research for pretest and posttest experiments using Miscellaneous media, the average score for the control class was 61.56 with a standard deviation of 9.16 and the experimental class average was 81.25 with a standard deviation of 12.24. The pre-test and post-test data prerequisite test results stated that the sample had a normal and homogeneous distribution. From the results of testing the research hypothesis, a "t" test was carried out at a significant level of α= 0.05, obtained Tcount > Ttable = (7.1861 > 1.693). Thus the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the use of various media at VIII Medan Model College Middle School T.P 2023/2024.

Abstract

Penelitiannya bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media Articulate storyline sebagai sarana penyampaian materi terhadap kemampuan menulis teks persuasif siswa. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan menulis siswa khususnya pada materi teks persuasif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 13 Medan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes tugas yang berfungsi untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks persuasif. Hasil penelitian ini memperoleh rata-rata 79,33 untuk kelas eksperimen dan 51,83 untuk kelas kontrol. Hasil uji persyaratan data menunjukkan bahwa data kedua kelas berdistribusi normal dan homogen. pada uji t diperoleh thitung > ttabel 9,1059 > 1,67155. Dengan demikian disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan media Articulate Storyline terhadap kemampuan menulis teks persuasif.

Abstract

This study focused on finding out the effect of applying Duolingo Application on students listening anchievement. The objective of the study is to find out whether Duolingo Application affects student achievement in listening. This study was conducted by applied experimental quantitative research. The sample of the study was the first-year students of SMP Negeri 1 Pasaributobing. The writer took VII-A which consists of 29 students as an experimental class with used Duolingo Application and VII-B which consists of 29 students as the control group used the conventional method. The population of this study was 58 students which consist of Seventh classes. The writer took two classes as random sampling to see the effect of Duolingo Application as a media in teaching listening. The data were taken by giving listening test. The tests were divided into two tests: pre-test and post-test for both experimental and control groups. The mean score of pre-test in the experimental class is 49,6 and the post-test is 80,5. The mean score of pre-test in the control group is 50,1 and the post-test is 60,5. The result that t-calculated >t-table as the level of significance p =0,05 (18,33 > 1.673). The Alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It is suggested that teachers of English subject apply Duolingo Aplication as an alternative teaching media to help listening ability at seventh grade students of Junior High School.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of differentiated learning assisted by Cartoon Story Maker media on the ability to write negotiation texts for class X at Teladan Medan High School. This research is quantitative research that uses experimental methods with a two group posttest research design. The population studied was all class X students totaling 75 people and the samples in the research were class X1 with a total of 25 people and The data analysis techniques used include normality testing with the F test, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing. After carrying out the research, namely the posttest using Differentiated Learning assisted by the Cartoon Story Maker Application, the average score for the control class posttest was 54.6 and the experimental class posttest was 76. The results of hypothesis testing in this study obtained tcount>ttable (7.40 > 1, 98) thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted and the test results of the posttest requirements are normally distributed and homogeneous. So it can be concluded that the Influence of Differentiated Learning Assisted by Cartoon Story Maker Media on the Ability to Write Negotiation Texts for Class X SMA Teladan Medan.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the markers of cohesion and coherence in the novel Lilin "Light That Makes My Life Dark" by Sanniyah Putri Salsabila Said and its implications for Class VIII Language Learning at SMP Negeri 11 Medan. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out using library techniques and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of this research, it shows that there are markers of cohesion and coherence in the novel "The Bright Candle Makes My Life Dark by Sanniyah Putri Salsabila Said". First, cohesion is divided into two, namely lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion. In this study, lexical cohesion was found in 45 data. Of the 45 data, there are 5 synonyms, 13 antonyms, 6 hyponyms, 9 repetitions and 12 collocations. Grammatical cohesion was found in 42 data. From the 42 data, there are 25 pronouns, 3 substitutions, 4 ellipsis and 10 conjunctions. Second, coherence was found in 50 data that described coherence. There are 7 cause-effect relationships, 4 cause-effect relationships, 4 reason-action relationships, 4 background-conclusion, 3 conditions-results, 6 comparisons, 4 applicative, 5 additive, 3 identification, 3 generic-specific, 3 specific-generic , and 4 argumentative. The results of this research provide an important contribution in understanding and applying cohesion and coherence, especially students' writing skills in Indonesian language learning for Class VIII SMP.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using articulate storyline media as a means of delivering material on students' ability to write short story texts. This dilator is caused by students' low writing skills, especially in short story text material. This research uses quantitative experimental methods. The population in this study were all class VII students of SMP N 13 Medan. The data collection technique used is an assignment test which functions to determine students' ability to write short story texts. The results of this research obtained an average of 76.15 for the experimental class and 63.18 for the control class. The data requirements test results show that the data for both classes are normally distributed and homogeneous. in the t test it is obtained that tcount > ttable = (8.9448> 1.6706). Thus it is concluded that there is a significant influence of the use of articulate storyline media on students' ability to write short story texts.
