Abstract

Long-tailed macaques overlap extensively with humans across their ranges in Southeast Asia and consequently live together in several locations. Human-macaque interactions were documented in the neighboring Sumile Zoological and Botanical Park in Barangay Sumile, Butuan City. Due to anthropogenic activities resulting to the loss of their natural habitat, the macaques are forced to live within human settlements resulting to a positive and negative interactions which greatly affected their population. The primary objective of this study is to assess the population of long-tailed macaques in Maibu, Butuan City. We also identified the current threats, as well as the food sources of the macaques in the area. The results showed that the current estimated population of long-tailed macaques was about 688 individuals. Based on key informant interviews, the threats to long-tailed macaque populations were attributed to mining activities, deforestation through illegal logging, and the prevalent wildlife hunting. Furthermore, researchers found that fruit trees, such as coconut, banana, papaya, mango, and root crops, such as sweet potatoes, cassava, and taro, are the main sources of food. Researchers recommend expanding the scope of future studies to include home ranges, range distances, and potential sites, to obtain a larger sample size to effectively plan conservation measures of the species.

Abstract

The purpose of this manuscript is to search the literature to support the variables of this manuscript and to provide results for consideration in future studies as a research gap or alongside other research items.  This research used the primary literature survey that was the basis for writing this article. There were no respondents and no data processing was used. The framework results can be used as a novelty in this study. Abstract

Given the limited number of available literature on Subanen culture and history, scholars and researchers are drawn to study the monologues of Subanen folklore to extract truthful historical accounts, separating myths from facts. Through the three published epics subject to this study, significant characteristics of Subanen history are identified through the lens of the key flora and fauna. These factual historical references add up to the whole Subanen identity in the Philippines’ diverse cultural and socio-political landscape.

Abstract

Teachers are at the core of society’s education and literacy, making them an indispensable workforce. While the profession offers a noble cause, it is not without challenges and difficulties. The institution where they belong is expected to provide them with the necessary support so they can perform their job well. This study looks into the relationship between the organizational commitment levels and job satisfaction of 29 regular-fulltime faculty of the College of Business Administration of the Negros Oriental State University main campus. A survey questionnaire was administered to measure their affective, continuance, and normative organizational commitment levels, and job satisfaction. Through Pearson’s r, it was found that there is no statistically significant relationship between affective and continuance commitment to job satisfaction. Although not strong, there is a recorded significant relationship between normative commitment and job satisfaction. The results showed that organizational commitment is not a strong driver for job satisfaction and vice versa. Several factors may affect this result such as the demographic profile of the respondents and their innate interest in the profession. As the study has its limitations, further research can be conducted to explore other factors of job satisfaction and influences in the organizational commitment.

Abstract

Technical education and vocational training (TVET) serves as a key strategy for raising employability of the Philippine labor force and reducing the polarity between skilled and non-skilled workers along with employed and unemployed graduates since the development of the Philippine Qualifications Framework. This study establishes a working model or a Competency-based TVET Framework for Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines. It will serve as an intervention paradigm that will guide TVET curriculum developers and policymakers in identifying and integrating theoretical and culturally appropriate disciplines into the curricular design of education and skills training for Indigenous Peoples. It will be a new framework, separate from but parallel to the current TVET Framework.
