Abstract

This research aims to explore Deddy Corbuzier's religious conversion using a sociological analysis of religion. This research is a type of qualitative research with data collection through a netnographic study where researchers observe the YouTube channels of BEEM ARYO and Deddy Corbuzier, which discuss Deddy Corbuzier's conversion. The approach used is the sociology of religion. The discussion of this research includes religious conversion and the process and factors of Deddy Corbuzier's religious conversion. This research concludes that Deddy Corbuzier's religious conversion process took quite a long time from starting with environmental conditions, a crisis occurring, playing an active role in a particular religion, meeting with religious figures, then interacting with each other and finally making a commitment to change religions, thus getting its consequences for Deddy Corbuzier. Factors that influence this are interpersonal relationship factors, routine habit factors and religious leader factors. This research recommends comparative research on individuals or groups who undertake religious conversion or analysis of other approaches.

Abstract

This research comprehensively discusses the method of ijmali interpretation in interpreting the Qur'an. With a focus on history, urgency, steps, as well as its strengths and weaknesses, this research explores the method of interpretation that emerged at the beginning of the revelation of the Qur'an, when the Muslim community at that time had a profound understanding of the Arabic language and directly witnessed the events of the revelation. The ijmali interpretation method is analyzed as a global, practical, and easily understandable approach, revealing synonyms, asbabun nuzul, and the core message of the verses briefly. Although this method is simple and needs more opinions of interpreters, its weakness lies in the limitation of providing in-depth explanations. This research utilizes a literature review study to detail the key aspects of the ijmali interpretation method, providing a deeper understanding of this approach in uncovering the meanings of the Qur'an.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the significance of waqaf and Ibtida` in the recitation of the Quran, specifically examining the differences in waqaf symbols between Mushaf Standar Indonesia and Mushaf Madinah in Surah al-Baqarah. The study also investigates the factors causing variations in waqaf symbols between these two Mushafs and explores the influence of these differences on the meaning and interpretation of the Quran. A qualitative research approach is employed, utilizing descriptive methods, literature review, and comparative analysis. The research focuses on Surah al-Baqarah in both Mushaf Standar Indonesia and Mushaf Madinah. Data analysis involves data reduction, presentation, verification, and concluding. The findings reveal the following: 1) Knowledge of waqaf and Ibtida is crucial in reading, translating, and interpreting the Quran; 2) There are similarities and differences in the positions of waqaf symbols between Mushaf Standar Indonesia and Mushaf Madinah in Surah al-Baqarah, classified into three types: First, both Mushafs place the waqaf symbol in the same location. Second, the Mushafs differ in placing waqaf symbols in the same location. Third, Mushaf Standar Indonesia symbolizes a waqaf symbol while Mushaf Madinah do not; 3) Factors causing differences in waqaf symbols between the two Mushafs include variations in understanding the arrangement of Quranic verses from the perspective of Balaghah sciences, encompassing 'Ilm al-Bayan, 'Ilm al-Ma'ani, and 'Ilm al-Bādī; 4) Overall, differences in Waqaf and Ibtida between the two Mushafs affect the possibilities of translation and interpretation of the Quran. In some cases, these differences and their impacts can be demonstrated. However, fundamentally, these variations reflect diversity rather than contradictory distinctions.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the understanding of Imam al-Qurtuby and Wahbah al-Zuhaili in interpreting the verses of the Qur'an regarding nushuz, as well as studying its relevance in preventing domestic violence. The research method used is qualitative with a comparative approach between tafsir al-Jami' Li Ahkam al-Qur'an by Imam al-Qurtuby and tafsir al-Munir by Prof. Dr. Wahbah al-Zuhaili. The results of the research show that both of them provide views on the resolution of nushuz in accordance with the principles of Sharia, with an emphasis on avoiding domestic violence. Husbands are reminded not to use abusive words or do actions that can damage the wife's honor, and the importance of a wise solution without involving violence is emphasized. This research also relates the findings to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 23 of 2004 about PDKRT, highlights the need for harmony between religious interpretation and applicable legal provisions. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide a holistic view in dealing with the problem of nushuz and encourage a solution that upholds the values of humanity and justice in the household context.

Abstract

This article examines how the Muslim community perceives religious secularism in France and Belgium. Second, to explore the negative and positive impacts of the niqab and burqa ban policy on the perception of the Muslim community in France and Belgium. This article uses a descriptive qualitative research method (Field Research) with a participatory approach. Namely, the researcher conducted direct observations in France (Cannes, Marseille, and Dunkerque) and Belgium (Saint-Nicolas and Bouge) on 19-26 February 2022. The data collection techniques in this article are primary data and secondary data. Preliminary data includes field observations, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, secondary data includes books, scientific articles, and popular articles still relevant to this research. Then, the researcher conducted semi-structured interviews with informants or sources, namely Muslim women in Belgium and France. Furthermore, the documentation technique uses a theoretical reference source referring to Stephen P. Robbins' version of perception theory. The findings in this article are the perceptions of the Muslim community, which has been known above. The views of the Muslim community in France and Belgium towards religious secularism in terms of the prohibition of wearing the Niqab and Burqa vary greatly. These very varied views or perceptions are influenced by the principles, experiences, knowledge, attitudes, social conditions, surrounding environment, and personalities of those (Muslim communities) who live in France and Belgium. The negative impacts are more dominant, and this may worsen the social and economic conditions of Muslim communities.

Lasi, which is in Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, is an area rich in Islamic culture and traditions. One of the Islamic traditions there is the recitation of death. The tradition of reciting the Qur’an for death is a practice that combines elements of the Islamic religion with local cultural values. This research aims to determine the integration of Islam and local culture manifested in the practice of reciting the Qur’an for death in the Lasi community. The research method used in this research is a field research method that uses a qualitative approach by conducting in-depth interviews with members of the Lasi community who are involved in the tradition of reciting the Qur’an for death. Direct observations were also carried out to understand the implementation of this practice. Qualitative data was carefully analyzed to identify patterns of integration between Islamic religion and local culture in the context of the Qur’an for death. The results of this research reveal that the tradition of reciting the Qur’an for death in Lasi, Agam Regency, reflects close integration between the Islamic religion and local culture. The use of local languages in this tradition strengthens the community's cultural identity, while Islamic religious messages are also maintained. This tradition also plays a role in maintaining Lasi cultural values, connecting the younger generation to their cultural heritage, and strengthening community ties. This integration has helped maintain harmony between religion and culture, creating a model that can serve as an example for efforts to preserve culture and religion in an increasingly globalized society.

Abstract

This research was conducted departing from the dynamics of the problem in terms of various aspects and values regarding isra'iliyyat infiltration in interpretation. There are so many views that tend to be negative about it. Even there is another side, considering that it is a necessity of acculturation in socio-cultural life. This study used the library research method by collecting, processing, and inducing data in accordance with the discussion from various sources of literature, namely descriptive analysis. The purpose of this study is to mediate views regarding scientific substance in isra'iliyyat and the correlation of its infiltration into the interpretation of the Qur'an, which has been going on for a long time. So with this, it can be found values that correspond from the isra'iliyyat aspect with the basic values in the interpretation of the Qur'an. It is also hoped that this will stimulate the birth of a more intense study to trace isra'iliyyat genealogy whose purity is still maintained; of course, it does not mean to rule out the study of texts, namely the Al-Qur'an and al-Hadith. Seeing the material in its historical reality, isra'iliyyat and interpretation cannot be completely separated. This is because it has become a general reality that every culture will experience acculturation assimilation. Especially when this isra'iliyyat is interpreted etymologically as whatever is contained in the holy book of the people of the book from all its aspects.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and advances in information technology, social media plays a key role in shaping the dynamics of people's daily lives. This phenomenon not only affects social and economic aspects but also penetrates the diverse dimensions of religious life. This article examines the impact of social media on people's religiosity, specifically in context post-truth and hoaxes. There is a trend where urban people prefer to get religious understanding from ustaz/clerics on social media rather than from traditional religious authorities. Freedom of expression on social media, without an adequate selection process and credibility, creates a diversity of interpretations that can confuse the public. The rise of hoaxes and information post-truths on social media poses a serious challenge to quality religious understanding and traditional religious authority. This article highlights the potential for religious disintegration and radicalism as a result of hoax information and post-truth on social media. Through a qualitative approach and case studies, this research explores the transformation of religious paradigms, freedom of expression, and the diversity of interpretations that occur on social media. This article suggests efforts to verify information and increase media literacy as a solution to overcome the negative impact of social media on people's religiosity.
