Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the work environment and work discipline on teacher performance, with work motivation serving as a mediating variable at the Pelita Intelektual Foundation in Deli Serdang. A quantitative approach was applied, utilizing path analysis through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The study involved a total of 96 teachers as the research population, using total sampling. The results indicate that both the work environment and work discipline have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, both directly and indirectly through work motivation as a mediating factor. Work motivation was found to strengthen the influence of the work environment and work discipline on performance outcomes. These findings underscore the importance of creating a supportive work environment, enforcing work discipline, and continuously fostering teacher motivation to enhance performance. It is recommended that the foundation place greater emphasis on these three factors as part of its sustainable human resource development strategy.

Abstract

Hypertension management requires consistent medication adherence, yet compliance rates remain problematic in rural Indonesia. Social-ecological approaches that integrate multiple levels of influence may effectively address this challenge, but evidence from Eastern Indonesia remains limited. This study aimed to determine the effect of a community-based education model with a social-ecological approach on medication adherence among hypertensive patients in Puskesmas Majaran (Majaran Health Center), West Papua. A quasi-experimental study with a pre-post design was conducted, involving 60 hypertensive patients randomly assigned to intervention (n = 30) and control (n = 30) groups. The intervention group received a structured, four-stage community-based education program incorporating social-ecological principles over eight weeks, while the control group received standard care. Data were collected using the Modified Morisky Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) and analyzed using Chi-square, Wilcoxon, Mann–Whitney, and logistic regression tests. After the intervention, the experimental group showed significantly improved medication adherence (p < 0.001), with 76.7% of participants showing improvement (versus 26.7% in the control group). High adherence was achieved by 36.7% of intervention participants, while no control group participants reached high adherence. Family support was significantly associated with adherence in the intervention group (p = 0.003). The Mann–Whitney test confirmed significant differences between groups post-intervention (Z = –3.690, p < 0.001). The duration of hypertension diagnosis was not significantly associated with adherence (p = 0.954). Overall, the community-based education model with a social-ecological approach significantly improves medication adherence among hypertensive patients. This model effectively addresses multiple factors influencing adherence, particularly by strengthening family support systems. Healthcare providers should implement multi-level interventions that engage families and communities rather than focusing solely on individual patients.

Abstract

The rise of e-commerce in Indonesia has significantly altered consumer behavior, particularly in post-purchase experiences. Despite increased convenience, online transactions often result in dissatisfaction due to service failures or product mismatches, prompting varying complaint behaviors. This study investigates the impact of Perceived Product Quality, Perceived Value, and Personality on dissatisfaction levels in e-commerce, and explores how complaint type (Voicer, Irate, Passive) moderates these relationships. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 218 e-commerce consumers who had made purchases and submitted complaints, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) and Multi-Group Analysis (MGA). Findings show that Perceived Value emerged as the most significant and consistent predictor of dissatisfaction across all complaint types, while Perceived Product Quality and Personality showed no significant direct effect; however, Irates exhibited higher sensitivity to product quality failures. Complaint type moderated the strength of relationships, highlighting behavioral differences in consumer responses. In conclusion, consumer dissatisfaction in e-commerce is driven primarily by perceived value rather than product quality, and complaint behavior types influence how dissatisfaction is expressed but not necessarily how it is formed. The research implies that e-commerce businesses should enhance post-purchase services such as delivery, customer support, and refund systems, while tailoring complaint resolution strategies based on consumer types to reduce dissatisfaction and improve retention.

Abstract

Abstract

Despite their significant potential, AR/VR adoption rates vary considerably across different contexts, with developing countries like Indonesia showing a 29% adoption gap compared to developed nations. This study systematically analyzes the role of performance expectancy in AR/VR technology adoption within the tourism sector through a comprehensive literature review spanning 2015–2024. A systematic literature review following PRISMA protocols was conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases, with inclusion criteria encompassing English- and Indonesian-language articles published between 2015 and 2024 that focused on performance expectancy and AR/VR adoption in tourism contexts. From 532 initially identified articles, 42 met all inclusion criteria and underwent systematic analysis using thematic content analysis and meta-synthesis approaches. The synthesis reveals that performance expectancy emerges as the strongest predictor of AR/VR adoption, contributing 46%–70% of variance in adoption decisions, operationalized through four primary dimensions: utilitarian value, relative advantage, job-fit, and outcome expectations. AR/VR adoption is measured through usage intensity, system integration, implementation scope, and utilization level, with organizational technology readiness and risk perception serving as critical moderators. Significant contextual differences exist between developed and developing countries in AR/VR adoption patterns, with substantial research gaps identified in the Indonesian context—particularly the scarcity of empirical studies on AR/VR adoption in travel agencies. Future research should explore Indonesia-specific contexts, moderator roles (including organizational size and technology type), and mixed-method approaches to understand the complexity of AR/VR adoption in tourism.

Abstract

Kidney failure is one of the main complications of hypertension and has the potential to cause death. Decreased kidney function can be indicated by increased levels of creatinine in the blood. Neem leaves (Azadirachta indica) contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins, phenolics and terpenoids which have antihypertensive and nephroprotective potential. This study used 36 male Wistar rats as test animals. The rats were divided into 6 groups, namely positive control (captopril 25 mg/kgbb), negative control (CMC-Na 0.5%), neem leaf ethanol extract group with doses of 75, 150, 300 mg/kgbb, and normal control. All groups except the normal control were induced with 2.5% NaCl solution (2 ml, p.o.) and 5 mg/kgbb hydrocortisone (s.c.) for 10 days, then given treatment according to each group for 14 days orally. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences between groups (P <0.05). In the Mann-Whitney test, the neem leaf ethanol extract group with doses of 75, 150 and 300 mg/kgbb compared to the negative control showed significant differences. This proves that all three doses of extract can lower blood pressure and creatinine levels. In the histopathology of the kidneys, there was damage to the tubules and interstitium. In the neem leaf ethanol extract group with a dose of 300 mg/kgbb, there was improvement in the renal tubules and interstitium. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the neem leaf ethanol extract can lower creatinine levels and improve the histopathology of the kidneys in hypertensive rats induced by NaCl and hydrocortisone.

Abstract

Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a prevalent dental condition in children, affecting approximately 13-14% of the pediatric population worldwide. Dental care for MIH poses significant challenges due to the abnormal morphology and structure of enamel prisms, resulting in increased porosity and fragility, which make the teeth highly susceptible to hypersensitivity. Managing dentin hypersensitivity (DH) in children with MIH is particularly difficult. This article reviews current evidence on various treatments for hypersensitivity in children with MIH-affected teeth to identify the most effective and long-lasting options. This scoping review adhered to the criteria established by the PRISMA-ScR and conducted a thorough literature search from 2019 to 2024 using the PubMed, Scopus, and Science Direct databases. The search utilized the Concept, Population, and Context framework along with specific keywords to identify therapies for hypersensitivity in children's teeth affected by MIH. Nine studies from Brazil, Italy, Austria, Germany, and China were included, involving children aged 6 to 16 years, with sample sizes ranging from 42 to 214 teeth. The studies examined the efficacy and long-term durability of different methods and materials while looking at a variety of management and treatment options for hypersensitivity in teeth affected by MIH. Treatments such as preemptive analgesia, sealants, laser therapy, and biomimetic hydroxyapatite paste effectively reduce hypersensitivity and improve quality of life related to oral health in children with MIH. The combination of laser therapy with desensitizers offers the most effective and sustained relief for hypersensitivity in MIH-affected teeth.
