Abstract

Study purpose. This study aims to explore the role of sports media in creating crises that boxers may face, many journalists have failed to realize the dual role of the media in creating and managing crises. The media not only reports events but also acts as a key organizer in crisis preparation and management. Materials and methods. The researchers employed a descriptive survey method, correlational relationships, and standard studies on a sample of (79) administrative members from boxing clubs in the southern provinces of Iraq out of a total population of (270). The researchers selected the sample deliberately and developed the research scale. After applying the scale to the main experimental sample, the results were collected and processed using SPSS. The findings suggest that the role of the media is not to create crises in sports environments, both specific to sports and in general society. Results. The media role in creating crises is perceived as having a low value from the perspective of administrative bodies. Simultaneously, this value is considered unsatisfactory, given that the media's duty is to contain and manage crises in line with the public interest, without exaggeration or exacerbation. Media also plays a significant and effective role in crisis management in general, particularly in the crises faced by boxers and the administrative bodies of sports clubs dedicated to this sport. This is attributed to the influential role of media in the sports community and society at large, facilitated by the rapid dissemination of news and its impact on society, whether positively or negatively. Conclusion. The scale used in the study proves to be a valuable tool for detecting the level and role of media in creating crises, according to the perspectives of administrative body members in boxing clubs. The highest percentage for the sample in the scale of the media's role in creating crises was at a moderate level.

Abstract

Study purpose. Sprint events (100m, 200m, 400m) are high-performance athletic activities that rely on coordinated movement transfer governed by specific mechanical principles. Researchers have continually sought to identify the most effective training methods to enhance the performance of sprinters. The study's research problem is centered on determining the effectiveness of training in different natural environments (dense grass, soft sand, and hard soil) and identifying which training surface is most beneficial for improving selected biomechanical variables in sprinters. Materials and method. The study aimed to examine the impact of training in different natural environments (excluding tartan tracks) and to determine which surface yields the most significant improvements for sprint runners. To achieve this, the researchers implemented an eight-week training program with two training sessions per week, using consistent sprint distances across all surfaces (10m, 20m, 30m, 40m, and 50m). The research sample consisted of 18 sprinters specializing in sprint events, divided into three equal groups: six for the 100m, six for the 200m, and six for the 400m. These athletes were in the specialized preparation phase and had participated in the first round of the Iraqi Clubs Championship in Sulaymaniyah on March 15, 2024, in preparation for the third round scheduled for October 20, 2024, in the same location. Results. The researchers analyzed four biomechanical variables: time, velocity, stride length, and stride frequency. These variables were measured over a 50-meter flying start using five perpendicular motion-analysis cameras positioned every 10 meters. The statistical method used was analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine which training surface had the greatest impact on performance. Cunclotions. The study concluded that training on soft sand had a statistically significant effect, while the other surfaces did not show significant improvements. The researchers recommended conducting similar studies on different athlete categories and other athletic events.

Abstract

Study purpose. This study aims to measure the effect of a holistic approach-based tennis training model on improving Backhand and Forehand stroke skills in junior tennis athletes. The holistic training model used in this study emphasises the integration of technical, mental, and physical aspects simultaneously, in contrast to conventional models that focus more on mechanical repetition of techniques. Materials and Methods. This study used an experimental design with 11 participants who were divided into two groups: an experimental group that participated in training based on a holistic approach and a control group that used a conventional training model. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test tests to measure Backhand and Forehand technique skills. The average pre-test score for Forehand was 15.27, while the post-test increased to 17.18. For Backhand, the pre-test average was 15.45, and the post-test average was 16.73. Statistical analysis was performed with t-test to compare the difference in pre-test and post-test scores. Results. The results showed an increase in Forehand and Backhand scores after the training, but the changes were not statistically significant. Nonetheless, the holistic training model showed a positive impact on skill improvement with a difference (D) for Forehand of 35.00 and for Backhand of 22.00. The variation in results on the Forehand was greater with a post-test standard deviation of 3.488, while the Backhand showed less variation with a post-test standard deviation of 3.133. The inconsistency of these results suggests that despite the improvement in skills, the effectiveness of the holistic training model still requires further testing. Conclusions. The holistic approach-based training model is more effective in improving junior tennis skills compared to conventional methods, especially on Forehand technique. However, to achieve more consistent results, this approach needs to be further customised. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term benefits of this training model and its applicability in other sports.
