Abstract

The use of the surgical safety checklist (SSC) at the Central Surgical Installation of Ngesti Waluyo Parakan Christian Hospital still reaches 80%. At times of tight operating schedules, using conventional SSC forms requires more time. This causes the surgical team to have difficulty adhering to the SSC procedure’s correct timing. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of simulated use of digital SSC on the implementation of SSC. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest and posttest approach on 12 saturated sampling respondents, and the data was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test. The results of the intervention with the use of digital SSC showed an increase from a pretest value of 21.0000 to a posttest score of 23.9167, or about 12.15%. The results of the Wilcoxon Test showed a ρ-value of 0.002 (< α= 0.05), which showed that there was an influence of the simulation of the use of digital SSC on the implementation of SSC at the Central Surgical Installation of Ngesti Waluyo Parakan Christian Hospital.

Abstract

A hospital provides complete individual health services, including inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. Hospital outpatient services are health services provided in polyclinics. Based on the Health Ministry data in 2007, the ideal outpatient service time is less than 60 minutes. However, in practice, there are still services in polyclinics that exceed the standard time that has been set. Long waiting times can result in boredom, dissatisfaction with service for patients, and the potential for complaints. This study aims to analyze the waiting times for polyclinic patients in several hospitals and determine the causes of waiting times exceeding the provisions. This research uses a literature review method, which involves reviewing several journal articles. The data found resulted from a Google Scholar-based literature review of articles using the keywords: waiting time, waiting time analysis, and polyclinic waiting time, with a journal publication time limit of 2019 to 2023. There were 8 articles that met the criteria. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that there are still many services in polyclinics with waiting times of more than 60 minutes. The causes of waiting times exceeding those set by the Health Ministry in 2007 include the length of time in providing medical record files, the length of the patient examination process, the queues for patient registration piling up, and doctor delays. Hospitals that find cases of long waiting times are expected to be able to create new systems or regulations that are expected to be able to improve existing services related to patient waiting times in polyclinics.

Abstract

GERMAS (Community Movement for Healthy Living) is a program organized by the Ministry of Health that aims to improve the quality of life. GERMAS invites the community to cultivate healthy living to change unhealthy habits or behaviours. However, public awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle is still lacking in its implementation. The problem regarding the implementation of GERMAS occurs in some parts of Indonesia. Many people do not understand the negative impacts of unhealthy habits and do not have the motivation to change their behaviour. This research aims to know the extent to which the GERMAS program is implemented in Indonesia and provide an evaluation of the program's implementation. This research is a literature study that analyses and reviews previous research. The databases used were Garuda and Google Scholar database, using the keywords GERMAS evaluation, GERMAS program, and GERMAS implementation. This review applies restrictions on the year of publication, namely from 2019 to 2023. Ten articles met the criteria. Results of the study showed that there are still obstacles based on the evaluation of the GERMAS implementation program in Indonesia. Therefore, the government needs to monitor, evaluate, and take action to overcome obstacles to the implementation of the GERMAS program in order to increase the effectiveness of the GERMAS program in clean and healthy living behaviour in the community in Indonesia.

Abstract

Work fatigue can negatively impact the productivity, well-being, and safety of workers in the industry. The garment industry, known for its high workload, tight time demands, and ambitious production schedules, often exposes workers to an increased fatigue risk. This study aims to determine the effect of stretching on work fatigue in garment workers at PT CI Karanganyar. This quasi-experimental study employed a pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The study involved 40 production workers in the garment work section at PT CI Karanganyar, with 20 workers assigned to the intervention and other 20 workers to the control groups. Work fatigue was measured using the Subjective Self-Rating Test questionnaire. The analysis of the results using the Paired Sample T-Test showed that the p-value was <0.001 in the experimental group, while in the control group, it was 0.097. The Independent Sample T-Test analysis revealed a p-value of 0.015. These findings suggest that stretching has a significant effect on reducing work fatigue among production workers at PT CI Karanganyar.

Abstract

In adolescent girls, puberty is marked by the onset of menstruation, which is accompanied by physical, mental and social changes. Menstruation is a natural process that women usually experience, but this can become a problem if menstrual disorders occur. The high prevalence of menstrual disorders is caused by various factors such as stress, lifestyle, physical activity, medical conditions, hormonal disorders and nutritional status. This research aims to determine the factors associated with menstrual disorders in adolescent girls. This research uses a descriptive correlation design using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling method in this research uses probability sampling, namely stratified random sampling and simple random sampling at each level. The instruments used in this research were questionnaires and body mass index measurements. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The results of this study showed that age (p-value 0.859) and class (p-value 0.968) did not have a significant relationship with menstrual disorders in young women. Meanwhile, stress levels (p value 0.007), nutritional status (p value 0.033) and physical activity (p value 0.024) have a significant relationship with menstrual disorders in adolescent girls. It is hoped that the results of this research can become learning material and information for teenagers and avoid factors that can disrupt the menstrual cycle so that they can practice it in their daily activities.

Abstract

Trichomoniasis is one of the sexually transmitted infectious diseases caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. It is transmitted through sexual intercourse. Women sex workers with a tendency to change partners are at high risk of contracting or transmitting this disease. The study aims to analyze the relationship between condom use and the discovery of T. vaginalis. The research is observational with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample used a total sampling technique, namely WPS (Wanita Pekerja Seks/ Women sex workers) on Krakal beach, Gunungkidul, totalling 40 people. The research data was obtained from microscopic observations of T. vaginalis and questionnaire results, which were then tested with chi-squares. Most sex workers who use condoms have a negative result of 19 (47.5%). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between condom use and the incidence of T. vaginalis infection, with a significant value of 0.003 (p-value < 0.05), which was smaller than the alpha value of 0.05 (5%). The use of safety devices (condoms) in risky sexual activities is a strategy to prevent the transmission of T. vaginalis infection.

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the most common jobs in the informal sector as a source of livelihood to support the lives of people in Indonesia. However, the behaviour of workers in this industry is still far from good towards risk management and optimal management. One of the health problems that farmers often experience is the problem of irritant contact dermatitis. Irritant contact dermatitis is also an occupational disease in the agricultural sector. Personal hygiene, such as proper hand washing with soap and running water, is one of the factors that has a major impact on the incidence of contact dermatitis. The purpose of this study was to determine the variables that influence the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis in farmers in Pallantikang Village, Jenneponto District. This research is a quantitative research with cross sectional study design. This research was conducted in Pallantikang Village, Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The total sample size was 384 farmers. Farmers aged >45 years had a 1.7 times higher risk of dermatitis than farmers aged 12-45 years. Farmers who have been working for more than 5 years are at 1.5 times the risk of dermatitis than farmers who have been working for 0-5 years. Farmers who did not use PPE had a 1.7 times risk of suffering from dermatitis than farmers who used PPE such as masks. It is expected that health workers at the local health centre provide counselling to farmers regarding the toxic hazards that exist in the pesticides used by farmers and the prevention that can be done to minimise their impact such as the use of PPE so that dermatitis symptoms can be avoided.

Abstract

According to WHO (World Health Organization), the maternal mortality rate reached a ratio of 211 deaths per 100,000 live births globally.  Data from the Central Statistics Agency of Indonesia in 2015 showed that maternal mortality on the island of Java-Bali ranked in second place at 247 deaths per 100,000 live births. The government has made various efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality. In order to carry out optimal pregnancy care, mothers need support from people around them. The research aims to describe the husband's role in care from pregnancy to postpartum during the new normal era of COVID-19. Method: Cross-sectional research with recall survey approach was conducted from March to June 2022 in the Sidodadi sub-district. The study population was the husbands of the mothers who had given birth. The population was 110, and a sample of 53 people was obtained using purposive sampling technique. The inclusion criteria were husbands of mothers with children aged ≤ 1 year, and willing to be respondents. This research instrument is a Google Form questionnaire. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The results of this study showed that most respondents indicated that the role of the husband during pregnancy to postpartum was good, with 98%.

Abstract

Malaria is a disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite, with the first symptoms being fever, headache, and chills, usually appearing 10-15 days after an infective mosquito bite and may be mild and difficult to recognize as malaria. Plasmodium parasite, which is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. There are five species of parasites that cause malaria in humans; 2 of these species are P. falciparum and P. vivax – posing the greatest threat. P. falciparum is the deadliest malaria parasite and is most commonly found on the African continent, while P. vivax is the dominant malaria parasite in most countries outside sub-Saharan Africa. This research aims to analyze the risk factors that influence the use of mosquito nets, the use of anti-mosquito medication, the habit of leaving the house, and the existence of mosquito breeding sites on the incidence of malaria in Indonesia. The method in this research uses meta-analysis, which is a statistical method that combines several research results quantitatively by looking for effect size or summary values using JASP software version 0.16.4. The data source in this research comes from Google Scholar, and sorting was carried out according to the inclusion-exclusion criteria. Fourteen research articles were obtained. The results of secondary data from the meta-analysis method showed that the variable using mosquito nets had a risk 2.013 times greater, the variable using anti-mosquito medication had a risk 2.915 times greater, the variable habit of going out of the house had a risk 2.886 times greater, and the variable the existence of a nesting place had a risk 3.560 times Indonesia has a greater incidence of malaria. The conclusion from the results of the meta-analysis is that there is the greatest level of risk for the incidence of malaria in Indonesia; the variable is the existence of mosquito breeding places, the use of mosquito repellent, the habit of leaving the house, and the lowest variable is the use of mosquito nets. Efforts to control the risk of malaria in Indonesia include using mosquito nets when sleeping, using mosquito repellent, reducing activities outside the home at night, and cleaning mosquito breeding areas around the house.
