Abstract

The health condition of children in the world, especially in Indonesia, is still relatively low compared to ASEAN countries, such as Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam. Indonesia is a developing country that still faces various health problems, including clean and healthy behaviour. The low level of implementation of PHBS in children means that children tend to get sick quickly, and they are also a group that is very vulnerable to disease. The purpose of writing this literature review is to look at the factors that most influence the implementation of PHBS in children. This research data was taken from four relevant databases, PubMed, Science Direct, EBSCO and Google Scholar, using the PIOS (Participant, Intervention, Outcomes and Study Design) method and MeSH terms in the search engine. The data are taken from journals published in 2020-2024, in English and Indonesian (open access and full text) and original articles. Of the 918 articles found, only eight (8) articles met the inclusion criteria.  The results of this literature review explain that several factors influence clean and healthy living behaviour, namely parenting patterns, attitudes, level of knowledge, and the role of health workers. Of these several factors, one factor is most dominant in implementing children's clean-living behaviour, namely the parenting style factor.

Abstract

Mental health issues that are not optimally addressed during childhood, particularly among elementary school-aged children, have a significant correlation with an increased risk of mental health problems in later stages of life, namely adolescence or young adulthood. Depression is the most common mental health issue experienced by children, followed by social, behavioural, and emotional disorders, anxiety, psychological distress, internet addiction, stress, social phobia, sexual and emotional abuse, violence, as well as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders. The variety of mental health issues experienced by children highlights the importance of early attention and intervention to support healthy mental development and prevent long-term adverse effects. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the factors influencing the mental health of elementary school-aged children, including risk and protective factors. A quantitative descriptive study was conducted at SDN Inpres Kolongan, North Sulawesi, using a survey method on a population of 171 students aged 9-14 years, with total sampling resulting in 171 respondents. Data was collected using the Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire for Children (SDQC). The findings of this study revealed a significant "abnormal" score in the emotional symptoms category (66.7%) and behavioural problems category (48%). Meanwhile, "borderline" scores were dominated by behavioural problems (18.1%) and hyperactivity (15.2%). For the "normal" category, the majority were in the prosocial behaviour category (88.9%) and hyperactivity (74.3%). Thus, this study contributes to strategies for preventing mental health disorders in the future and the development of more holistic mental health policies for children, particularly in the field of mental health nursing.

Abstract

The Community Health Center Information System is a program that provides information about all health facilities at the first facility level, namely the Community Health Center. SIMPUS (The Community Health Center Information System) is useful for looking at the needs and capabilities of community health centres in managing, processing and preserving data. In its implementation at Community Health Centers, not all Community Health Centers can run SIMPUS well. The biggest obstacle to implementing SIMPUS is the lack of training provided to the human resources personnel who will use it.  This research aims to determine and analyze the implementation of SIMPUS use at Community Health Centers. The research method used was a literature review of several journal articles. The data found resulted from a literature review of articles based on Google Scholar using the keywords SIMPUS and the Puskesmas information system with a journal publication time limit of 2019 to 2024. There were 12 articles that met the criteria. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that several obstacles experienced by SIMPUS in each Community Health Center were not in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, such as network problems and training for human resources. By finding obstacles in the implementation of SIMPUS, it will be possible to improve the implementation of SIMPUS in the future.

Abstract

WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding because of its short-term and long-term benefits for infants and mothers. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding has not yet reached the expected target. This study aims to describe breastfeeding barriers experienced or felt by breastfeeding mothers and to determine the relationship between breastfeeding barriers and maternal demographic variables. The study was conducted using quantitative methods and a cross-sectional approach. The study subjects were mothers with infants aged 0-2 years in the Bulu Health Center work area, Temanggung Regency, a total of 122 people were taken using the cluster-random sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation analysis. The results showed that the most common breastfeeding barriers felt by respondents were experiencing sore nipples (59%), being embarrassed to breastfeed in public (54.1%), swollen breasts (51.2%), feeling inadequate knowledge about breastfeeding (40.5%), and feeling pain after childbirth (38.5%). Correlational analysis showed no significant relationship between breastfeeding barriers and maternal age, number of children, maternal education, occupation, and type of delivery (p-value>0.05). In conclusion, most mothers experience at least one barrier to breastfeeding. Appropriate interventions are needed to address these barriers, especially in terms of increasing the knowledge of mothers or prospective mothers about lactation so that they can prevent breast problems. Further qualitative research is needed to explore the barriers or supporting factors in providing exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The prevalence of sexually transmitted infections, such as AIDS, suffered by adolescents aged 15-19 years old, males, was as high as 46 adolescents in Bandung City in 2022. There are several ways to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections, including abstaining from sexual activity, using condoms, reducing the frequency of intercourse, practicing monogamy, and choosing partners who are not much different in age. Therefore, there is a need to do health education about sexually transmitted infections. The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of providing health education about sexually transmitted infections on the knowledge of adolescents at a private high school in Bandung. The study used a quantitative approach. The type of research is a pre-experimental design with a One-Group Pre-Test Post-Test design. The respondents’ study were 142 adolescents in grades XI and XII of a private high school in Bandung, selected using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. The research instrument utilized PowerPoint and a questionnaire that had been tested for validity, yielding a validity coefficient of 0.361, which can be considered valid. The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the study showed that at the pre-test, more than half of the respondents had a good level of knowledge (50.7%), and at the post-test, almost all respondents had a good level of knowledge (94.4%). The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test obtained a significance value of p-value <0.001 (p-value<0.05), which showed that there was an effect of education on sexually transmitted infection health in adolescents at SMA Nasional Bandung. As a suggestion, the private high schools in Bandung are expected to provide additional learning about sexually transmitted infections in adolescents.
