Abstract

Anemia is defined as a condition in which the number of red blood cells or hemoglobin (Hb) levels in the blood are below normal. Anemia in pregnant women can hinder fetal growth and development and can lead to stunting. Adolescent girls are the group most vulnerable to anemia. The purpose of this counseling activity is to increase the understanding of adolescents and the community about the dangers of anemia to reduce anemia cases among adolescents and support efforts to achieve zero stunting in Cirebon Regency, particularly in Kaliwulu Village. This activity was carried out on July 27, 2024, using counseling methods with leaflets and posters as media. The activity began with a pre-test, followed by counseling, and then a post-test. The increase in knowledge was assessed by analyzing the difference between pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (P = 0.003), indicating that anemia education has a positive effect on the respondents' knowledge levels. The authors hope that this activity can continue so that Kaliwulu Village can be free from anemia and achieve zero stunting.

Abstract

The village of Tawangrejo possesses several potential developments, particularly in the livestock sector, but the maintenance of livestock generally relies on forage without additional mineral supplements. Therefore, assistance is necessary to facilitate the production of Herbal Mineral Block (HMB) supplements for the breeders. This program is designed to impart knowledge and skills on producing additional mineral supplements for ruminant livestock feed to enable breeders to produce HMB supplements independently. The methods used were socialization, distribution of HMB informational leaflets, hands-on demonstrations of HMB production, and pre-test and post-test evaluations to measure the program's success. The results of the assessment of changes in conditions before and after the program showed that there was an increase in the knowledge, attitudes, and breeders’ skills of Tawangrejo. In the high category, the knowledge aspect increased from 14.3% to 100%, the attitude aspect increased from 57.1% to 100%, and the skills aspect increased from 4.8% to 95.2%. Through this program, Tawangrejo breeders are assessed as having an understanding of additional mineral supplements as important for livestock health and having the skills to make HMB independently. Adding HMB supplements to livestock can increase productivity, nutrient absorption, and body weight.

The activities were carried out at Loji Village and the IPB Palabuhanratu Marine Field Station. Activities were carried out using FGD methods, interviews, technical training and trials of catching crustaceans. The KUB Berkah Sagara Partner Fishermen are between 30 and 59 years of age and have with a formal education level between elementary and vocational/high school. Skills fishing have been passed down from generation to generation and they are not yet aware of the innovation of the 2-deck krendet trap and the frozen bait booster innovation. After the training activities, the fishermen finally understood the 2-deck krendet trap and frozen bait booster innovation. Fishermen carry out trial activities to catch crustaceans alternately on each trip. The 2-door 2-deck krendet trap provides a higher catch of crustaceans in term of the number of tails and weight compared to traditional, 1-door and 3-door of 2-deck krendet trap. The average distribution of crustaceans caught in 2-deck krendet trap was more than 70% in the bottom trap and <30% in the upper trap. The use of a 2-door of 2-deck krendet trap should be operated with a single buoy colony system with a ratio between the number of 2-deck krendet traps and the number of frozen bait boosters of 5:1, where the frozen bait booster is placed in a collapsible trap and the 2-deck krendet trap uses trash fish bait, such as sardine or pony fish.
