Abstract

This service activity aims to increase students' knowledge of waste, introduce students to multicultural concepts, and develop tourism in Benteng Village through cleanliness and Japanese. The main target of this program is 5th grade students of SDN Benteng 01. The method of activity implementation includes interactive teaching by native speakers, pre-test, post-test, observation, hands-on practice, and literature review. Japanese language education delivered directly by native speakers is able to increase students' courage, critical thinking, motivation to learn, and increase global insight. The introduction of Japanese is seen as an innovative step to support the development of new tourism potential in Benteng Village, along with the foreign culture tourism that has been developed in the village. In addition, waste education was conducted by providing material on the types of waste and how to process them, which ended with fun activities such as singing songs about waste and making tanabata. The pre-test and post-test results were analyzed using the paired sample t-test parametric test and showed a significant increase in students' knowledge related to waste, while the results of the tanabata in the form of hanging pots were displayed in front of the school. This activity has great potential in tourism development in Benteng Village. With an understanding of waste and Japanese language from an early age, it can make students aware of the importance of protecting the environment and motivated to study harder. This program has succeeded in developing tourism in Benteng Village indirectly, which may be felt in the coming years.

Abstract

The MSME Gedang Kriuk in Cibitung Wetan Village processes young papayas into value-added products that is becoming a signature souvenir of Pamijahan. However, the business owners still face marketing limitations and do not yet have proper packaging labels. To address these challenges, an assistance program was carried out focusing on packaging label development and digital marketing through social media. The program aimed to enhance product competitiveness and expand marketing reach beyond the village area. It was conducted from January 4–20, 2025, in Cidamar, Cibitung Wetan Village, Pamijahan, Bogor Regency. Activities began with identifying the problems faced by the business owners. The implemented solutions included creating packaging labels and providing guidance on digital marketing, particularly through the establishment of an Instagram account, @galeri.citanku, as a promotional platform for local MSMEs. Digital marketing efforts involved uploading promotional photos and videos, which successfully increased product reach, as indicated by the number of content views exceeding the account’s follower count. As a result, Gedang Kriuk MSME received several new orders, experienced a higher frequency of purchases, and gained positive consumer responses toward its more attractive packaging design.

Abstract

Taro (Colocasia esculenta) as a leading commodity in Bogor Regency faces challenges in technology adoption, price fluctuations, and post-harvest infrastructure, so a participatory approach such as a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) is needed to formulate innovative and applicable solutions. This FGD activity aims to identify challenges, opportunities, and strategic solutions for taro farmers in Bogor Regency. Bogor taro is one of the leading commodities with high economic potential, both for the local market and for export. However, farmers face various challenges, such as low adoption of modern technology, price fluctuations, limited access to capital, weak farmer group organizations, and pest and disease attacks. The FGD was carried out in several stages, namely preparation, group discussion, data analysis, and follow-up. The FGD involved 29 participants consisting of taro farmers with diverse profiles based on age, education, farming experience, and land area. The results of the FGD showed several opportunities, such as the development of taro-based processed products, organic farming practices, and export potential. The proposed strategic solutions included technical training to increase productivity, diversification of processed products, government policy support, and strengthening the role of women and youth in farming. The results of this activity are expected to serve as a guide for stakeholders to promote the sustainability and development of the taro farming sector in Bogor Regency.

Abstract

A training program on the application of chitosan as a natural coating agent for smoked fish products was conducted for the Smoked Fish Processing Group at the Mushola Bukit Salam Rest Area, Prigi Village, Trenggalek Regency. The objective of this training was to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in utilizing chitosan as a natural preservative to extend shelf life and improve the quality of smoked fish. The training activities included interactive lectures, practical demonstrations on the preparation of chitosan solution, and evaluations comparing the shelf life of treated and untreated smoked fish products. Observational results indicated that smoked fish coated with chitosan exhibited a longer shelf life and greater resistance to fungal growth and insect contamination compared to uncoated samples. Additionally, questionnaire-based evaluations revealed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of the benefits and applications of chitosan. The training received highly positive feedback, with participants expressing interest in the continuation of similar programs. These findings suggest that chitosan training positively contributes to the capacity of local fish processors to produce safer, more hygienic, and market-competitive smoked fish products.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to improve the knowledge and skills of Kodokan Village residents in processing kitchen waste into liquid organic fertilizer (POC) as an environmentally friendly alternative fertilizer. The main problems faced by the community are the high prevalence of burning household organic waste and the strong dependence on chemical fertilizers in land management. The program was implemented in two stages, namely (i) a counselling session explaining the concept, benefits, and production techniques of POC, and (ii) a direct demonstration so that participants are able to apply the process independently. A total of 17 participants actively took part in the activity on 13 July 2025. The evaluation results through pre-test and post-test showed a significant improvement in all indicators of participants’ understanding, with an average increase of more than 60 percentage points. After the activities, participants began to utilise vegetable scraps and fruit peels to produce POC independently at home and apply it to their home gardens. In addition to reducing organic waste, this program also contributes to reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, improving soil fertility, and creating environmentally based business opportunities through the production of POC as a potential local product. Therefore, this program serves as an initial step for sustainable waste management and for empowering the rural economy.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of goat and sheep farmers in Cibeureum Wetan Village in early detection of livestock health and processing forage feed into silage to support year-round feed sustainability. The implementation method was participatory, involving counseling sessions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in making silage using local materials and conducting basic livestock health checks. The participants consisted of 27 farmers from three hamlets, with materials delivered by resource persons from the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of Sumedang Regency and students from the IPB University KKN-T Innovation program. The effectiveness of the activity was evaluated through a 10-question pre-test and post-test to measure knowledge improvement, as well as observation of participants’ practical skills. The evaluation results showed an average score increase of 6.92 points (8.25%) from the initial score, along with improved participants’ skills in conducting livestock health examinations and preparing silage according to procedures. This activity also generated sustainability initiatives, including the establishment of a small-scale silage production unit, utilization of local raw materials, and collaboration with external partners. In conclusion, the training successfully increased participants’ knowledge, improved their technical competencies, and created new entrepreneurial opportunities that support food security in the village.

Abstract

Ngadireso Village has significant agricultural potential, particularly in cultivating horticultural commodities such as cabbage, chili, and oranges, which serve as the main sources of livelihood for the local community. However, agricultural practices in Ngadireso Village are still largely dominated by the use of chemical-based fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides that pose risks to human health and the environment, while also increasing production costs. The community service activity conducted in Ngadireso Village aimed to enhance public understanding of the production of compost fertilizer, natural biopesticides, and bioherbicides that are more environmentally friendly, easy to make, and cost-effective. The methods used included socialization, demonstration of the production process, and hands-on practice with the Sri Rahayu 1 farmer group in Ngadireso Village. The materials used were locally sourced and easily obtainable within the village area. The results of the activity showed that the community was highly enthusiastic in participating in the training and gained a better understanding of the importance of sustainable agriculture. In addition to reducing dependency on synthetic chemicals, this activity also encouraged the utilization of local waste and promoted farmers’ self-reliance. It is expected that through this initiative, the people of Ngadireso Village will continue to develop a healthier, more economical, and environmentally conscious agricultural system.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the main chronic nutritional problems in Indonesia. Stunting can be addressed through education on balanced nutrition, stunting prevention, and supplementary feeding interventions (PMT). The Cerdas Gizi program aims to prevent and reduce stunting rates, create sustainable food security, and strengthen community self-reliance through the use of cassava as a local food source. This activity was conducted at the Telaga Biru Posyandu in Bangkonol Village, targeting posyandu cadres, pregnant women, and mothers with infants, with a total of 170 participants. The activity combined theoretical and practical educational approaches through interactive presentations, distribution of informational leaflets, demonstrations of cassava-based supplementary food preparation, and distribution of PMT menu books. The Cerdas Gizi program demonstrated significant improvement, evident in the active participation of partners in the supplementary food preparation process. Additionally, the active participation of the target group in the counseling sessions showed an increase in curiosity about preventing the risk of stunting in children. However, there were challenges during program implementation, including a lack of knowledge among some mothers about the importance of balanced nutrition and difficulties in maintaining consistent visits to the health post. Therefore, continued support is needed through ongoing guidance, regular education, and the utilization of local foods to optimize efforts in preventing stunting.
