Abstract

Tongkonan community forest has an important role in Torajanese livelihood. The forest could serve daily needs and diverse ceremonial materials for local people. The existence of this forest also has an ecological function in soil and water preservation. This research aims to study the structure and composition of vegetation in tongkonan community forest and determine the useful plant species for the local people. The research method was done by counting and identifying plants in plot samples for the study of the plant community structure and composition and brief interviews with the local people to reveal the purpose of the plant species. There are 30 plants species that found in plot samples belongs to 28 genera and 18 families. According to the family level, the dominant plant species in observation were Fabaceae (14,28 %) and Myrtaceae (10,71 %). Pine tree (Pinus merkusii) had the highest basal area of 7163.054 cm2 and the species with the highest Important Value of 35.486 %. Several species, however commonly cultivated in this area such as kakao (Theobroma cacao) and kopi (coffea robusta). Generally in the village, around 35 plant species (51,47 %) are used as a source of food, while 39 species (57,35 %) are used for other purposes, such as traditional medicine, firewood, materials for tools and crafting, and ornamental plant species.

Abstract

Tata kelola lahan dan hutan merupakan aspek krusial dalam menjaga keberlanjutan pengelolaan sumber daya alam. Penelitian ini mengkaji sejarah penguasaan lahan kelapa sawit dan kaitannya dengan deforestasi di Kabupaten Pasangkayu, Sulawesi Barat, menggunakan pendekatan spasial. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, diskusi kelompok terfokus, dan observasi lapangan selama 2020-2022. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 98% perubahan status kawasan hutan menjadi Areal Penggunaan Lain (APL) selama 1988-1999 diperuntukkan bagi perusahaan perkebunan sawit, dengan 61,24% didominasi Grup Astra pada 1996. Konversi 27.924 hektar lahan berhutan menjadi perkebunan sawit terjadi antara 1990-2019, utamanya oleh korporasi besar. Sementara itu, petani sawit rakyat yang tidak memiliki akses finansial dan politik hanya berkontribusi 20,9% dari total deforestasi terkait sawit. Temuan ini menantang narasi umum yang menyalahkan petani kecil sebagai penyebab utama deforestasi. Penelitian ini menyoroti betapa pentingnya memahami dinamika kekuasaan dalam tata kelola lahan untuk mencegah kesalahan justifikasi dalam perumusan kebijakan kehutanan dan perkebunan.

Abstract

Participatory mapping faces the dual challenge of generating data that is both valid for formal institutions and accessible to local communities, particularly those living adjacent to forest areas. This study aims to develop a participatory mapping model that integrates geospatial technology with diverse stakeholder needs, identify factors influencing community participation, and evaluate implementation impacts on data validity. Through a qualitative approach and methodological engagement within a participatory action research framework in Labbo Village, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, we developed an Integrated Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP+) model that combines Web-GIS with microclimate sensors. Data collection methods included in-depth interviews with key actors, focus group discussions, participatory observation, public consultations, and GPS measurements. Results indicate that appropriate technological integration significantly enhances data accuracy and community participation, particularly when aligned with immediate interests such as access to agricultural assistance programs and clarification of land/village boundaries. The model facilitates effective collaboration among stakeholders through a shared platform.Key supporting factors include adequate technological infrastructure and local political support, while unstable political dynamics and digital divides present significant barriers. PLUP+ successfully integrates local knowledge with geospatial technology,empowering communities in sustainable land use planning and natural resource management. This research contributes to bridging the gap between technological innovation and participatory approaches in resource governance, offering a scalable model for similar contexts globally.

Abstract

Social Forestry (PS) is a forest management program that grants management rights to local communities to access and manage forest areas legally and sustainably. This program not only aims to preserve the forest, but also to improve the welfare of the community, including in the aspect of food security and self-sufficiency.This study aims to evaluate the management of Community Forest (HKm) in North Toraja Regency with a focus on institutional and business aspects. Data collection was conducted through observation, structured interviews, and examination of institutional documents in three Forest Farmer Groups (KTH), namely Tambuntana, Tombang Riri, and Sipaelle. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and quota sampling methods. The results showed that the planning and institutional aspects were in the good category, with average scores of 110 and 109.57 respectively. However, other obligations such as the preparation of annual reports were classified as poor with a score of 39.13, indicating a lack of attention to documentation of activities. Community empowerment scored moderately well (46.09), which was influenced by the suboptimal role of Forest Management Unit extension workers in training and marketing Non-Timber Forest Products. The business governance aspect was also categorized as quite good (87.61), supported by the existence of a group business structure, but constrained by a lack of training and market access. Supporting factors for HKm management include the existence of planning documents, the desire to preserve the forest, and assistance from the government. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include the lack of member involvement, limited human resources, and not optimal government support in marketing Non-Timber Forest Products. Overall, the performance of community forest management in the three forest farmer groups is in the good category, but needs improvement in the aspects of administrative obligations and community empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and mapping the indication of ecosystem services in Watershed Masupu. The usefulness of this research as one of the reference in the determination of status of support capacity of environmental capacity in the preparation of environmental management and control plan, spatial plan of region, and become reference for next researcher. Masupu Watershed is upperstream part of Saddang Watershed which is administratively located in some areas of Mamasa Regency, Mamuju Regency, Pinrang Regency, Tana Toraja Regency and North Toraja Regency. This research uses the method of expert judgement of geomorphology and landcover to ecosystem services, which then analyzed of pairwise comparison matrix and data processing is done with the help of geographic information system. The results of this study indicate that the geomorphology of the Masupu Watershed is 8 types and landcover of the Masupu Watershed area is 12 types. The main function of the Masupu Watershed ecosystem services in the upperstream is the ecosystem services of recreation and ecotourism. The main function in the middle of Masupu Watershed is the clean water ecosystem services.

Abstract

Browning is the most problem in plant tissue culture, both in growing media and explants. Browning is formed by oxidation process of phenolic compounds thatcan caused tissue death. The objective of this study were to analyze the effect of antioxidants addition against browning and to determine the best antioxidant toinhibited browning of Gmelina arborea explant growing media. The research was conducted by two steps, namely preparation of Murashige and Skoog (MS) media which are added 2,4-D growth regulators and addition of antioxidant PVP, ascorbic acid and activated charcoal. The results indicated that the addition ofantioxidants in the media were able to inhibit browning process of the media as well as in the explant. Moreover, the ascorbic acid performed better ability to inhibit browning process compared to the other antioxidants.

Abstract

Penyusunan rencana tata ruang wilayah yang tidak sesuai dengan daya dukung lingkungan dapat menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan, untuk itulah penentuan daya dukung lingkungan kemudian diatur dalam Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup RI No 17 tahun 2009. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui 1) Status daya dukung lahan sawah di Sub DAS Lengkese, 2) Mencari upaya meningkatkan daya dukung lahan sawah di Sub DAS Lengkese. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sub DAS Lengkese meliputi 2 (dua) Kecamatan yaitu Kecamatan Tinggimoncong dan Kecamatan Parigi. Pada penelitian ini variabel yang dianalisis adalah daya dukung lahan sawah di Sub DAS Lengkese. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksploratif dengan menggunakan metode survey dan pengukuran langsung dilapangan dan dilakukan wawancara dengan menggunakan kuisioner serta melakukan diskusi melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dengan petani, penyuluh pertanian dan stakeholder pada unit lahan yang memiliki aktivitas pertanian sawah. Analisis daya dukung lahan berdasarkan pada Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup RI No 17 tahun 2009, upaya peningkatan daya dukung lahan dengan Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dan Analitical Hierarcy Process (AHP). Hasil Penelitian diperoleh semua desa di Sub DAS Lengkese berstatus Surplus karena nilai kebutuhan lahan (DL) lebih rendah dari ketersediaan lahan (SL) yang menunjukkan bahwa ketersediaan lahan setempat di suatu wilayah masih dapat mencukupi kebutuhan akan produk hayati di wilayah tersebut. Upaya peningkatan daya dukung lahan lebih memprioritaskan pada komponen dukungan prasarana, dukungan sarana, dan produktivitas lahan.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and to assess the accuracy of soil and water conservation techniques applied by the community in Tabo-Tabo Village, Bungoro District, Pangkep Regency. This research was conducted from June to October 2018. The type of data collected is primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained by direct observation in the field in the form of surveys and interviews while secondary data collection was in the form of administrative map from BPS and land use cover map from BPKH. The results of soil and water conservation technique in TaboTabo Village, Bungoro District, Pangkep Regency were 74.3% from 35 farmers in the right category and 25.7% inappropriate category. The conservation technique used by farmers in TaboTabo Village were a vegetative technique in the form of cover crops, mixed gardens, yards and living fences, while mechanical techniques include bench terraces and flat terraces.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan semai sengon buto pada berbagai komposisi pot media semai berbahan dasar sampah organik. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap. Terdiri dari 13 perlakuan (perbandingan komposisi bahan penyusun pot media semai kompos : arang sekam : tanah liat) yaitu P1 (55% : 35% : 10%), P2 (55% : 30% : 15%), P3 (55% : 25% : 20%), P4 (55% : 20% : 25%), P5 (60% : 30% : 10%), P6 (60% : 25% : 15%), P7 (60% : 20% : 20%), P8 (60% : 15% : 25%), P9 (65% : 25% : 10%), P10 (65% : 20% : 15%), P11 (65% : 15% : 20%), P12 (65% : 10% : 25%) dan K (Tanah). Variabel yang diamati adalah tinggi semai, diameter batang, biomassa, Rasio Pucuk Akar (RPA), dan Indeks Mutu Bibit (IMB). Data dianalisis secara statistik dengan Analisis Sidik Ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi sampah organik sebagai bahan dasar pot media semai berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap pertumbuhan tinggi, pertumbuhan diameter, RPA, Biomassa, IMB semai sengonbuto dan P1 memberikan pengaruh paling efektif pada pertumbuhan semai sengon buto, khususnya pada variabel tinggi (30,0887 cm), biomassa (6,0810 g), dan IMB (0,4859).

Abstract

Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) di wilayah perkotaan memiliki beragam fungsi ekologis yang krusial, termasuk sebagai penyerap karbon dioksida (CO2), penyedia oksigen, dan pengelolaan air hujan. Salah satu komponen utama RTH yang memberikan dampak langsung terhadap lingkungan perkotaan yaitu jalur hijau. Pohon-pohon yang terdapat di sepanjang jalur hijau jalan tidak hanya memberikan perlindungan dari paparan langsung sinar UV tetapi juga berperan dalam menciptakan mikroklimat yang lebih sejuk dan nyaman terutama di kota Ambon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi yang lebih mendalam mengenai struktur dan komposisi pohon di jalur hijau Kota Ambon, khususnya pada jalur hijau jalan, agar dapat bermanfaat dalam mendukung proses perencanaan kota yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sepanjang jalur hijau di Kota Ambon pada 4 kecamatan. Setiap jalur hijau dibuat transek garis dengan ukuran bervariasi, disesuaikan dengan distribusi, struktur, jumlah pohon, dan diukur diameter dan tinggi pohon pada setiap jalur. Kemudian data yang telah diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan rumus Simpson dan Shannon-Winner. Hasil penelitian didapatkan di Kota Ambon, jalur hijau jalan didominasi oleh pohon-pohon muda dengan diameter berkisar antara 10-20 cm. Adapun jenis pohon yang dominan di sepanjang jalur hijau jalan Kota Ambon yakni jenis Samanea saman. Jenis ini memiliki jumlah individu terbanyak serta berkontribusi signifikan terhadap kerapatan relatif, frekuensi relatif, dominasi relatif, dan nilai INP. Dominasi jenis Samanea saman di sepanjang jalur hijau Kota Ambon sangat dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan adaptasinya yang luar biasa terhadap lingkungan perkotaan sehingga jenis ini sebagai pilihan utama dalam pengelolaan Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) Kota Ambon.
