Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a significant risk factor for morbidity and mortality associated with cardiovascular disease. The relationship between hypertension and stress is bidirectional, where hypertension can trigger stress through physiological and emotional response mechanisms. Stress activates the nervous system by increasing the production of hormones such as cortisol and adrenal. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of deep breathing relaxation on stress levels of hypertension patients. Method: This study used a quasi eksperiment one-group Pretest-Posttest design conducted in May 2025 at the Tambora District Health Center, West Jakarta. The sample size was 34 with a purposive sampling technique. Stress levels were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) questionnaire. The intervention provided was deep breathing relaxation for 14 days. Result: The results showed that the average stress level before the intervention 21.71 in the moderate category, then after the intervention the stress level score decreased to 10.41 in the normal category. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.00 (p<0.05), indicating a significant difference between stress levels before and after deep breathing relaxation. Conclusion: This study concluded that deep breathing relaxation is effective in reducing stress levels in hypertension patients and can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention for hypertension patients that is easily implemented in primary health care.

Abstract

Introduction: Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTIs) are acute infections that affect the respiratory tract from the nose to the alveoli, including related organs such as the sinuses, middle ear cavity, and pleura. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report in 2024, URTIs account for 6% of the global disease burden, resulting in approximately 6.6 million child deaths annually, with 95% of these fatalities occurring in low-income countries. The incidence of pneumonia in West Java was reported at 32.2% in 2020, increasing to 44.9% in 2022. Data from Ciamis Regency indicates that URTIs represent the disease with the highest prevalence. In 2019, the highest number of cases of pneumonia among toddlers was recorded in Cipaku (350 cases), Rancah (324 cases), and Banjarsari. Objective: The objective of this case study is to examine children experiencing Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTIs) with ineffective airway clearance. Method: The research design employed is a descriptive case study with a nursing care approach for children with Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI). Result: The results of the case study during the assessment phase revealed that the client was experiencing productive cough. Following the assessment, a diagnosis of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) was established, specifically identifying ineffective airway clearance (D. 0001) related to retained secretions. The intervention plan focused on administering simple inhalation therapy using eucalyptus oil aromatherapy. This inhalation was conducted for 10-15 minutes in two sessions per day, in the morning and evening, over a consecutive three-day period. The evaluation indicates an improvement in airway patency in the patient, An.M, diagnosed with URTI. Conclusion: In conclusion, the implementation of simple inhalation therapy using eucalyptus oil has proven to be effective in demonstrating improvements in airway clearance in the patient, An.M.

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy causes physiological changes that may increase the risk of varicose veins, which can lead to discomfort and complications for both mother and fetus. Objective: This study aims to identify factors associated with the incidence of varicose veins in pregnant women at Selindung Primary Health Center in 2025. Method: This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive analytical design using a cross-sectional approach, which involved cross-tabulating the dependent and independent variables. The sample in this study was 110 women who underwent pregnancy check-ups at the Selindung Community Health Center. The sample size for this study was 60. Data analysis used the chi-square test with a 95% confidence interval. Result: The results of this study were to determine the relationship between the dependent variable, namely the incidence of varicose veins, and the independent variables. The statistical test results for the family history variable yielded a p-value of 0.001, the pregnancy gravida variable yielded a p-value of 0.005, the gestational age variable yielded a p-value of 0.012, the prolonged standing habit variable yielded a p-value of 0.026, and the harmonic contraception variable yielded a p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: The study concluded that the most influential factor was family history, with a POR value of 7.540. This is because genetic factors can influence the strength and elasticity of the vein walls, which are then exacerbated by physiological changes during pregnancy. Therefore, there is a significant association between family history and the incidence of varicose veins in pregnant women at the Selindung Primary Health Center in 2025.

Abstract

Introduction: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health concern in tropical countries, including Indonesia, where recurring outbreaks continue to contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality rates. Despite various preventive programs, such as mosquito nest eradication (PSN) and public education, the increasing incidence of DHF—especially among children—indicates that community knowledge and attitudes toward prevention remain insufficient. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between family knowledge and attitudes toward the prevention of DHF in children in the working area of Puskesmas Mentok in 2025. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design with a correlational analytic approach. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, involving 100 respondents who were families with children in the working area of Puskesmas Mentok. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted through univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05 Result: The results of this study showed a significant relationship between family knowledge and DHF prevention in children (p=0.001). There was also a significant relationship between family attitudes and DHF prevention in children (p=0.001). This indicates that family knowledge and attitudes positively influence preventive actions against DHF. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the higher the level of family knowledge and attitudes, the better the preventive actions for DHF in children. It is recommended that Puskesmas and related institutions continuously enhance health promotion and family health education programs through counseling, healthy environment campaigns, and family education to increase public awareness in DHF prevention.

Abstract

Introduction: Gastritis, or what we commonly know as stomach ulcers, is the beginning of a disease that can disrupt a person's quality of life. According to WHO data, the incidence of gastritis in Indonesia is 40.8%. This is due to a lack of public awareness about gastritis. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of health education using leaflets and flipcharts on patient knowledge about gastritis. Method: The study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest and posttest. The sample size was 82 patients. Quota sampling was used as the sampling technique. The instruments used were leaflets, flipcharts, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and an independent t-test with a 95% confidence level (α 0.05). Result: The results of the study indicate that health education using leaflets and flipcharts has an effect on patient knowledge about gastritis. The results of each study using leaflets and flipcharts obtained a p-value of (0.000) < ɑ (0.05). This data was also analyzed using a T-test of different variants, which showed a difference in the average level of patient knowledge after receiving health education about gastritis using leaflets and flipcharts. Judging from the average score of patient knowledge using leaflets and flipcharts, health education using flipcharts proved more effective in increasing patient knowledge about gastritis. The recommendation from this study is the need to increase awareness and commitment to providing information about gastritis, preferably using flipcharts and leaflets. Conclusion: The suggestion from this research is the need to increase awareness and commitment to be willing to provide information about gastritis, preferably using flipchart media and also through leaflets.
