Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is one of the growing health issues commonly found in developing countries, including Indonesia. Balanced nutritious food is a key factor in supporting the physical and cognitive development of students at SDN 69 Kota Banda Aceh. Objective: increase insight and increase awareness of students and parents about the concept of "Fill My Plate" and the importance of consuming nutritious food as an effort to prevent stunting Method: This program was attended by 83 students from grades 4 to 6 along with their parents. The series of activities included a preliminary survey, nutritional status assessment, and interactive educational sessions designed using lectures, video presentations, educational games, and a live demonstration of the "Isi Piringku" meal concept. Result: The conducted outreach program positively contributed to enhancing the knowledge of students and parents regarding stunting prevention efforts. The "Isi Piringku" food presentation demonstration actively engaged participants and provided practical understanding of the concept of balanced nutrition. However, the implementation of this activity also faced challenges, particularly due to varying levels of comprehension caused by age differences, which affected the younger participants' ability to absorb information. Conclusion: structured and comprehensive nutrition education significantly improved the knowledge of students, parents, and school staff regarding the importance of healthy eating habits to prevent stunting. Furthermore, the involvement of external parties such as UNICEF strengthened the sustainability and validity of the activity. The outcomes of this service indicate that a cross-sectoral and collaborative approach is essential in reducing stunting rates and providing practical, applicable knowledge to the community.

Abstract

Introduction: Family health is a crucial aspect of community life, with mothers playing a key role in managing minor health complaints such as headaches, muscle pain, and digestive issues. Traditional methods like Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) and acupressure offer effective, low-cost solutions. Objective: This community service program aimed to educate and train mothers in the Majelis Taklim on self-care management using TOGA and acupressure techniques to address minor health complaints. Method: The program employed a participatory approach, conducted in three stages: preparation (March–May 2024), implementation (June–October 2024), and evaluation (November 2024). Activities included TOGA education, acupressure training, safety discussions, holistic lifestyle counseling, and community forums. Quantitative (pre-test/post-test) and qualitative (observation, satisfaction surveys) evaluations were used to measure outcomes. Result: The program significantly improved participants' knowledge and skills, with 70% reporting high effectiveness of TOGA for minor ailments. Daily TOGA usage increased to 45%, and 65% of participants shifted from chemical drugs to natural remedies. Challenges included material availability (40%) and processing techniques (30%). Participant satisfaction reached 85%, and 60% disseminated knowledge to their communities. Abstract

Introduction: Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal problems, especially in the elderly. The causes of LBP include incorrect posture, lack of physical activity, and structural abnormalities of the spine. One effective and safe alternative to LBP treatment is non-pharmacological therapy in the form of cold packs, which work to reduce inflammation and draw pain impulses to sensory nerves. Objective: This activity aims to increase participants' knowledge about cold compress therapy in reducing low back pain. Method: The method used was direct education to 30 participants at Posyandu RW 5 Ledug, with measurement of knowledge level through pre-test and post-test. Education was delivered using leaflet media and demonstration of proper cold compress techniques. Result: The results of the activity showed a significant increase in knowledge. Before the education, only 10% of participants had good knowledge, and after the education, it increased to 80%. The majority of the elderly involved were over 60 years old and had a basic education level, but still showed enthusiasm and a good understanding of the material. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that cold compress therapy education is proven effective in increasing participants' knowledge about LBP management. This therapy can be a self-intervention that is easy to implement, safe, and efficient in community health services, especially for elderly groups who are prone to low back pain.
