Abstract

Introduction: According to WHO data, it is estimated that more than 40 million people need palliative care every year. This includes patients with cancer, heart disease, lung disease, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. Palliative patient care often involves support from the family, and this condition can affect the patient's quality of life as well as the family's own well-being. Many families do not have sufficient knowledge about palliative care, including how to manage symptoms, provide daily care, or understand the patient's emotional needs Objective: Participants in this activity totaled 35 people Method: The method for this community service activity is continuous counseling Result: Based on the training results, data showed that there was an increase in knowledge with the average increase in post-test results being 15.2 with the highest score on the post-test being 98. Conclusion: The conclusion of community service regarding increasing family knowledge in palliative care has succeeded in increasing family understanding and skills in caring for family members who need palliative care. Families now better understand the concept of palliative care, including aspects such as pain management, symptom control, and emotional support. These activities also help reduce the stigma that may exist regarding palliative care and overcome the uncertainty that families often feel. Better knowledge allows families to feel more prepared and confident in carrying out care

Abstract

Introduction: The success of maternal health programmes can be assessed through the key indicator of maternal mortality rate (MMR). Maternal mortality is defined as all deaths during the period of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium that are caused by its management but not due to other causes such as accidents or incidentals. Knowledge of danger signs in pregnancy is very helpful in reducing MMR, because by knowing the danger signs in pregnancy a pregnant woman will seek health services more quickly so that risks in pregnancy will be detected and handled earlier. Objective: This community service was carried out to increase the knowledge of pregnant women in the Cipaku Health Centre pregnant women class about danger signs in pregnancy. Method: The method of implementing this community service by providing education in the form of lectures, discussions and answering questions from participants. Result: The results of the pre-test given before the provision of education showed that there were 6 (60%) mothers who were able to answer the pre-test questions correctly. The post test was given after the provision of education, where the results showed that there were 10 (100%) pregnant women who could increase their knowledge about danger signs in pregnancy. Conclusion: Pregnant women are very enthusiastic in participating in activities that include providing education about pregnancy danger signs. Community service activities also increase the knowledge of pregnant women so that pregnant women can detect danger signs in pregnancy and immediately check with health workers if there are danger signs of pregnancy.

Abstract

Introduction: Based on data on the prevalence of hypertension in Tasikmalaya Regency in 2021, Most of the hypertension found in the elderly is isolated systolic blood pressure (HST), increased systolic pressure results in a high probability of stroke and myocardial infarction even if the diastolic pressure is within normal limits. Research shows that hypertension occupies 89% of cases of patients aged 45 to 80 years. The presence of hypertension, either HST or a combination of systolic and diastolic is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality for the elderly. Hypertension is still the biggest risk factor for a number of diseases, such as stroke, heart failure, coronary disease, where its role is estimated to be greater than in people who are younger. The purpose of this community service is for the elderly to understand more about hypertension. Objective: Participants in this activity totaled 41 people with an age range of 45 to 80 years Method: This community service goes through several methods and stages consisting of the preparation stage and the activity stage Result: Based on the results of the training, it was found that there was an increase in knowledge with an average increase in post-test results of 16.5 with the highest score in the post-test being 100. Conclusion: Based on community service, after initial treatment, namely by providing pharmacological treatment and non-pharmacological treatment, namely that after being given education, the number increased significantly. Continuous education is carried out to remind that hypertension is a chronic disease that results in complications and requires adherence to diet and drug management as well as changes in lifestyle that are carried out throughout his age.
