Abstract

Introduction: Common side effects of general anesthesia, particularly when administered by inhalation, include sore throat, coughing, and hoarseness after surgery. An effective cough is an attempt to alleviate sore throat, cough, and hoarseness in individuals who have had general anesthesia. In order to keep the lungs clean, it is important to cough properly so that secretions may be removed swiftly and efficiently. Objective: At Jatiwinangun Surgical Specialty Hospital, we aim to teach our patients how to cough effectively so that they can reopen their airways following general anesthesia. Method: After one round of general anesthesia, 30 participants will undergo effective coughing activities as part of this activity's methodology. One technique to evaluate a cougher's ability to clear their airways is with the use of a checklist and an observation sheet for airway clearing. This method takes into account the cougher's breathing rate, the noises they make when coughing, the strength of their breathing muscles, and how easily they clear their airways. Result: Ten participants (or 33.3% of the total) fell within the 26–35 age bracket, while nineteen (or 63.3% of the total) were female, fourteen (or 46.7% of the total) had only completed high school, and ten (or 33.3% of the total) were housewives. At least 21 participants (70.0%) had more knowledge regarding how to effectively apply cough training after receiving good-quality education, whereas 6 participants (20.0%) had adequate knowledge and 3 participants (10.0%) had less. After undergoing general anesthesia, 24 subjects (80.0%) had effective coughing abilities, whereas 6 people (20%) shown less competence. When it came time to observe airway clearance, the results showed that 93.3% of participants breathed normally, 83.3% did not make any extra ronchi breath sounds, 90.0% did not use any additional breathing muscles, and 80.0% of participants had no trouble clearing their airways. Conclusion: From the results of PkM it can be concluded that effective cough training can clear the airway in patients after general anesthesia.

Abstract

Introduction: As a kind of therapy, surgery involves cutting into the patient in order to reach the targeted location of the body. The risk of hypothermia is a potential consequence of anesthesia. A dangerous drop in core temperature, below 36 degrees Celsius, causes hypothermia. One way to alleviate cold symptoms is using a warm compress. An alternative to using hot packs to raise core temperature is a warm compress. Hot packs have many advantages over buli-buli, the most notable of which is that they can be reused and never run out of steam. Objective: This community service activity is to implement hot packs on hypothermic patients. Method: As part of their community service, volunteers take patients' temperatures using electronic thermometers. Including thirty individuals who were found to have hypothermia. Result: Impact of Volunteer Work Hypothermia after administration of a hot pack, with a pre-package average temperature of 35.20 degrees Celsius Average core temperature before administration of the hot pack: 36.50 °C Body temperature values ranged from 34.10C before implementation to 36.70C thereafter, with a low value of 35.10C and a high value of 35.90C before and after, respectively. Conclusion: This proves that there is an increase in body temperature in hypothermic patients after implementing Hot packs.

Abstract

Introduction: Performing a sectio caesarea is done to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby, since there are risks and difficulties that might arise during a natural delivery. Nonpharmacological treatment, namely distraction strategies, may help pregnant women manage their anxiety before, during, and after surgery by focusing their attention away from the worries that arise regarding the health of both mother and child. Using distraction strategies might help alleviate anxiety, particularly during pregnancy, by diverting one's attention to something else. If you suffer from severe anxiety, one method to alleviate it is to listen to music. Objective: Music therapy is an example of a non-pharmacological treatment that this community service aims to put into place so that patients can enhance their physical and mental well-being through the use of structured auditory stimuli that include melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre, form, and style. Method: As a kind of community service, this activity makes use of listening to five or ten minutes of classical music on headphones. Result: Fifteen individuals (or 50.0% of the total) reported moderate anxiety levels before classical music therapy was implemented, whereas six participants (20.0% of the total) reported severe anxiety levels. Among the individuals, 10 (33.3%) reported moderate anxiety, 19 (63.3%) mild anxiety, and 1 (3.3%) severe anxiety after the use of rose aromatherapy. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that classical music therapy can reduce the anxiety level of patients before cesarean section surgery with spinal anesthesia.
