MUKASI (Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi) adalah jurnal ilmu komunikasi nasional peer-review yang diterbitkan oleh Yayasan Pendidikan Penelitian Pengabdian Algero yang terbit empat kali dalam setahun yaitu Februari, Mei, Agustus dan November. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal dengan terbitan open access yang langsung pada kontennya berdasarkan prinsip bahwa membuat penelitian tersedia secara bebas untuk umum guna mendukung pertukaran pengetahuan global yang lebih besar. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the responses of UMKM at the Saboak Event regarding the use of Instagram social media, brand awareness, and increased sales, analyze the effect of optimizing the use of Instagram social media on increasing sales in UMKM at the Saboak Event, analyze the effect of brand awareness on increasing product sales in UMKM at the Saboak Event, and analyze the effect of simultaneous optimization of the use of Instagram social media and brand awareness on increasing product sales in UMKM at the Saboak Event. This study uses an explanatory method with a quantitative approach through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies at the Kupang City Tourism Office as the agency that manages the saboak event. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis and enriched with the social impact theory framework and social media marketing theory. The results of the study indicate that optimizing Instagram and brand awareness have a positive and significant impact on increasing product sales. Brand awareness has the most dominant influence compared to optimizing social media. This study also provides recommendations for UMKM participating in the Saboak event to optimize their use of Instagram, particularly in terms of frequency and consistency in uploading content.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan (DIARPUS) of Mataram City implements services as a form of public relations in attracting public interest to utilize the library. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method through direct observation and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that DIARPUS provides various types of services as a public relations strategy, including circulation services, visitation services, e-book services, TP-BIS activities, literacy competitions, interlibrary cooperation, the Saturday–Sunday Reading Park, mobile library services, and the use of social media as a public communication channel. With these various facilities, DIARPUS prioritizes service optimization by providing a mini theater, comfortable reading spaces, and additional computers with adequate internet access. As a result, the services are able to increase public interest in the library and create a positive image that is friendly, safe, and relevant. Services serve as an implementation of public relations that require continuous optimization, and the results of the study show that improving service quality is a key strategy in building the image of the library institution in the eyes of the public.

Abstract

This study analyzes communication patterns among the Bajo and Sikka ethnic groups in Wolomarang Village, Sikka Regency. The focus of this study is the patterns and dynamics of convergence and divergence in communication among the Bajo and Sikka ethnic groups in terms of social adaptation. Ethnographic methods were used because they enable researchers to understand the daily habits and interactions between the Bajo and Sikka ethnic communities that can be observed. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that communication patterns are formed through continuous interactions in various areas of life, such as markets, residential environments, social activities, and religious activities. The patterns that emerge are generally open, adaptive, and accommodating, reflecting harmonious relationships despite cultural differences.  Convergence is evident through adjustments in speech patterns, language use, and social behavior to achieve mutual understanding, especially with the use of Indonesian as a lingua franca in public interactions. Divergence is seen when each ethnic group maintains its own language and distinctive communication characteristics. The Bajo ethnic group uses the Bajo language in internal interactions and exhibits a soft and religious style of speech, while the Sikka ethnic group uses the Sikka language with a firm and expressive communication style. Social adaptation is reflected in functional bilingualism and mixed family practices that combine values, languages, and traditions with mutual respect.
