Abstract

Many techniques have been developed in wastewater treatment process which features a unit that can remove particles or flocs that tend to be difficult to settle, in which using a settling unit is less effective. This research aims to determine the reduction and the effectiveness of flotation units on the fat oil content, TSS, and BOD in the presence of the influence of PAC coagulants and recirculation. The result of this research shows that the best reduction in fat oil, TSS, and BOD content is at a recirculation ratio of 100% with the addition of a coagulant of 15ppm in which the percentage of reduction in fat oil is 75.00%, the percentage reduction in TSS is 81.48%, and the percentage reduction in BOD is 85.33%.

Abstract

The study analyzed the spread of dengue (DHF) susceptibility index based on the incidence rate (IR). This research was conducted in Bombana Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. The study used a quantitative design. The object of analysis is the number of cases, the frequency and the index of vulnerability. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and spatial analysis (ArcView 3.2). DHF cases in Bombana Regency are spread across six sub-districts and 35 villages / wards. Poleang Barat 208 cases, Poleang 111 cases, South Poleang 64 cases, East Poleang 46 cases, Rumbia 24 cases and Middle Rumbia 17 cases. There are 12 villages / kelurahan with the status of “very vulnerable”, 6 which are “vulnerable”, 2 which are “somewhat vulnerable”, 8 which are “somewhat safe” and 7 villages / kelurahan that are “safe”. The average number of DHF cases that occur is around 0.33-0.98% of the total population. It was found that the ages of 0-10 years (48.30%), 11-20 years (28.09%). Infecting men as much as 49.57% and 50.43% women.

Abstract

This study analyzes the distribution of potential areas that have wind power as a source of electrical energy. The study used a qualitative statistical and survey approach. The tools used are GPS, Anemometer, Stopwatch, GIS Application (Software), Computers and writing instruments and a camera. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. Wakatobi Regency has the potential for wind to develop electrical energy, namely 5 points on Wangi-Wangi Island; 5 points on Kaledupa Island; 4 points of Tomia Island; and 4 points on Binongko Island. The wind direction on Binongko Island and Tomia Island blows from the West (W) or 280.090. On the island of Kaledupa blowing from the W (West) or 280.090. Wangi-Wangi Island blows from the NW (Northwest) or 326,030. The average wind speed in the study area shows that the average annual wind speed ranges from 4-5 m/s (minimum standard 2.5 m/s) so that Wakatobi Regency is potential for developing wind power electricity.

Abstract

Wanggu River is the largest river in Kendari City – Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), whose condition is very poor because it is a final place for disposal of household and industrial wastewater. It will be impacted by decreasing water quality and silting sedimentation. In this study, it is important to analyze the water quality of the Wanggu River with several physical and chemical parameters analysis such as the determination of total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), the content of phosphate (PO4), and detergent pollutants which are determined based on location sampling such as upstream, middle, and downstream. Based on these results showed that the TSS and PO4 contents from the upstream, middle, and downstream points had increased in concentration, while the BOD and detergent contents have decreased in the downstream area. However, this condition shows that the Wanggu River is still categorized as Class II within the normal threshold. These results are expected to become a reference for the government and society in improving wastewater management and increasing knowledge in managing river water quality.

Abstract

Water is a vital resource for all living organisms. Water resources must be managed in a sustainable way to protect our environment and its beneficial uses for human life and other organisms. River water is one of the water resources for human life. One of the regions that use river water for water resources is Surabaya. Surabaya rivers are considered as the primary source of water used by the citizens. The water of the Surabaya River is the raw material of drinking water and one of the water supply source for PDAM Surabaya. Furthermore, the Surabaya River has been used not only as a water resource for people and industries but also as a place for industrial waste disposal. The increasing of industrial development has raised concerns about water consumption, so it is necessary to monitor the water quality of the Surabaya River to determine chemical, physical, and biological parameters.

Abstract

The presence of water hyacinth in massive numbers will be a problem for surface water. However, water hyacinth also contains cellulose which can be converted into reducing sugar as an ingredient for making bioethanol. This study aims to determine the yield of reducing sugar in the combined hydrolysis stage with cellulolytic bacteria and its maximum reaction rate. Water hyacinth needs that are used are the substrate at a variation of 0.025; 0.057; 0.100; 0.161 and 0.232% (w / v). Pretreatment segment used Phanerochaete chrysosporium mold and continued chemical hydrolysis with treatment of 0.25% and 2% H2SO4 and hot variations of 100 + 3 oC and the combination using Cellvibrio for 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 hours. The research was carried out at room temperature. The method for measuring reducing sugar using Nelson-Somogyi. Reduction sugar that has been produced in the pretreatment process is a variety of P. chrysosporium fungi, hydrolysis of 0.25% H2SO4 and heating (boiling) 100 + 3oC for 30 minutes and Cellvibrio with the highest yields on water hyacinth substrate 20 g and time 96 hours. The maximum reducing sugar formation rate (Vmax) was 0.762 mg/g/hour and Km was 0.03%.

Abstract

Sanggraloka Sekar Wilis is the name of a tourist area located in the village of Kesugihan, Pulung District, Ponorogo. With a tread location on the slopes of Mount Wilis, with a hilly background, it provides a beautiful natural panorama, supported by various kinds of trees as shade and a source of clean water which is used as a family swimming pool. The existence of several children's play facilities, as well as a campsite, makes this place visited by many local people. Although there is a Pendopo building with the Joglo Panoragan style in this area, the area's image that reflects the Ponorogo art and culture, has not been adequately provided. Cultural attractions, such as the Reog Ponorogo dance performance, are performed in an open space that is still quite wide. This study aims to make efforts to improve the image of the area as cultural tourism, through exploration of architectural elements so as to improve the image of the area by raising vernacular values. This qualitative research uses descriptive analysis methods through field observations and in-depth interviews. The results showed that the use of vernacular architecture in the completion of the building could improve the image of the tourist area, thereby strengthening the Ponorogo cultural identity.

Abstract

Langsur's River is a part of watershed Semin, which crosses the industrial area in Sukoharjo. The growing textile industry in Sukoharjo is 7.22% from 2007 to 2018, which wasn't followed by good textile waste management. There are indications of river water pollution with poor turbidity, color, and odors, besides indication of slightly salty groundwater contamination. The purpose of this study determined the distribution of liquid waste and to analyze the effect of textile industrial wastewater on the quality of river water and groundwater. The data collecting method uses survey, mapping, and laboratory tests, while sampling method uses purposive sampling. The analysis method uses Pollution Index. The spreading of textile wastewater in the river follows the river flow and strongly influences water quality to light to moderate pollution. Spreading wastewater in groundwater follows the groundwater flow but doesn't strongly influence groundwater which light polluted. The level of river water and groundwater pollution becomes information for effective and efficient water management directions.
