Abstract

This study investigates the impact of self-talk training on the self-confidence of karate athletes from INKAI Sumbawa Barat during kumite competitions at the 2025 Bupati Cup IV in Lombok Tengah, Indonesia. Self-talk—defined as internal verbalization aimed at enhancing psychological resilience—has been recognized in sports psychology as a technique to regulate anxiety, boost focus, and foster motivational drive. Employing a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design, the research involved 20 karate athletes who participated in a structured self-talk intervention across 12 sessions. Data on self-confidence levels were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed through statistical methods including normality testing, homogeneity testing, and paired-sample t-tests. Results revealed a statistically significant increase in athletes’ self-confidence following the self-talk intervention (p<0.001), confirming the effectiveness of this mental strategy in high-pressure competitive settings. The findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of psychological skills training in sports and offer practical recommendations for coaches and athletes seeking to enhance mental preparedness and performance in kumite.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Boomerang Run and Lateral Run training on improving the agility of 13-year-old football athletes at Narmada Football Academy (NFA). Agility is a crucial component in modern football, enabling players to quickly change direction, maintain balance, and support both offensive and defensive skills. The research method used is an experimental design with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 16 NFA athletes divided into two treatment groups. The Illinois Agility Run test was used as an instrument to measure agility before and after the training intervention. Results from the paired sample t-test showed a significant improvement in both groups. The Boomerang Run training reduced the average agility time from 25.60 seconds to 23.35 seconds, while the Lateral Run training reduced the average from 23.35 seconds to 22.46 seconds. The findings indicate that both training methods significantly enhance agility, with a notable difference in effectiveness between the two. This research provides valuable insights into agility training strategies for youth football players

Abstract

The aim of this study is to increase passing accuracy by using the Killer Pass (X1) and Pass Combination X2 exercises on athletes aged 10-13 years at Club PS Tulen East Lombok in 2023.The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental "One groups pretest-posttest design" without a control group with the passing accuracy test instrument and using a purposive sampling technique in sampling. The sample used was 22 athletes aged 10-13 years at the East Lombok PS Tulen Club in 2023. Data analysis in this study used statistical data analysis using the t-test formula. Group A as the experimental group was given a killer pass exercise and group B was given a combination of pass exercises. This training program lasts for 5 weeks with 3 exercises in one week. The results of the t-count test for Killer Pass (X1) to Passing Accuracy (Y) are 4.52 and Pass Combination (X2) is 7.98 to Y while the t-table value is 2.22 with a Sig value of 0.05, these results indicate that there is a significant difference so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected and the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. The conclusion based on the results of the study shows that there is a significant effect of the Killer Pass and Pass Combination exercises on the passing accuracy (Passing Accuracy) of SSB Club PS Tulen East Lombok football players in 2023.

Abstract

Focus on problems based on observations during the South Sea Boys training in West Sumbawa Regency, especially the age group of 10-13 years. Many players still dribble the ball using their toes and the distance between their feet and the distance with the ball is too far, so it is easy for opponents to grab. Students are weak in ball possession so that the ball is easily seized by opponents. In dribbling, players still look stiff. There are some players who have speed in running, but when dribbling at high speed, the player is difficult to turn and the ball is too far out of reach. When in possession of the ball, some students tend to control the ball and then dribbling without paying attention to the surrounding area. South Sea Boys players of West Sumbawa Regency, especially the age group of 10 -13 years when running, players have high speed but cannot pass the opponent and the ball is easily grabbed. From the above facts that the dribbling ability must be improved so that the dribbling ability of the players becomes better. Thus, the main problem is the dribbling ability of the South Sea Boys players, West Sumbawa Regency, especially the age group of 10-13 years which is still low. The design used in this study is a type of quantitative research using experimental methods. Experimentation can be interpreted as a research method used to look for the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. In experimental research there is a treatment (treatment). The sampling technique uses the cumentation method and the deed test method using the help of the IBM SPSS Version 23 program

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of kebaya-wearing female figures in Taring Padi's graphic art using Roland Barthes' semiotic framework. The primary focus is the ideological gender ambiguity arising from the utilization of traditional kebaya symbols within progressive post-Reformasi 1998 resistance narratives. The methodological approach employs qualitative descriptive analysis with two-stage semiotics (denotation and connotation) and myth formation mechanisms. Primary data is sourced from the publication Taring Padi: Seni Membongkar Tirani (2011), with the main sample being the poster titled "Berikan Hak Suara Kami Sebagai Perempuan" ("Give Us Our Voting Rights as Women"). Research findings identify three central myths in the construction of the kebaya female figure: "People's Honesty," "Stomach Politics," and "Militant Mother." The study reveals ideological duality; kebaya is operationalized as a symbol of political agency and popular sovereignty, yet simultaneously perpetuates the historical legacy of "State Maternalism" that sustains women's domestication. The analysis affirms that Taring Padi's graphic art serves as a disruptive medium against ruling narratives while functioning as an arena for contesting gender identity meanings in Indonesia.
