Abstract

This study investigates the impact of self-talk training on the self-confidence of karate athletes from INKAI Sumbawa Barat during kumite competitions at the 2025 Bupati Cup IV in Lombok Tengah, Indonesia. Self-talk—defined as internal verbalization aimed at enhancing psychological resilience—has been recognized in sports psychology as a technique to regulate anxiety, boost focus, and foster motivational drive. Employing a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design, the research involved 20 karate athletes who participated in a structured self-talk intervention across 12 sessions. Data on self-confidence levels were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed through statistical methods including normality testing, homogeneity testing, and paired-sample t-tests. Results revealed a statistically significant increase in athletes’ self-confidence following the self-talk intervention (p<0.001), confirming the effectiveness of this mental strategy in high-pressure competitive settings. The findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of psychological skills training in sports and offer practical recommendations for coaches and athletes seeking to enhance mental preparedness and performance in kumite.

Abstract

Focus on problems based on observations during the South Sea Boys training in West Sumbawa Regency, especially the age group of 10-13 years. Many players still dribble the ball using their toes and the distance between their feet and the distance with the ball is too far, so it is easy for opponents to grab. Students are weak in ball possession so that the ball is easily seized by opponents. In dribbling, players still look stiff. There are some players who have speed in running, but when dribbling at high speed, the player is difficult to turn and the ball is too far out of reach. When in possession of the ball, some students tend to control the ball and then dribbling without paying attention to the surrounding area. South Sea Boys players of West Sumbawa Regency, especially the age group of 10 -13 years when running, players have high speed but cannot pass the opponent and the ball is easily grabbed. From the above facts that the dribbling ability must be improved so that the dribbling ability of the players becomes better. Thus, the main problem is the dribbling ability of the South Sea Boys players, West Sumbawa Regency, especially the age group of 10-13 years which is still low. The design used in this study is a type of quantitative research using experimental methods. Experimentation can be interpreted as a research method used to look for the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. In experimental research there is a treatment (treatment). The sampling technique uses the cumentation method and the deed test method using the help of the IBM SPSS Version 23 program.

Abstract

Antibiotic resistance is one of the major health problems faced by many countries around the world. Due to the urgency of antibiotic resistance, efforts to identify new lead compounds from novel sources and analyses to determine their bioactivity are highly needed for antibiotic development. One of the invertebrate organisms studied for its potential to produce secondary metabolites with antibacterial properties is the class Gastropoda within the phylum Mollusca. Gastropods consist of more than 80 thousand species and differ from other classes in the phylum Mollusca due to their torsioned body. Gastropods have three subclasses, namely Prosobranchia, Opisthobranchia, and Pulmonata. One of the terrestrial gastropod species is snails, which include those with shells (snails) and shell-less snails (slugs), belonging to the subclass Pulmonata. Mucus from snails is utilized as traditional medicine and as an innovative natural product to treat various health problems. Since Gastropoda includes a large number of species distributed across various ecosystems, but research on the antibacterial potential of their secondary metabolites is still limited, this review aims to summarize studies exploring the antibacterial effects of secondary metabolites in the mucus produced by terrestrial gastropod species, particularly various species of terrestrial shelled snails (terrestrial snails). The preparation of this review article uses a literature study method with a systematic approach. The articles used are international articles discussing the antibacterial activity of secondary metabolites in the mucus produced by terrestrial shelled snails (snails). Articles were obtained from the PubMed database using the keywords snails AND antibacterial from the period 2000 to 2023; the period before 2000 was excluded due to the very limited number of articles. The results obtained from the journal review indicate the presence of bioactive components such as peptides, glycopeptides, and other secondary metabolites found in the mucus of several terrestrial snail species. These bioactive components exhibit antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Abstract

lope stability in open-pit mining is a critical aspect influenced by the geotechnical conditions of slope-forming materials, particularly the presence of a degradation zone. This study aims to determine the depth of the degradation zone or Fully Disturbed Limit (FDL) and to analyze its role in the stability of the highwall slope at Pit North, PT Karya Putra Borneo. The research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data, including slope geometry and geotechnical parameters, combined with slope modeling using Slide 6.0 software. The depth of the degradation zone is determined based on a disturbance factor (D) value of 0.7, representing mechanical excavation methods. The results indicate that the degradation zone extends to a depth of approximately 3.9 meters from the slope surface, forming a relatively weaker layer compared to the underlying material. This zone has the potential to act as a weak plane that controls slope failure mechanisms. Therefore, the depth and position of the degradation zone are key factors that must be considered in slope stability analysis to support safer and more effective slope design in open-pit mining.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students’ ability in using English prepositions and to identify the problems they face. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through a grammar test. The sample consisted of 37 first-semester students of the English Language Education Study Program in the academic year 2025/2026. The data were analyzed by classifying students’ scores, where scores of 66–100 were categorized as able and scores of 0–65 as unable. The results showed that 20 students (52%) were categorized as able, while 17 students (47%) were categorized as unable. In addition, most errors were found in the use of prepositions such as in, on, and at due to their similar meanings and multiple functions. Therefore, it can be concluded that students’ ability in using English prepositions still needs improvement.

Abstract

Airports are critical facilities that require a reliable electrical power supply system to ensure safety and continuity of flight operations. The construction of a new terminal at Sultan Bantilan Tolitoli Airport has significantly increased electrical load demand; however, this development was not accompanied by an increase in secondary power supply capacity. This condition potentially reduces the reliability of the electrical system, particularly during disturbances in the main power source. This study aims to analyze the existing electrical power supply system, evaluate the adequacy of power capacity relative to current load demands, and design a more reliable power distribution system. The research employs a descriptive–explanatory method with a case study approach. The research stages include electrical load data collection, analysis of primary and secondary power supply capacity, separation of essential and non-essential loads, and system modeling and simulation using ETAP software. The results indicate that the existing secondary power supply or generator set capacity are insufficient to support the airport’s total electrical load after terminal expansion. Redesigning the distribution system by prioritizing essential loads and optimizing generator operation improves the reliability of power supply to critical loads. ETAP simulation results show that the proposed system meets acceptable technical limits for power flow and voltage profiles. Therefore, the proposed power supply system design is considered feasible to enhance the reliability and continuity of electrical power supply at Sultan Bantilan Tolitoli Airport
