Abstract

The Wadaslintang Dam is located in Sumberejo Village, Wadaslintang District, Wonosobo Regency, and borders Padureso District, Kebumen Regency, Central Java Province, along the Bedegolan River within the Serayu–Bogowonto River Basin. Known for its stunning natural beauty, the reservoir holds significant potential as an attractive tourist destination. The vision of this community engagement program is to develop Wadaslintang Reservoir into a leading tourism site that is community-managed, sustainable, and capable of empowering the local population. The program employed methods of socialization and mentoring, supported by a series of initiatives that actively involved the community, including awareness-raising through reflective discussions, the establishment of reservoir enthusiast groups, participatory mapping, and long-term participatory planning. The activities enhanced community understanding of their vital role in reservoir management, as shown by evaluation results, where the average pre-test score of 63.33 increased to 85.33 out of 100 in the post-test following the socialization activities. This improvement highlights the effectiveness of participatory approaches and two-way communication in fostering community awareness and engagement.

Abstract

Food security is a critical issue of global and national concern. The Nutritious Food Yard Program (P2B) was introduced as a solution to enhance food security at the household level through community empowerment. According to the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES), Temanggung Regency is categorised as an area with a relatively high level of food insecurity. This community service program aims to analyse and describe the implementation process and the impact of empowerment initiatives for the Dewi Sintha II Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Ngropoh Village by applying the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach. Over three months, various yard-based training activities were conducted, including the production of husk charcoal, liquid organic fertiliser (POC), KOHE fertiliser, seed germination, polybag cultivation, aquaponics (BUDIKDAMBER), food processing, and product marketing. The results of pre-test and post-test assessments showed a significant improvement in members’ knowledge and skills. High levels of enthusiasm and active participation reflected the effectiveness of the PRA approach in fostering awareness and household food independence.

Abstract

Child marriage remains a concerning phenomenon in Indonesia, including in Lebak Regency, with serious implications for adolescents' health, education, and socioeconomic conditions, particularly for girls. Multifaceted causes, including low educational attainment, poor family economic conditions, social and cultural pressures, and limited legal awareness, drive this practice. Similar situations are also found among students, including those at SMAN 1 Sajira. In response, the Student Community Service Program (KKM) Group 63 conducted a community engagement activity in the form of a socialization program on preventing child marriage, under the theme "Prevent Early Marriage, Create a Bright Future through Education." The activity involved speakers from legal and educational perspectives and was conducted interactively through presentations and discussions. The results indicated an increase in students' knowledge and awareness of the risks of child marriage, the importance of continuing education, and the understanding of applicable legal protections. This program is expected not only to benefit students of SMAN 1 Sajira but also to serve as an educational model that can be replicated in other schools to support efforts to prevent child marriage in Lebak Regency and beyond.

Abstract

Training on implementing science books using a Case-Based Learning (CBL) approach was conducted to enhance students' critical thinking skills. This training was motivated by the need for innovative teaching materials that are not only theoretical but also able to present real-world contexts in science learning. The training was carried out in several stages: an introduction to the concept of CBL, guidance on using case-based science books, and direct practice during the learning process. The participants were students of the Elementary School Teacher Education study program in the Basic Concepts of Science course. The instruments used included a response questionnaire, observations of the training implementation, and a test. The results showed that implementing science books with a CBL approach had a positive impact, as evidenced by improvements in students' ability to identify problems, analyse information, and draw logical conclusions from real cases. In addition, students' responses to the training were also very positive, with evaluations indicating that CBL-based science books are practical and engaging. The posttest results showed an improvement in students' critical thinking, with an average score of 82. Thus, training in implementing CBL-based science books proved effective in equipping students for science learning.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity was motivated by the limited availability of innovative learning media for visually impaired students, who generally rely only on audio or braille. The purpose of this program is to develop and implement multisensory learning media based on View Scan, Auris, and Mechano Receptor to enhance the cognitive functions of visually impaired students at SLB Negeri Lamongan. The novelty lies in integrating visual, auditory, and tactile technologies into a structured learning system, thereby improving accessibility and learning effectiveness. The method used was a quantitative, experimental design approach. The subjects were visually impaired students, with data collected through observation, pre- and post-cognitive tests, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially. The results showed a positive response: View Scan supported object identification, Auris reinforced verbal comprehension, and the Mechano Receptor improved spatial perception. Students’ participation, concentration, and memory increased significantly, with an effectiveness rate of 81.01%. In conclusion, this PkM successfully enhanced the cognitive functions of visually impaired students.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in producing a generation that is not only outstanding in religious aspects but also economically independent. However, many Islamic boarding schools still face limitations in optimally managing their economic potential. Therefore, this activity aims to enhance students' capabilities in entrepreneurship and business management. This initiative is designed as a training programme focused on creative and digital economy-based entrepreneurship, business management, and the optimisation of pesantren resources. The methods employed include theoretical training, hands-on practice, and ongoing mentoring to enable students to develop and manage businesses independently. This training creates a sustainable business ecosystem within the boarding school, enhances students' entrepreneurial skills, and increases the number of productive business units that can serve as income sources for the boarding school. Through this training, positive impacts are generated, including the enhancement of students' entrepreneurial knowledge and the management of Darul Fikri Islamic Boarding School, enabling the school to become a model of an economically independent boarding school and to contribute positively to the surrounding community.

Abstract

Public transportation in Tuban Regency, known as Bus Si Mas Ganteng, officially operates on the Bojonegoro–Tuban route and has attracted strong enthusiasm from the community, particularly children and mothers. The bus service is free of charge and features clean facilities, air conditioning, a distinctive design, and a focus on passenger comfort and safety. These conditions provide a strategic opportunity to implement basic literacy training during travel. The purpose of this community engagement program is to foster passengers’ reading interest through interactive literacy approaches in public transportation. The methods employed include structured training, 30-minute reading practice sessions, and activities designed to promote reading with enjoyment. The results show that the literacy training successfully engaged 10 child passengers and three adult passengers. Participants demonstrated an understanding of the importance of literacy and expressed a commitment to applying it in daily life. Passengers were encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes, participate in discussions, and receive guidance from lecturers and students. In addition, the team contributed 20 books as a collection for Bus Si Mas Ganteng. This activity demonstrates that public transportation can serve as an educational space to foster a literacy culture and encourage communities to develop sustainable reading habits.
