Abstract

The Sugar Factory uses more than 150 pieces of equipment in production process. With so many tools, the possibility of accidents also very large, especially because of the age of mechine and equipment. On July 22 2022, an accident occurred which resulted 1 (one) person dying as a result of being hit by a lifting beam and sugarcane scale due to a broken wire rope. Investigation and analysis of the causes of accidents as well as follow-up actions must be carried out, because the production process must continue. This research aims to analyze accidents that occur based on human factors using Government Regulation and Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) approach. Government regulations are used to identify the types of accidents with a major impact on lost work hours and fatalities. Government regulations are used to determine the types of accidents that have a major impact on lost work hours and deaths. Using data from sugar factories and interview results, this study shows that accidents with the greatest impact are caused by lifting equipment. Using the Human Factor And Classification System (HFACS) method to analyze the 6 accidents, the results show that at level 1, the biggest causes of accidents are at the sub-level decision error, skill-based error, perceptual error and routine violation. At level 2, the biggest causes of accidents are at the sub-level technological environment and personal readiness. While at levels 3 and 4, Failed to correct problem and supervisory violation have the largest percentage at level 3 and resource management at level 4. The conclusion shows that there are still various problems from the human factor to implementate occupational safety which could potentially lead to accidents.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever ranked among the top 10 diseases with 193 cases in the Inpatient Hospital of Haji Hospital, Makassar City in 2018. The WHO's Dengue Virus Infection (IVD) classification with 7 Warning Signs helps identify severe IVD risks in both pediatric and adult patients. A retrospective cohort study analyzed 132 medical records of pediatric patients aged 4 months to 18 years using Purposive Sampling. Most IVD patients were aged 5-18 years (72.8%), male (56.1%), had good nutritional status (69.7%), and experienced fever for <4 days before treatment (58.3%). Significant risk factors for IVD with Warning Signs included gender (p-value 0.029) and nutritional status (p-value 0.025), while age (p-value 0.914) and duration of fever (p-value 0.323) were not significant. Gender and nutritional status are significant risk factors for IVD with Warning Signs.

Abstract

Anemia poses a growing health concern within the community, particularly among pregnant women who require special attention due to increased nutritional needs for fetal development. The aim of this research is to identify the factors associated with anemia among pregnant women at the Kotaraja Health Center. This type of research is analytical observation with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 156 individuals selected from a population of 202. The study utilized simple random sampling as The sampling technique. The results indicated a significant association between age and anemia in pregnant women P-value (0.035), nutritional status P-value (0.004), the ANC frequency P-value (0.009), and infection diseases P-value (0.035). However, the parity variable showed no significant association with anemia in pregnant women, as indicated by a p-value (0.097). In conclusion, age, nutritional status, frequency of ANC visits, and infection diseases all have a significant association with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

Otitis externa is an inflammation of the ear canal that can extend to the outer ear or tympanic membrane, commonly caused by bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Warm, humid environments and risk factors such as age, gender, body weight, physical activity, and environmental conditions contribute to its development. Symptoms include ear pain, discharge, itching, and occasionally hearing loss. This Narrative Review analyzed 10 articles from 2020 to 2024 to identify characteristic risk factors of otitis externa. Findings reveal that the condition predominantly affects late adolescents and individuals aged 17-40 years. The review concludes that otitis externa can occur in any age group or gender, with certain occupations, like those involving art materials, showing higher incidence rates, and diffuse otitis externa primarily impacting productive age patients.
