Abstract

Tarutung City, as the center of government and commerce in North Tapanuli Regency, faces environmental sanitation issues that contribute to the increase in mosquito populations. This study aims to analyze the condition of environmental sanitation and mosquito control efforts in Tarutung City. A descriptive-analytical approach was used to assess environmental cleanliness, the availability of sanitation facilities, and vector control programs implemented by the local government. The results of the study indicate that environmental sanitation in some areas remains inadequate, with many water storage sites found to be breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, the primary cause of dengue fever. Control efforts, such as fogging and the elimination of mosquito breeding sites (PSN), have not been optimal due to the lack of community participation and awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness. This study recommends enhancing public education programs, improving waste management, and conducting regular monitoring of high-risk areas to reduce mosquito populations and prevent disease spread. Strengthening cooperation between the government and the community is crucial to achieving a healthier environment free from mosquito threats

Abstract

Panglong Village, Berakit Subdistrict, Bintan Regency, possesses significant potential for development within the sustainable tourism sector. This study aims to investigate the marine and cultural potentials of the Sampan ethnic community in supporting sustainable tourism development in Panglong Village. The analysis employs a qualitative descriptive approach, guided by the 4A framework, encompassing Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities, and Ancillary Services. The findings indicate that Panglong Village offers compelling tourism attractions from both marine and cultural perspectives; however, its management remains limited and has yet to be optimally implemented. The marine potential is closely linked to the mangrove ecosystems, which can be leveraged as attractions through mangrove tourism tours, traditional fishing activities, and the rich cultural heritage of the Sampan community. Achieving sustainable development in this context necessitates effective collaboration among local communities, academics, government authorities, and industry stakeholders to safeguard natural and cultural resources. Furthermore, to realize this potential fully, improvements in accessibility, tourism facilities, and supporting services are essential to ensure sustainable tourism that prioritizes visitor safety and comfort.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to conduct bathymetric mapping and morphometric analysis to evaluate the physical condition of Perintis Lake, Bone Bolango. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing survey methods and field observations. Bathymetric mapping was performed using the Underwater Meter Gauge method, with data interpolation analyzed through the Spline with Barriers method in ArcMap. Lake morphometry was assessed by calculating surface and subsurface dimensions based on bathymetric data. The results of the bathymetric and morphometric analyses reveal that Perintis Lake is a shallow water body (average depth of 1.88 m) with complex morphological characteristics. A Shoreline Development Index (SDI) of 1.84 indicates an irregular lake shape with diverse littoral habitats, while an aspect ratio of 4.02 reflects a suboptimal unidirectional water circulation pattern. Morphometric characteristics, such as a Volume Development Value of 1.61 and a Zmax/Zmean ratio of 1.87, suggest high susceptibility to sedimentation, unstable thermal stratification, and organic sediment accumulation. The study highlights the need for an ecologically zoned management approach, including sediment input control, littoral zone conservation, and periodic bathymetric monitoring to ensure the sustainability of Perintis Lake's ecosystem.

Abstract

Indonesia has a rich variety of traditional regional rice dishes that represent the nation’s culinary and gastronomic heritage. However, these dishes typically have a short shelf life, limiting their availability to local consumption only. One potential solution to address this issue is the development of instant rice. Various studies have explored the production of instant rice, highlighting its potential as a medium to preserve and promote traditional rice-based dishes. This study aims to systematically review the methods used in the production of instant rice and its potential in enhancing the value of Indonesian gastronomic heritage. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA protocol across multiple databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and MDPI. A total of 19 scientific articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed using the Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Study Design (PICOS) framework. The review revealed that the production process of instant rice generally involves soaking in a citric acid solution, washing, cooking, cooling, freezing, thawing, and drying using various techniques. Drying methods include cabinet drying, fluidized bed drying, freeze drying, and microwave drying, each with different temperature and time settings depending on the rice type and target moisture content. The development of instant rice based on traditional recipes—packaged in a modern and practical format without compromising authentic flavors—holds strong potential to promote Indonesian gastronomy and enhance its competitiveness in the global culinary tourism market.

Abstract

Innovation in low-calorie culinary products holds great potential to enrich offerings for tourists in the hospitality and tourism sectors, addressing the growing demand for healthier food options. This study aims to determine the differences in organoleptic characteristics of nastar made with sago flour and stevia as a natural sweetener. The experimental method was applied using two formulation samples: X (80% sago flour, 20% wheat flour, 0.009% stevia extract) and Y (100% sago flour, 0.009% stevia extract). Organoleptic tests were conducted with 15 untrained panelists using a hedonic scale to evaluate color, aroma, taste, and texture attributes. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed no significant differences (p > 0.05) between the two samples across all attributes. The average organoleptic scores fell within the “liked” category, with the highest scores found in sample Y for color and aroma. The use of 100% sago flour and stevia still produced nastar that was well-liked by panelists, without compromising sensory quality. This innovation presents a promising alternative for healthier local-based cookies and can be developed as an attractive product in the healthy culinary tourism sector.

Abstract

Sukoharjo Regency holds considerable potential to be developed as a jamu-based tourism destination by utilizing its cultural heritage and the community's expertise in traditional herbal medicine. This study finds that the integration of cultural preservation, product innovation, and digital promotion is crucial in strengthening the identity of Sukoharjo as the "City of Jamu." The existence of the Jamu Tourism Village, especially in Nguter Village, has provided a foundation that can be expanded through collaborative efforts among stakeholders. Based on these findings, several practical recommendations can be made. First, the local government needs to formulate supportive policies and provide incentives for jamu MSMEs to synergize with the tourism sector. Second, jamu tourism managers, such as those in Nguter Village, are advised to adopt integrated digital promotion models and offer jamu products as part of bundled wellness tourism services. Additionally, capacity-building programs for the community are necessary to improve service quality and ensure sustainable tourism management. Future research directions may include further studies on tourist perceptions of jamu tourism and its attraction elements, as well as quantitative studies to measure the economic impact of jamu tourism development on local businesses. Ethnographic research is also important to document the still-living traditional practices of jamu in the community, ensuring that cultural knowledge is preserved and passed down to future generations.
