Abstract

This study investigates the impact of human resource capacity on the development of Tipang Tourism Village in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, Indonesia. Despite its outstanding natural and cultural potential—recognized nationally as a leading tourism village—Tipang still faces challenges in achieving sustainable development, particularly due to limited skills, knowledge, and community awareness. Strengthening human resource capacity is therefore essential to fostering professional, creative, and sustainable tourism management. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study gathered data through questionnaires, interviews, direct observations, and literature review. The sample comprised local residents and tourists selected representatively. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and simple regression via SPSS. Results show a significant influence of human resource capacity on tourism development, supported by an F-value of 11.636 (greater than the F-table value of 3.18) and a t-value of 3.411 (greater than the t-table value of 1.677). The R² value of 19.5% suggests a moderate contribution, highlighting the importance of community competence in advancing sustainable tourism. The study recommends enhanced tourism-related training and education for local communities and encourages further research incorporating additional variables for broader insights.

Abstract

Glamping has emerged as a unique accommodation option that offers an exceptional experience in natural environments, attracting particular attention, especially post-pandemic. Its distinction from traditional camping, along with the luxurious facilities it offers, makes glamping an attractive choice for tourists. As part of nature-based tourism, glamping needs to be examined from both sustainability and business perspectives. This paper presents a literature review using a systematic literature review approach. Empirical articles discussing nature-based tourism, specifically glamping, published between 2013 and 2023 were sourced from the reputable ScienceDirect journal portal, yielding 77 articles. These articles were narrowed down to 17 English-language articles that focus on nature-based tourism and glamping as their main topics. This literature review aims to identify research findings related to glamping and its connection to nature-based tourism that have been previously conducted. The study finds several pieces of research indicating that glamping has had a significant impact on tourism post-pandemic and contributes to individual and group development. Other findings discuss how managers are encouraged to actively manage glamping accommodations according to ecological principles while competing in the market by offering facilities that enhance visitor satisfaction and attract investor attention. Recommendations for future research directions include conducting studies that analyze and identify visitor expectations, perceptions, and recommendations through glamping experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation and potential of digital-based tourism management at the Minang Rua Beach tourist destination in South Lampung. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving tourism managers, local government, tourism business actors, and visitors. The findings reveal that digital tourism management at Minang Rua Beach is still limited to social media promotion, which is not yet professionally organized. Digital infrastructure, such as internet connectivity, online booking systems, and digital information services, remains underdeveloped. Key challenges include low digital literacy among managers, limited technological resources, and a lack of synergy among stakeholders. Nevertheless, there is great potential to develop digital-based tourism management due to the increasing reliance of tourists on digital information, the emergence of youth-driven digital initiatives, and supportive policies from the central government. This study recommends the development of digital infrastructure, human resource training, and cross-sector collaboration to establish an innovative, efficient, and sustainable tourism management system. The digitalization of tourism management is expected to enhance destination competitiveness and provide a more adaptive visitor experience in the digital era

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the product image of the Dapoer Bolodewo MSME, which operates in the culinary sector, specifically in packaged breakfast menus. The main problems faced include the absence of a strong brand identity, limited promotional media, and suboptimal hygiene standards in the production process. To address these challenges, a branding strategy was implemented through several stages: creating a logo and product labels, developing visual promotional media such as banners and signboards, utilizing Instagram to expand marketing reach, and providing aprons to business owners to support hygiene and professionalism. The entire activity was carried out using a participatory approach, where the service team worked closely with the MSME throughout the implementation process. The results of the program showed a significant improvement in brand recognition, consumer interest, and product sales. An integrated branding strategy-both visual and digital-proved effective in enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs in a highly competitive local market. Moreover, the program demonstrated that collaboration between academic teams and entrepreneurs through active mentoring can effectively foster sustainable MSME growth. This empowerment model may serve as a reference and be replicated for other MSMEs facing similar challenges in developing a more professional and competitive business image.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of green tourism at Telaga Saat using a qualitative approach, involving in-depth interviews with five key informants (management, government, academics, Perhutani, and media). The findings reveal that the main strengths of the destination are its unique ecological features and strong community involvement, while limitations in facilities and human resource capacity remain critical weaknesses. Opportunities are identified in the support of the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and the potential for university collaboration, whereas threats include overtourism and climate change. The TOWS matrix produces four core strategies: (1) a local product-based water conservation education package (SO), (2) eco-friendly infrastructure improvements supported by CSR (WO), (3) dynamic carrying capacity management using real-time sensors (ST), and (4) a circular waste management ecosystem (WT). Strategy implementation is prioritized for 2025–2029, with key indicators including a 40% reduction in plastic waste, ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Standard certification, and the planting of 10,000 endemic trees. The study highlights that multi-stakeholder collaboration is essential for sustaining green destinations in ecologically sensitive areas.

Abstract

Bali continues to diversify its tourism offerings, glamping—glamorous camping that blends nature with modern comfort—has emerged as a favored choice among women solo travelers. This study investigates the satisfaction levels of women traveling alone who participated in glamping experiences in Candi Kuning Village, Tabanan, Bali. Using a mixed-method approach, data were gathered through questionnaires from 30 respondents and in-depth interviews with 10 participants. Quantitative analysis was conducted using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), while qualitative insights were explored through thematic analysis. The CSI score of 83.5% places traveler satisfaction in the “very satisfied” category. IPA results highlighted that the most valued aspects were interpersonal interactions, cultural storytelling, and the perceived safety and empathy of service providers. Conversely, operational elements such as food service procedures and pricing transparency were deemed less critical. Notably, environmental cleanliness—while highly rated—was considered excessive by some travelers who preferred deeper cultural authenticity. This study concludes that women solo travelers seek personalized, emotionally engaging, and culturally immersive experiences over standardized service components. Recommendations are offered to optimize glamping tourism packages through flexible, co-created, and transformative experiences that align with the evolving preferences of this demographic.

Abstract

Vocational education, such as Vocational High Schools (SMK), faces challenges such as limited facilities and low digital literacy, particularly in developing technology-based competencies for the digital tourism sector. This study aims to determine the extent to which Internet of Things (IoT) training can increase vocational high school students' interest and motivation in developing competencies related to digital tourism innovation. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through semi-structured interviews with vocational high school students directly involved in training activities. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were chosen to delve deeper into students' perceptions and experiences regarding their understanding and interest in the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the tourism industry. This research instrument used semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), observation, and documentation. The results show that case study-based training helps students understand the application of IoT in a concrete manner that is relevant to their majors. Students showed increased enthusiasm, curiosity, and analytical skills in linking IoT to business innovation opportunities in the tourism sector. The conclusion of this study is that IoT training can be a strategy in preparing a skilled and adaptive workforce in the digital era.
