Journal in Islamic Studies published by the Institute for Student Studies and Empowerment IAIN Purwokerto. Subjects include textual study and fieldwork with various perspectives on law, philosophy, mysticism, history, art, theology, and more. Initially, the journal only functioned as a print and electronic journal media that accommodated and published research results from theses/final assignments and/or part of theses/final assignments for students of IAIN Purwokerto S.1 and S.2, from multidisciplinary sciences. However, due to later developments with a wider audience, the journal has managed to invite scholars and researchers outside the Institute to contribute. Thus, Indonesian and non-Indonesian scholars have enriched studies published in journals. Although from the start Raushan Fikr did not present highly qualified scientific articles, the improvement — in terms of format, style, and academic quality — never stopped. Now with articles written in Indonesian, Arabic and English and with fair peer-review procedures, Raushan Fikr continues to publish research and studies related to Islamic studies with various dimensions and approaches. Raushan Fikr, published twice a year (1 volume and 2 numbers) in January and July, has always placed Islam and Muslims in the main focus of academic inquiry and invited comprehensive observations on Islam as a theological belief and system of society and Muslims as those who practice religion with many sides. This journal, serving as a forum for Islamic studies in Indonesia and other parts of the world in a local and challenging global context, supports theme-focused studies and interdisciplinary studies. Raushan Fikr has become a medium for diffusion and exchange of ideas and research findings, in such a way that researchers, writers and readers from various learning traditions have interacted in a scientific way.

Abstract

This study employs an Islamic economic perspective to investigate the impact of macroeconomic factors on the Balance of Payments (BOP) in ASEAN-6 countries, incorporating the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) as a moderating variable. Utilizing panel data regression and moderated regression analysis (MRA), panel data regression is carried out in two stages, namely in the first stage determining the estimation model, it must be known first which model is the best between CEM, FEM and REM. The second stage is the selection of the estimation model starting from the Chow test, Hausman test and Lagrange Multiplier (LM) test. the study examines data from Transparency International (TI) and the World Bank. A total of 168 samples from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam were analyzed. The results indicate that while tourism, inflation, and exchange rates do not significantly affect the BOP, both portfolio investment and net exports have a substantial positive impact. Additionally, the CPI is found to be a significant moderating variable. The study’s findings suggest several strategies for managing volatile global economic conditions, highlighting the importance of focusing on variables that positively influence the BOP. These insights can guide the ASEAN-6 governments in maintaining or enhancing factors that contribute to a stable BOP, ensuring economic resilience in the region

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the role of parents in meeting their children’s basic needs, especially when children lack parental care, guidance, and affection. This study uses empirical legal research methodology from a sociological perspective. Apart from that, the author used an analytical and descriptive research approach in conducting this research. Sources were also obtained from interviews conducted directly with children who experienced a lack of satisfaction with their living resources, perhaps due to the living conditions that were not in Tanjung Gusta Prison. Secondary data refers to information obtained by searching for and collecting items relevant to the research subject, such as journals, papers, books, and the Internet. The findings of this research determine that parental involvement in raising children is very important, especially in shaping the child’s internal well-being. This applies even when the child is an orphan and also takes into account the maqasid syariah perspective on the treatment of children. Children experience expenses related to school and basic needs during the learning process. Therefore, parents are responsible for providing financial support to their children. According to Law No. 23 of 2002, a child is defined as an individual under 18 years of age, including newborn babies

Abstract

Wasathiyyah in Islam is a concept of moderation that emphasizes justice, balance and tolerance, as reflected in the Qur’an and hadith. However, these values are often misunderstood and misused. This article highlights the role of the Ulama of Binjai City in instilling Islamic moderation values in society. The focus of this research is the view of the Ulama of Binjai City on the relationship between Islam and other religions, according to the teachings of the Qur’an and the interpretation of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Binjai City. This research uses the Living Qur’an method, which combines textual analysis with real-life contexts to understand the views and attitudes of the ulama towards followers of other religions. The results show that the Qur’an teaches the importance of justice and tolerance in interfaith relations, which the Binjai City Ulema interpret as an obligation to respect the beliefs of others while maintaining their own. These clerics gained their understanding of moderation from their teachers and primary sources. The findings indicate that the internalization of Islamic moderation values by the Ulama of Binjai City contributes to interfaith harmony in society

Abstract

Indonesia’s diverse landscape presents challenges in creating a multicultural education system. This study explores how Islamic teachings from the Qur’an and Sunnah can enhance multicultural education in Indonesia. Using library research, the study analyzes literature for qualitative data. A descriptive-analytical approach is applied to understand the theological foundations, sourcing data from books, sacred texts, and journals. Key principles identified include equality (al-musawah), justice (al-’adl), compassion (al-rahmah), and tolerance (al-tasamuh). Verses like QS. Al-Hujurat: 13 emphasize human equality, QS. An-Nahl: 90 highlights justice and kindness, QS. Ali-Imran: 159 advocates gentleness and forgiveness, and QS. Al-Kafirun: 1-6 promotes respect for religious differences. The Prophet’s practices in Medina, including the Charter of Medina, illustrate these principles in fostering cooperation and peaceful coexistence. The research concludes that the Qur’an and the Prophet’s teachings provide a robust foundation for multicultural education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the pilgrimage to Mbah Priok’s grave from social, economic, and religious perspectives. This qualitative research employs a combination of literature review, historical analysis, and anthropological methods. The study reveals that the Tomb of Mbah Priok, also known as Habib Hasan Al Hadad, serves as a significant pilgrimage site despite historical controversies. The Al Hadad family has maintained religious authority and withstood temporal challenges. Notably, in April 2010, the Al Hadad family engaged in a physical and administrative conflict with a company expanding the area. During Governor Ahok’s tenure, the tomb was designated a religious tourism site and cultural heritage, fostering economic growth for local businesses and the surrounding community. This research contributes to understanding the socio-economic and religious dynamics of pilgrimage sites, highlighting the complex interplay between tradition and modernity

Abstract

The role of mosque custodians (marbot) is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and security of the mosque environment. Despite its importance, the social welfare of marbots is often suboptimal, particularly in terms of salary. This study explores the social welfare of marbots in managing mosque cleanliness, with a focus on salary, work facilities, and recognition of their contributions. The research was conducted at Ar-Rahman Grand Mosque in Sayurmatinggi Village using descriptive techniques and a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation in February 2024. Data triangulation was employed to ensure the reliability and validity of the findings. The results indicate that the social welfare of marbots in managing mosque cleanliness is still suboptimal, especially concerning salaries. The role of marbots extends beyond physical cleanliness to include significant social interactions with congregants, contributing to a positive atmosphere in the mosque. Enhancing the social welfare of marbots through better salaries, adequate work facilities, and recognition of their contributions is essential for increasing their motivation and commitment to maintaining mosque cleanliness

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of various ownership structures—managerial, institutional, foreign, and domestic—on the value of Sharia-based companies, with profitability as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative approach grounded in positivism, the research examines companies listed on the Sharia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2022. A systematic methodology is used, involving variable identification, data collection, and statistical analysis using Econometric Views (Eviews) 9 through a multiple regression model. The sample comprises 30 companies from the JII index, selected via purposive sampling, and uses balanced panel data. The results indicate that managerial (p = 0.5551), institutional (p = 0.0922), foreign (p = 0.8073), and domestic ownership (p = 0.0651) do not significantly influence firm value when mediated by profitability. Consequently, the hypotheses are rejected, demonstrating that ownership structures alone do not enhance firm value through profitability in Sharia-based companies. These findings contribute to the understanding of ownership-performance dynamics and highlight the necessity to consider additional factors affecting firm value

Abstract

The interpretation of the law of hand amputation in Surah Al-Maidah verse 38 often conveys an impression of Islamic law as rigid, static, inhumane, and contrary to human rights. This study seeks to reinterpret this law through the system approach to Islamic jurisprudence developed by Jasser Auda, a contemporary expert in Islamic law. Auda, renowned for his expertise in systems analysis and maqasid syariah, endeavors to reform Islamic legal principles to better align with contemporary issues. He employs maqasid syariah as the foundation for his systematic approach, serving as his methodology and analytical tool. Auda’s framework comprises six key features: cognitive nature, wholeness, openness, interrelated hierarchy, multidimensionality, and purposefulness. By applying these features, the study aims to reinterpret the law of hand amputation into a more flexible, dynamic, and contextually appropriate form. Rather than a rigid application, the law should consider the varying contexts in which it is implemented, ensuring it aligns with current societal values and human rights standards

Abstract

The contemporary world is vastly different from the past, particularly in the realm of communication and information. Modern advancements have facilitated seamless global communication, effectively shrinking the vast world. The internet, as a new communication medium, has had both beneficial and detrimental impacts on society. This study aims to explore the interpretation of Surah An-Nur 24:11-15, the communication ethics contained within these verses, and their application in social media interactions. Employing a qualitative library research method, data was gathered through an extensive review of relevant literature, with the Qur’an as the primary source. The communication ethics in Surah An-Nur 24:11-15 are encapsulated in three principal values: (1) speaking kindly, (2) honesty, and (3) accuracy of information (tabayyun). These ethical values are crucial for fostering peaceful and harmonious social interactions. This study highlights that these principles serve as essential guidelines for social media users, advocating for responsible and wise usage. By adhering to these values, individuals can enhance their social media interactions in accordance with Islamic teachings. The study underscores the importance of understanding and applying Islamic ethics in social media usage. Consequently, it is recommended that insights from this research be further developed and used as a reference to examine social media communication ethics from an Islamic perspective, employing diverse methodological approaches

Abstract

With today's economic developments, Brilink has emerged as an initiative to provide more efficient and flexible services to the community. Brilink represents a collaboration between Bank BRI and its customers. Within its system, once a partnership is established and officially incorporated into a single corporation, it facilitates ease of transactions both within the same bank and across different banks. This service benefits customers and other parties wishing to conduct transactions without the cumbersome process of visiting a bank directly. This paper aims to elaborate on fund transfers via Brilink and analyze transactions in the context of the wakalah bil ujrah contract. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study’s findings indicate that fund transfer transactions through Brilink do not constitute riba or usury from an Islamic perspective. This is primarily because the contract is based on mutual consent, involves no coercion, and is mutually beneficial. It also ensures transparency, wherein the customer pays a fee to the agent for the transactional services provided. This payment represents voluntary assistance or a form of mutual aid
