Journal in Islamic Studies published by the Institute for Student Studies and Empowerment IAIN Purwokerto. Subjects include textual study and fieldwork with various perspectives on law, philosophy, mysticism, history, art, theology, and more. Initially, the journal only functioned as a print and electronic journal media that accommodated and published research results from theses/final assignments and/or part of theses/final assignments for students of IAIN Purwokerto S.1 and S.2, from multidisciplinary sciences. However, due to later developments with a wider audience, the journal has managed to invite scholars and researchers outside the Institute to contribute. Thus, Indonesian and non-Indonesian scholars have enriched studies published in journals. Although from the start Raushan Fikr did not present highly qualified scientific articles, the improvement — in terms of format, style, and academic quality — never stopped. Now with articles written in Indonesian, Arabic and English and with fair peer-review procedures, Raushan Fikr continues to publish research and studies related to Islamic studies with various dimensions and approaches. Raushan Fikr, published twice a year (1 volume and 2 numbers) in January and July, has always placed Islam and Muslims in the main focus of academic inquiry and invited comprehensive observations on Islam as a theological belief and system of society and Muslims as those who practice religion with many sides. This journal, serving as a forum for Islamic studies in Indonesia and other parts of the world in a local and challenging global context, supports theme-focused studies and interdisciplinary studies. Raushan Fikr has become a medium for diffusion and exchange of ideas and research findings, in such a way that researchers, writers and readers from various learning traditions have interacted in a scientific way.

Abstract

This article seeks to explore the meanings ascribed to the recitation of wirid prayer within Muslim communities in West Sulawesi. Wirid prayer represents an important aspect of Muslim devotional practice, extending beyond a simple series of prayers or dhikr to encompass various interpretations within the local cultural context. This study employs a qualitative approach to examine the relevance and significance of wirid recitations in the daily lives of the people in West Sulawesi, and how these practices shape their religious identity. The study identifies three primary meanings associated with the practice of wirid prayer. First, the recitation is understood as a form of spiritual healing, reflecting the community's belief in its ability to provide both physical and mental well-being. Secondly, the recitation is seen as Istiadzah, a form of protection believed to shield individuals from potential threats, both physical and non-physical. This demonstrates the community’s perception of the efficacy of wirid as a safeguard. Lastly, the recitation of wirid prayer is perceived as a jampi or mantra, another form of protection believed to safeguard individuals from various dangers.

Abstract

Integrated assistance within BLK-Community programs aimed at fostering entrepreneurial incubators plays a vital role in producing competent and highly competitive entrepreneurs. Such comprehensive mentoring, involving collaboration across various stakeholders—academics, practitioners, and the industrial sector—offers participants essential access to resources, including mentorship, business networks, and funding opportunities. This research adopts a qualitative approach. The findings reveal: 1) BLK-Community Region III at UIN Prof. K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto serves as an educational and training institution dedicated to empowering communities by enhancing entrepreneurial skills and knowledge; 2) The implementation of the Integrated Mentoring Model within BLK-Community Region III is aimed at developing a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem through a holistic approach, encompassing technical, managerial, and marketing skills training. This model integrates various mentoring elements, such as guidance from experienced practitioners, project-based learning, and access to business networks, enabling participants to acquire firsthand insights from industry best practices. 3) Several significant challenges persist, including a shortage of qualified human resources, insufficient infrastructure, and limited access to business capital. Additionally, inadequate support from the private sector and government, coupled with the rapid evolution of market dynamics, further complicate the challenges that need to be addressed

Abstract

This study explores the correlation between environmental conservation and natural disasters through an interdisciplinary analysis of Surah Al-A’raf verses 56-58 and scientific data on environmental degradation. Employing a qualitative approach, the research delves into classical and contemporary Qur’anic interpretations, including Tafsir Ibnu Katsir and Tafsir Al-Mishbah, to elucidate the theological principles of stewardship (khalifah) and balance (mizan). Empirical data from authoritative sources such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are incorporated to demonstrate how anthropogenic environmental damage—such as deforestation and pollution—is closely linked to the increasing frequency of natural disasters. Case studies from Indonesia, particularly reforestation programs spearheaded by Islamic organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama, serve to illustrate the practical implementation of Islamic environmental ethics. The findings underscore that integrating Islamic teachings with scientific insights provides a comprehensive and holistic strategy for addressing ecological crises and mitigating disasters, emphasizing the pivotal role of conservation within both spiritual and scientific paradigms

Abstract

This study examines the legal status of land ownership certificates from the perspectives of positive law and Islamic jurisprudence. It explores national procedures for land certification and Islamic concepts of ownership and evidence, such as ikrar (declaration), shahadah (witness testimony), and ihya al-mawat (revival of dead land). Using a qualitative, normative-juridical method, the research analyzes statutory land rules and Islamic legal principles. Findings show that land certificates have strong evidentiary value under national law. However, bureaucratic delays, high administrative costs, and maladministration hinder the process. In Islamic law, such certificates may be recognized as valid ownership proof if acquired lawfully and aligned with justice and public welfare (maslahah). Islamic jurisprudence also emphasizes clarity in property rights to prevent disputes and promote fairness. Ultimately, while the two legal systems operate on distinct foundations, they can be integrated to build a more just and legally certain framework for land ownership.

Abstract

Justice is a core principle in Islamic law, aimed at ensuring balance and legal certainty. This study explores public perceptions of Islamic justice in Bogor City using library research and empirical methods, including interviews and surveys. It examines how justice is interpreted and what sociocultural factors influence these views. Findings show that justice is rooted in the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical scholarship. However, interpretations vary depending on education, social background, and familiarity with national law. Some view justice through Islamic moral values, while others see it within state legal frameworks. This divergence reveals a cognitive and normative gap in understanding Islamic justice. The study highlights the need for legal literacy, integrated religious education, and inclusive policy. It encourages collaboration among scholars, legal experts, and policymakers to promote a more coherent and accessible understanding of justice that reflects both religious teachings and modern societal needs

Abstract

This study reveals that Sheikh Hasan Dimejo, through his manuscript Haqqul Islam, articulates a comprehensive framework of Islamic educational values structured into three interrelated domains. First, the faith-based values emphasize obedience to divine commandments and avoidance of prohibitions, fostering taslim — complete submission — to strengthen faith. This includes vigilance against actions that contradict Islamic principles and awareness of Satan’s deceptions. Second, the worship-related values underscore the precedence of obligatory duties over supererogatory acts. Sheikh Hasan promotes learning from scholars with deep mastery of Islamic jurisprudence, encourages the performance of righteous deeds that benefit society, and highlights the importance of seeking a lawful and beneficial livelihood. Third, the moral values stress the ethical dimension of Islamic education, such as promoting social solidarity, refraining from injustice, and upholding mutual respect in interpersonal relations. Altogether, these values reflect a holistic vision of Islamic education that integrates belief, worship, and character development, aiming to shape individuals who are spiritually grounded, socially responsible, and morally upright.

Abstract

The rapid integration of digital technology into daily life has significantly altered social behavior and moral norms, particularly among adolescents. This transformation has raised concerns about moral degradation within Muslim youth communities. This study investigates the relevance of Qur’anic character education in the family as a strategic response to these challenges. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes primary and secondary sources—including Qur’anic exegesis and contemporary Islamic educational literature. Selected verses—Surah Luqman [31]: 12–19, Surah Maryam [19]: 30–34, Surah Al-An’am [6]: 151–153, Surah Al-Isra’ [17]: 23–24, and Surah Al-Hujurat [49]: 11–12—highlight core ethical principles such as gratitude, honesty, humility, and social responsibility. The findings reveal that when these values are instilled through family-based education, they form a resilient ethical framework capable of mitigating the disruptive moral effects of digital media. Qur’anic moral teachings serve as a cultural bridge across generations, reinforcing ethical awareness and preserving religious identity. The study calls for renewed attention to intra-family Qur’anic education as a vital form of cultural resistance and moral resilience in the digital era

Abstract

Poverty remains a significant challenge to civilization, particularly within Muslim communities. As a fundamental pillar of Islam, zakat serves a crucial role in alleviating poverty and promoting social welfare. This study analyzes and compares zakat governance in two leading institutions in Jember: Amil Zakat Al-Baitul Amien and the Nurul Hayat Foundation, with a specific focus on empowering mustahiq (zakat recipients). Using a qualitative, descriptive approach, the research explores zakat governance practices based on data gathered through interviews with institutional managers, supported by insights from zakat practitioners and academics. The findings indicate that both institutions generally uphold the principles of good zakat governance and operate with professional standards. However, full optimization remains a challenge—particularly for Al-Baitul Amien. Both organizations have adopted digital technologies to improve zakat collection and service delivery, with the Nurul Hayat Foundation demonstrating greater technological integration. Despite its stronger performance, Nurul Hayat still faces areas for improvement, especially in achieving full accountability, transparency, and operational efficiency. Strengthening governance frameworks in both institutions is essential to unlock zakat’s full potential in empowering mustahiq and supporting sustainable socio-economic development

Abstract

This article examines the legalization of unregistered marriages in Indonesia through the lens of a filogynous gender hermeneutic, with particular attention to the structural vulnerabilities faced by women within a patriarchal legal system. Employing a qualitative methodology that integrates policy analysis and critical discourse approaches, the study draws on document analysis and semi-structured interviews conducted with three Gender Study Centers in Purwokerto. The findings reveal that, although Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation No. 108 of 2019 provides administrative recognition of unregistered marital status, it fails to ensure substantive legal protection for women. The filogynous gender hermeneutic is proposed as an alternative epistemological framework that challenges structural subordination and affirms female agency within marital relations. The article recommends policy reformulation, strengthened gender literacy, and inter-institutional collaboration as strategic measures to secure women’s rights in the context of legally unregistered marriages

Abstract

This study examines the legal status of zakat on professional income earned by Indonesian migrant workers in South Korea, based on the views of Yusuf al-Qaradawi. It evaluates the applicability of his perspective to the practice of zakat in this context. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the research is based on field data obtained through observation and structured interviews. The findings show that professional income is subject to zakat if workers meet the legal and religious requirements. The income is classified as al-mal al-mustafad al-amalah, meaning earnings derived from wages or salaries through professional work. Furthermore, the average monthly income of these workers exceeds the nisab threshold when compared to the regional minimum wage, thus fulfilling the obligation for zakat. Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s interpretation remains relevant, as he draws an analogy between zakat on professional income and zakat on monetary assets, underscoring its necessity among migrant workers.
