Abstract

The DepEd Order No. 41, s. 2017 catapulted the implementation of the Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) Program. However, since its inception, there is a dearth of professional literature on a coherent sociological understanding of Muslim education in the Philippines. This paper aims to provide an understanding of the implementation challenges of the ALIVE program employing sociological perspectives. The study utilized a qualitative research method anchored on Case Study Research Model. Five ALIVE implementers in Metro Manila were part of the research participants. A thematic analysis was initiated and triangulation of data was employed from relevant data sources. The analysis results showed several challenges faced by the select ALIVE schools: The intended curriculum lacks appreciation of the approaches and evaluation of student learning. The scarcity of learning spaces was evident. In teaching, most of the Asatidz or Madrasah teachers require enhancement of their pedagogical competence. The cultural variance among Muslims is still evident, especially in non-Muslim communities. The findings indicate that there is a need to create deliberate plans to achieve the intended learning outcomes of the ALIVE Program. Given the various gaps and challenges identified in this study, there is a necessity to evaluate the program at the grassroots. In conclusion, maximizing and strengthening the participation of the various stakeholders and different sectors in society is imperative in the development and sustainability of Muslim education programs in the Philippines.

Abstract

The moral damage caused by the erosion of positive values and national character is quite concerning. This phenomenon has encouraged government concern through strengthening students’ character. Strengthening students' character through formal education has not produced significant results, as evidenced by the many symptoms of moral decay and crime involving students in Indonesia. To overcome this, an alternative strategy is needed to elaborate between character education based on thoughts and hearts, which non-formal educational institutions can carry out. This research explores the suluk method as an alternative for forming religious characters for students who practice the Thariqah Al-Mu'min in West Kalimantan. This study uses a case study method and a qualitative approach. The research results found that; suluk can shape the religious character of students who practice the Al-Mu'min Order; these characteristics are; peace of mind, discipline, enthusiasm in worship, gratitude, trustworthiness, honesty, understanding the purpose of life, feeling close to Allah, feeling more moral than before, feeling more important in controlling lust, respecting others, increasing love for the hereafter, increasing longing for Allah and His Messenger, and sincere in worship. Suluk can give a deep religious impression and feel the presence of God in his life. This study emphasizes the importance of using the method of suluk in non-formal Islamic societies and formal Islamic education institutions such as Islamic boarding schools and religious colleges to form pious students. However, suluk also has weaknesses; only a thariqah practitioner can practice suluk. The students must also be physically and mentally prepared because the suluk method requires seriousness to form a religious character in the performer.

Abstract

Humans are constantly confronted with a variety of problems, including those pertaining to them as individuals, social beings, and divine beings. These conditions require humans to be always Sabar, Ikhlas, Syukur, and Tawadhu', as the elements of the religiosity dimensions. The population of East Kalimantan is comprised of adolescents with different cultural background enrolled in Junior High School in East Kalimantan. The sampling technique was carried out in phases, beginning with purposive area sampling and concluding with proportional simple random sampling, with a 5% margin of error, using the formula developed by Taro Yamane. Research data collection techniques are observation and questionnaires. SPSS was used to analyze data using multiple linear regression models. Several research findings demonstrate a correlation between religiosity and happiness. This quantitative field study seeks to determine how the attitudes of Sabar, Syukur, Ikhlas, and Tawadhu' influence the psychological well-being of East Kalimantan students. The coefficient of determination of 0.668 indicates that Ikhlas (X2), Syukur (X3), and Tawadhu' (X4) directly influence the Y variable by 66.8%, while the remaining (100-60)% = 33.2% is influenced by other factors in addition to Sabar (X1), Ikhlas (X2), Syukur (X3), and Tawadhu' (X4) that were not included in this study. On the basis of these considerations, the research findings can serve as a guide for educational curriculum stakeholders conducting research on the policy, theory, and practice of educational curricula containing the variables Sabar, Ikhlas, Syukur, and Tawadhu' in order to enhance the psychological well-being of students.

Abstract

The existing management of Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah’s education has not been able to play a role in preparing the expected graduates. This situation occurred because Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah (MI) did not know what innovations would produce professional graduates who could become role models from the ubudiyah side and tolerant of differences. This research aims to explore madrasah education activities in developing local and national content from a value chain perspective in achieving educational innovation based on multicultural. This research used qualitative methods, with a case study approach. This research takes MI Al Ahmad Krian, Sidoarjo as an object. Value chain activities implemented in the school provided extra value in developing local and national content. The cost leadership implemented by the school succeeded in creating 1) quality-based educational services at affordable cost, 2) community satisfaction of the motto “School based on the Qur’an, global and environment,” and 3) parent’s pride in their children with advanced academic achievements, practices of ubudiyah, and reciting Qur’an.

Abstract

Every teacher has a philosophy that affects their education practices and approaches to students. The adopted educational philosophy guides the teachers who are the implementers of the curriculum. Therefore, it is crucial to explore the educational philosophy adopted by teacher candidates, who are expected to be good curriculum practitioners and be educated in this direction. This qualitative study explored primary school teacher candidates’ philosophy of education. Data were collected from 24 primary school teacher candidates and analyzed thematically. The results showed that the participants mostly held the philosophy of Progressivism, and some had an eclectic understanding. Because Turkey's current primary school curriculum was prepared according to the philosophy of Progressivism, it can be inferred that teacher candidates who believe in this philosophy are compatible with the curriculum. It is also concluded that teacher candidates with a philosophy other than Progressivism have not yet fully understood the curriculum. Activities related to increasing knowledge and awareness about educational philosophies in teacher education programs are recommended.

The findings of the research showed that Mullah Sadra considers creativity as a part of the human soul, that is, he considers it as one of the platforms for realizing personal perfection and becoming a human being, and even above that, he considers creativity as a platform for the possibility of reaching the highest existential perfection, i.e. reaching It refers to true love and encountering a true lover. According to the mentioned contents, Mulla Sadra has a different definition of creativity. Creativity has a high position in Mulla Sadra's philosophy and he considers it a kind of godliness and has a wide scope for it. Creativity is considered a part of the human soul, and humans have an existential form that requires creativity. That existential form of the human soul, which is the source of all three creativity, creative person, and creative work. In Mulla Sadra's philosophy, the soul, as the first order of existence, has the most and strongest closeness to the body. Mulla Sadra considers the soul and the body as necessary and the soul cannot exist independently of the body. The human spirit has the ability to create, and this capability leads to human evolution.
