Abstract

Early reading instruction is a foundational component of literacy development in elementary education, particularly within Islamic schooling contexts where cognitive skills are nurtured alongside moral and spiritual values. However, challenges such as limited engaging media and low student motivation often impede reading acquisition. This study aims to examine: (1) teacher and student activities in implementing a puzzle-based syllabic method, and (2) improvements in early reading skills among first-grade students at State Elementary School 435 Sanggalangi’. The study employed Classroom Action Research consisting of two cycles—planning, action, observation, and reflection—with a total of 19 students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results show that the use of interactive puzzle media enhanced teacher performance and increased student participation in syllable assembly and sentence formation. Early reading skills improved significantly, with mastery rising from 57.89% in Cycle I to 89.47% in Cycle II. The integration of an engaging puzzle-based syllabic method, aligned with Islamic educational principles such as tarbiyah-oriented guidance and value-based learning, proved effective in stimulating students’ cognitive abilities, interest, and active involvement. This study contributes to the development of innovative, enjoyable, and value-integrated literacy instruction within Islamic elementary education.

Abstract

This study examines the philosophical contributions of Nashiruddin al-Thusi, one of the most influential figures in Islamic intellectual history. The problem addressed in this research is the limited understanding of al-Thusi’s comprehensive philosophical system, as most existing studies focus only on isolated aspects of his work. The objective of this study is to provide a holistic analysis of al-Thusi’s thought, particularly in the areas of logic, ethics, metaphysics, and science, and to assess its relevance in contemporary contexts. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, the research used a library-based method in which primary and secondary textual sources were systematically collected, categorized, and analyzed thematically. The results show that al-Thusi developed a logical framework that strengthened philosophical reasoning, proposed a tripartite model of ethics that encompassed the individual, family, and society, and advanced metaphysical insights centered on the distinction between necessary and contingent existence. Furthermore, his scientific achievements in astronomy and mathematics, including the development of trigonometry and the formulation of the Tusi Couple, demonstrated his role as both a philosopher and scientist whose work bridged medieval Islamic scholarship with the foundations of modern science. The study concludes that al-Thusi’s integrated vision of reason and revelation provides a coherent model of knowledge that remains relevant for addressing present challenges in education, morality, and the dialogue between science and religion.

Abstract

This study explores the multidimensional concept of taqwa in the Qur’anic perspective and examines its relevance to Islamic counseling therapy through a systematic literature review (SLR). In response to the growing demand for spiritually integrated mental health interventions, this research synthesizes empirical and theoretical studies published between 2020 and 2025, focusing on the psychological functions of taqwa and its applicability in therapeutic settings. Using a structured search strategy across major academic databases, twenty-one articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed narratively based on thematic patterns. The results show that taqwa is consistently defined as a comprehensive form of spiritual awareness encompassing self-regulation, moral sensitivity, and behavioral discipline grounded in one’s relationship with God. Empirical findings indicate that taqwa-based interventions—such as dhikr, reflection on Qur’anic verses, and spiritual exercises—significantly reduce anxiety and depression, enhance emotional intelligence, strengthen resilience, and improve overall psychological well-being. Studies employing experimental and qualitative designs provide converging evidence that the internalization of taqwa can function as a therapeutic mechanism that stabilizes emotions, shapes coping strategies, and fosters spiritual-psychological balance. The review also reveals a gap between theoretical insights and practical implementation, suggesting the need for standardized counseling modules grounded in Qur’anic concepts of taqwa. This study contributes to the development of an integrated framework for Islamic counseling, demonstrating that taqwa can serve as a core psychological construct with meaningful implications for mental health practice. Future research is encouraged to expand clinical trials, develop standardized measurement tools for taqwa, and examine its effectiveness in diverse cultural and clinical settings.

Abstract

Poverty is a persistent global challenge with multifaceted dimensions affecting societies worldwide. In Islamic teachings, the Qur'an provides comprehensive insights into poverty, addressing its economic aspects and moral and social implications. This study explores the Qur'an's perspectives on poverty, examining its relevance in modern socio-economic contexts and proposing strategies for effective poverty alleviation. Islamic teachings emphasize social justice, equality, and collective responsibility, which are crucial for understanding and addressing poverty. Concepts such as zakat (obligatory almsgiving), sadaqah (voluntary charity), and waqf (endowment) serve as foundational instruments for wealth redistribution and social cohesion. These teachings advocate for a society where the affluent support the less fortunate, fostering a more equitable distribution of resources. In contemporary society, poverty persists despite economic growth and development efforts. The Qur'anic principles offer holistic approaches to poverty that encompass spiritual, moral, and economic dimensions. These include empowering individuals through education and skills development, promoting economic self-reliance, and ensuring fair access to resources and opportunities for all members of society. This research employs a literature review methodology to explore Qur'anic insights on poverty, analyzing verses and interpretations from Islamic exegesis (tafsir) and scholarly works. It identifies key themes such as the obligation to give, the ethical considerations of wealth, and the role of community solidarity in poverty alleviation. The findings contribute to theoretical knowledge in Islamic studies and practical guidance for policymakers and social institutions seeking effective strategies to combat poverty. By integrating Qur'anic teachings into poverty alleviation strategies, this study proposes a framework for sustainable development that addresses the root causes of poverty while promoting social justice and collective well-being. Understanding and applying these teachings not only benefit Muslim communities but also offer valuable insights for global efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable development goals

Abstract

This study examines the practice of communal iftar (iftar jama‘i) across two contrasting institutional settings, namely campus mosques and community mosques in Sukoharjo Regency, Indonesia. It aims to analyze how iftar activities are organized, how patterns of congregational behavior differ, and how these practices can be interpreted within the framework of fiqh al-‘ibādah. Using a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach, data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with mosque administrators, Ramadan committees, and congregants. The findings indicate that institutional structure plays a significant role in shaping religious practices. Campus mosques tend to implement highly structured and regulated systems, characterized by formal committees, standardized food distribution, and controlled participation mechanisms. In contrast, community mosques exhibit more flexible, participatory, and socially embedded practices, relying on voluntary contributions and collective engagement. Despite these differences, both contexts remain consistent with the normative principles of fiqh al-‘ibādah, particularly in encouraging timely iftar and promoting social charity. These findings demonstrate that religious practices are not static but are dynamically negotiated within specific social contexts. This study reinforces and extends the concept of living fiqh by showing how normative Islamic teachings are continuously interpreted in everyday religious life. It also provides practical implications for mosque management in designing religious activities that balance normative compliance with social inclusivity, thereby offering a more integrated and context-sensitive understanding of contemporary Muslim religious practices during Ramadan.

Abstract

The hidden curriculum is vital in pesantren education, often surpassing formal curricula in shaping students' moral foundations. This research synthesizes literature on its implementation and impact on character building from 2021 to 2026. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PRISMA protocol, 16 final articles were selected from Google Scholar via Publish or Perish. Findings reveal that implementation manifests through four pillars: exemplary leadership (uswah hasanah), organizational culture, dormitory environment, and digital integration. Dominant traits formed include religiosity, self-reliance, discipline, and soft skills. The study highlights a shift from traditional management to digitalization, altering student interaction patterns. These implications offer a strategic framework for pesantren leaders to optimize unwritten elements, strengthening character education in the modern era.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) is a fundamental right for all children, including those with disabilities; however, its implementation remains limited and often lacks adaptive, inclusive approaches. While previous studies have primarily focused on normative discussions of IRE for children with disabilities, there has been insufficient attention to integrating Islamic educational values into practical caregiving strategies. This study, titled Islamic Educational Values in Caring for Children with Disabilities: A Literature-Based Qualitative Study, aims to explore: (1) the core Islamic educational values relevant to children with disabilities, and (2) practical strategies for incorporating these values into caregiving practices. Using a qualitative approach, the research analyzes scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant documents through content analysis, with data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that key Islamic educational values for children with disabilities include faith (iman), piety (taqwa), patience, responsibility, and moral conduct. These values can be implemented through adaptive strategies such as individualized instruction, habituation, demonstration, play-based learning, and continuous guidance. The study highlights the crucial role of families and educators in creating inclusive, supportive, and value-oriented learning environments. This research contributes to an integrative framework that links Islamic educational values with caregiving strategies, offering both theoretical insights and practical guidance for parents, educators, and policymakers in promoting inclusive Islamic education for children with disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to get an overview of the management model of corporate-based teacher HR management in private Islamic schools as a residue of globalization and decentralization of education developed by the urban Muslim middle class by taking subjects in Sekolah Natur Islam (SANI) and Sekolah Islam Terpadu Fitrah Hanniah (SIT FH). This research is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The results of this study show that: a) conceptually-theoretically the curriculum and independent learning developed by SANI and SIT FH are in line with the national education system: b) the management of teacher human resources at SANI and SIT FH has standard operating procedures (POS) that are tailored to the objectives of school education: and c) the development of SANI education focuses on micro moral development such as school digitalization,  strengthening literacy, and model schools. Meanwhile, SIT FH focuses on macro material development such as infrastructure development and institutional development.  Thus, this study confirms that diversification of educational development strategies, both in moral and material aspects, is a complementary approach to improving the quality of education holistically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the authority of the House of Representatives (DPR) in conducting evaluations of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as regulated in Article 228A of DPR Regulation Number 1 of 2020, as well as to examine it from the perspective of Siyasah Dusturiyah. This study is motivated by the ongoing debate regarding the limits of legislative authority in exercising oversight over independent state institutions, particularly the KPK which plays a strategic role in combating corruption in Indonesia. This research employs a normative legal research method using a statutory approach and a conceptual approach, which relies on the analysis of legal norms, doctrines, and relevant literature. The results of the study indicate that constitutionally the DPR has an oversight function over the administration of government; However, the implementation of evaluations of the KPK must still consider the principle of institutional independence as specified in the legislation. From the perspective of Siyasah Dusturiyah, oversight of the exercise of power constitutes part of the principle of maintaining justice and preventing the abuse of authority. Nevertheless, its implementation must be based on the values of justice, public benefit (maslahah), and must not create domination of power among state institutions. Therefore, the evaluation mechanism of the KPK should be carried out proportionally so that it remains consistent with the principle of checks and balances within the constitutional system as well as the values of justice within the perspective of Islamic law
