Abstract

Currently, the use of antibiotics has increased sharply and use in the long term will have a bad impact on health. So the emergence of efforts in the form of making natural antibiotics by utilizing materials that are easily available in the environment. One of them is milk, where milk is a food product produced by farm animals, for example cows. This milk can be used as a probiotic. This probiotic is made by adding a bacterium and the bacterium that is often used is Lactobacillus casei. In addition to milk, the material that can be used is telang flower, which is one of the typical plants of Ternate, Maluku with purple, white, pink, and blue petals. Telang flower is often used as a traditional medicine because it has many benefits and content in it. Therefore, in this study Telang flower was used as a prebiotic tested on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The study was carried out in vitro by the method of laboratory experiments. The design used is Post Test control group only. The test is repeated at each concentration 3 times to obtain accurate results. The inhibition zone is measured using a caliper. The result of the inhibition zone formed from 3 repetitions is taken as the average value. The test results of the minimum inhibitory concentration of probiotics against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria showed results if at a concentration of 1.25% can form an inhibitory zone of 9.47 mm. While the minimum inhibitory concentration test on prebiotics against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria showed results at a concentration of 2.5% can form an inhibitory zone of 9.02 mm. This suggests that probitiks and prebiotics can be used as antibacterials, since at the lowest concentrations used they can form an inhibitory zone. So the higher the concentration of probiotics and prebiotics used, the inhibition zone formed will be greater.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the improvement of junior high school students' mathematical communication skills through Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Geogebra and Direct Instruction assisted by Geogebra. The research also considers the level of student learning independence. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest design and a control group, involving two treatment groups. groups that underwent the PBL approach with the help of Geogebra and Direct Instruction with the help of Geogebra. Students in this study were divided based on their level of learning independence. Data was collected through an initial test (pretest), implementation of learning, and a final test (posttest). Data analysis involved a comparison between the increase in students' mathematical communication skills before and after treatment in the two treatment groups, as well as the influence of the level of learning independence on increasing mathematical communication skills. The research results show that both learning approaches contribute to improving students' mathematical communication skills. However, the group that took part in PBL assisted by Geogebra showed more significant improvement compared to the Direct Instruction group assisted by Geogebra. In addition, it was identified that the level of student learning independence influences the results of improving mathematical communication skills, where students with a high level of learning independence tend to benefit more from PBL assisted by Geogebra. In order to improve students' mathematical communication skills in learning spatial material, it is recommended that educators consider using Geogebra-assisted PBL and pay attention to students' level of learning independence in designing effective learning strategies.

Abstract

This study delves into the impact of Entrepreneurship Education Programs (EEPs) at universities on fostering students' entrepreneurial interests, employing a qualitative approach to gauge the effectiveness of these programs. Through in-depth interviews with 20 students participating in an EEP at a private university, the research uncovers a significant gap between the theoretical knowledge imparted by these programs and the practical skills and motivations needed to pursue entrepreneurship. The findings reveal that while students value the theoretical underpinnings of entrepreneurship taught in these programs, the lack of hands-on, experiential learning opportunities and direct engagement with successful entrepreneurs leaves them feeling underprepared and insufficiently inspired to embark on entrepreneurial ventures. Students expressed a strong desire for EEPs to incorporate more real-world applications, such as internships, project collaborations, and mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs, to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical entrepreneurial experience. The study concludes with recommendations for universities to redesign EEPs to include a greater emphasis on experiential learning and engagement with the entrepreneurial ecosystem, aiming to better equip students with the entrepreneurial mindset, skills, and networks necessary to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors. By highlighting these insights, the study contributes to the ongoing discourse on the optimization of entrepreneurship education to more effectively cultivate the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs, underscoring the need for a more integrated approach that balances theoretical knowledge with practical application and inspiration.

Abstract

Mathematics learning occurs within the context of classroom interaction. This interaction entails the engagement of students with their peers, both within the whole class setting and within smaller group settings. Furthermore, students interact with their teachers and utilize various learning resources during the process of mathematics learning. This study aims to explore the role played by students with field-independent and field-dependent cognitive styles in the context of mathematics learning in vocational schools. The research methodology employed for this study is a case study approach. The findings of this research revealed that there existed a division of student roles within the groups, which was determined through collaborative decision-making amongst the group members. The division of student roles during class discussions can be summarized as follows: 1) In order to successfully complete the activities assigned by the teacher, it is imperative to establish a division of roles within the groups. 2) Various interaction patterns were observed, including requests for help, provision of assistance, and negotiation. 3) The pattern of Thinking Interaction observed indicated distinct roles for the three students with field-independent cognitive styles. Consequently, this finding contradicts Witkin's assertion that field independents prefer to work independently.
