Abstract

The hospitality industry requires effective and efficient operational cost management to support service quality and operational performance. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of operational cost utilization in supporting the performance of the housekeeping department at Hotel Sutan Raja Manado. A qualitative descriptive method was employed using both primary and secondary data sources. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the housekeeping and accounting departments, as well as operational cost and room occupancy data for 2024. The findings indicate that the utilization of housekeeping operational costs has generally been effective in supporting hotel operations, as reflected in maintained room cleanliness, room readiness for guests, and consistent service quality. Room occupancy rates were found to influence operational cost usage, particularly variable costs such as guest supplies, cleaning supplies, and laundry expenses. However, in terms of efficiency, several operational costs remained relatively high during periods of low occupancy, indicating that cost control practices have not yet been fully optimized. The study highlights the importance of strengthening supervision, conducting periodic cost evaluations, and improving coordination between the housekeeping and accounting departments to enhance operational cost efficiency and support sustainable hotel performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of price and brand image on purchasing decisions on Shopee, with halal cosmetics labeling as a mediating variable, among female students at UNHASY Tebuireng. This study is motivated by the growing halal cosmetics industry in Indonesia and the widespread use of the Shopee platform as a means of purchasing cosmetics online. When making purchasing decisions, Muslim women not only consider price and brand image but also pay attention to the halal status of products, which is verified through halal labeling. This study employs a quantitative approach using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to female students at UNHASY Tebuireng who had previously purchased cosmetics on Shopee. The results of the study indicate that price has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, brand image has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, and halal cosmetics labeling has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Furthermore, halal cosmetics labeling was found to mediate the effect of brand image on purchasing decisions but did not mediate the effect of price on purchasing decisions. These findings suggest that decisions to purchase cosmetics are influenced not only by economic factors and brand image but also by consumers’ awareness of the halal status of the products they use.

Abstract

The rise of social commerce, particularly through the TikTok Shop platform, has revolutionized consumer purchasing behavior, especially concerning skincare products among the Gen-Z demographic. This investigation seeks to understand how content marketing, Influencer marketing, online customer reviews, and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) affect skincare purchase decisions on TikTok Shop, simultaneously assessing FOMO's role as a mediating factor. A quantitative methodology was employed for this research, utilizing a Google Form survey distributed to 200 Generation Z participants residing in Semarang City, selected via a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using Jamovi software, incorporating multiple linear regression and mediation analysis. The study's conclusions reveal that content marketing, online customer reviews, and FOMO exert a positive and significant influence on purchase decisions, whereas Influencer marketing does not show a significant direct effect. The developed model accounts for 74.9% of the variability in purchase decisions (R²=0.749). Mediation analysis validated FOMO's function as a mediator between the influence of both content marketing and Influencer marketing on purchase decisions, but not for the effect of online customer reviews. These outcomes indicate that purchase decisions are shaped by a simultaneous blend of informational and psycho-social routes.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the influence of Imports of destination countries, Money Supply (M2) of destination countries, Interest Rates of destination countries, and Inflation of destination countries on the Rupiah exchange rate against the currencies of BRICS countries. The data used are secondary data obtained from the World Data Bank. The analytical method applied is panel data regression by combining cross-section and time series data processed using Eviews 12 software. The cross-section data covers five BRICS member countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, while the time series data covers an observation period of sixteen years from 2009-2024. The results of panel data regression show that the Import variable has a positive and significant influence on the Rupiah exchange rate against the currencies of BRICS countries. The Money Supply (M2) variable has a negative and significant influence on the Rupiah exchange rate against the currencies of BRICS countries. Meanwhile, Interest Rates show a positive but insignificant influence on the Rupiah exchange rate against the currencies of BRICS countries. On the other hand, inflation in the destination country has a negative and insignificant influence on the Rupiah exchange rate against the currencies of BRICS countries. Simultaneously, imports in the destination country, the amount of money circulating in the destination country, interest rates in the destination country, and inflation in the destination country have a significant influence on the Rupiah exchange rate against the currencies of the BRICS countries.

Abstract

Financial performance is a crucial indicator reflecting a company’s capability to generate profit and maintain business sustainability. In the mining industry, financing decisions and operational cost management are essential factors influencing financial performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of capital structure on financial performance, examine the effect of capital structure on cost efficiency, determine the effect of cost efficiency on financial performance, and evaluate the mediating role of cost efficiency in the relationship between capital structure and financial performance within the Holding Industri Tambang MIND ID from 2021 to 2025. This quantitative explanatory study analyzed quarterly financial report data from publicly listed holding member companies using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) executed through SmartPLS 3. The empirical findings reveal that capital structure has a significant negative effect on financial performance, capital structure has no significant effect on cost efficiency, cost efficiency has a significant negative effect on financial performance, and cost efficiency fails to mediate the relationship between capital structure and financial performance. These findings indicate that operational efficiency has not operated as the mediating bridge connecting financial decisions to overall financial performance in MIND ID holding members. Consequently, holding management must establish adaptive debt threshold policies and digitalized field cost controls to sustain profitability during commodity market downturns.

Abstract

Fiscal decentralization aims to improve human development by strengthening local governments' fiscal capacity. However, increased fiscal resources do not always lead to better human development outcomes, particularly in regions with high dependence on intergovernmental transfers. This study examines the effects of Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD) and Intergovernmental Transfers (TKD) on the Human Development Index (HDI) through the mediating role of Regional Expenditure in the districts and municipality of Central Kalimantan Province. An explanatory quantitative approach was employed using panel data from 14 local governments during 2019–2024. Data were analyzed using panel regression and causal mediation analysis. The results reveal that PAD and TKD positively affect Regional Expenditure, with TKD exerting a stronger influence, indicating the presence of the Flypaper Effect. In addition, PAD, TKD, and Regional Expenditure significantly improve HDI, while Regional Expenditure partially mediates the relationship between fiscal capacity and human development. These findings suggest that sustainable human development depends not only on fiscal capacity but also on the effectiveness of public expenditure allocation. The study contributes to the fiscal decentralization literature by integrating Fiscal Federalism Theory, Flypaper Effect Theory, Fiscal Illusion Theory, and Human Development Theory, while providing policy implications for strengthening local fiscal independence and improving the quality of regional expenditure.

Abstract

Regional Financial Independence is an important indicator in fiscal decentralization, reflecting the ability of regions to finance regional expenditures without relying too much on transfers from the central government. Therefore, local governments must continue to optimize the management of regional financial resources to create good Regional Financial Independence. This study aims to determine the effect of Regional Taxes, Regional Levies, and Regional Expenditures on Regional Financial Independence and to determine whether the Balance Fund can moderate this influence. This research is a type of quantitative research using secondary data from the Regency/City APBD report in East Java Province. The data collection technique in this study used documentation techniques. The sample of this study amounted to 38 regencies/cities in East Java Province with a sampling technique that is saturated sampling. The data analysis method used in this study is panel data regression analysis with eviews13 software. The results showed that local taxes and levies have a positive and significant effect on Regional Financial Independence. Regional Expenditure has no effect on Regional Financial Independence. The Balance Fund can moderate by weakening the effect of Local Taxes on Regional Financial Independence. The Balance Fund cannot moderate the effect of Regional Retribution and Regional Expenditure on Regional Financial Independence. The implication of this research provides a strategic evaluation for local governments to reduce fiscal illusion by optimizing local resource management rather than relying heavily on central transfers.
