Abstract

Parental involvement contains an exceptionally imperative part in expanding students' learning motivation, particularly amid youth, where academic pressures are often accompanied  by emotional instability. This considers points to examine the relationship between parental nearness at home and the learning inspiration of grade IX students at SMPN 2 Lembang.Utilizing expressive quantitative strategies, information was collected through surveys conveyed to 267 respondents, representing 80.36% of all grade IX students. The main variables analyzed include the frequency and duration of parental presence as well as indicators of student learning motivation, such as achievement goals, engagement, and academic success. The study used Pearson correlation analysis to investigate the connection among these variables. The findings indicated a strong positive correlation (r = 0.776) between parental presence and overall learning motivation, with a stronger relationship (r = 0.791) in students living with their parents compared to those not living with their parents (r = 0.327). Students who live with their parents tend to be more motivated because they receive direct emotional and academic support at home. In contrast, those who do not live with their parents tend to draw motivation, such as other family members or peers.This research emphasizes the importance of parental involvement in improving students' learning motivation while highlighting other factors such as socioeconomic status, parents' education level and the quality of the parent-child relationship. Additionally provides practical recommendations, such as increasing parental involvement through school programs and providing additional support for students who do not live with their parents.

Abstract

This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study is all students who are potential subjects. Sampling was carried out using the purpose sampling method. The research instrument is a questionnaire that is distributed online to respondents who meet the criteria that have been determined. this study aims to (1) Identify the influence between the views of students on investment fraud with their mental condition (2) analyze the views of students related to the risks and losses of investment fraud. This study shows that although theoretically bulging investments can have a negative impact on mental health, such as stress, anxiety, and feelings of insecurity, the results of data analysis did not find a significant relationship between the experience of bulging investments and students ' mental health conditions. The relationships found were negative but very weak and not statistically significant. This indicates that the impact of student mental health may be influenced by other factors beyond the experience of bulging investments.

Abstract

The research aims to find out types of figurative language used in the Malibu Nights album and the most dominant figurative language that is used. The data source is obtained from an album called Malibu Nights from one of LANY's discography. This research used the qualitative method and Perrine’s theory in collecting and analyzing the data. From the 26 data, 5 types of figurative language consist 6 items of metaphor, 5 items of personifications, 9 items of hyperbole, 5 items of simile, and 1 item of paradox. From the data that has been found, it can be concluded that the dominant figurative language that are used in Malibu Nights album is hyperbole with total of 9 items.

Abstract

This research explores the communication barriers between working parents in monitoring adolescent social interactions through social media. The study adopts a constructivist paradigm and a qualitative phenomenological approach. Symbolic Interactionism theory is employed to understand the impact of social media on the formation of adolescents' self-concept, while Family Communication Theory highlights communication gaps between parents and children. The research findings indicate that social media can be an additional communication barrier for working parents due to adolescents' addiction to social media and the parents' limited understanding of social media usage after a lack of face-to-face interaction. Working parents need help spending quality time together and supervising their children in a hostile social media environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the category shifts employed by the translator in translating prepositional phrases in a novel titled *"Ugly Love"* from English into Indonesian. A qualitative descriptive method was used in this research. The findings reveal that, specifically in Chapter 1 of the novel, eight (8) instances of category shifts were identified, consisting of one (1) structural shift, two (2) class shifts, three (3) unit shifts, and two (2) intra-system shifts. When translating phrases, structural shifts are the most common occurrences in the Indonesian language. However, based on the findings, prepositional phrases are translated in the translator's style without altering the meaning of the source language, ensuring that the results remain accurate and acceptable.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to increase student literacy by providing a reading corner and tutoring at UPTD SDI Waewaru. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research were 18 class IV UPTD SDI Waewaru students. This research went through several stages, namely planning, implementation and observation. The research results after implementing the reading corner showed that out of 18 students there were 13 students or 72% of students could read fluently. This shows that the provision of reading corners and tutoring has a positive impact on students' interest and literacy skills, especially in terms of reading and writing. Thus, this strategy is effective in increasing literacy in the school environment.

Abstract

This research examined about speech acts in the movie. Speech acts are the most widely examined object in language pragmatics. The most essential thing in speech act is the message that the speaker wants to be delivered. This research is aimed to analyse the speech acts in Emily in Paris, season 1: episodes 1 used the theory from Searle. This research used qualitative method in collecting the data. The result of the research shows that there are 50 data of speech act used in Emily in Paris, Season 1: Episodes 1. They are 21 data of Assertive, 7 data of Directive, 10 data of Commissive, 10 data of Expressive, and 2 data of Declarative. The findings show that the Assertive data are the most dominant used in this movie.

Abstract

Movie titles are also accessible through the "search filters" on IMDb. Users can input the desired title(s) in the search bar, which subsequently provides details such as the release year, runtime, IMDb rating, and a brief synopsis of the film. On IMDb, titles can also have their English version (translation or target language). Given the presence of English title translation for Indonesian movies on IMDb, the researcher believes it is important to analyze them. Among the 134 English title translation on IMDb of Indonesian romance movies released from 2020 to 2024, 20 were adapted titles and 114 were original titles. In terms of adapted titles, fully changed titles (19) were far more common than partially changed titles (1).
The study identified three translation methods: literal translation (13 titles), free translation (4 titles), and a combination of free and literal translation (3 titles).
These findings suggest that, in translating movie titles from Indonesian to English, the translator can face the challenge of maintaining or highlighting the significance of the original title.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of the principal in the implementation of school-based management. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 6 Banyuning. Data collection techniques used in this study include interviews, field observations, and document studies. The aim of the research is to identify and describe the professionalism of the principal in implementing school-based management. Based on the findings in the field, the principal's role in implementing school-based management has been professional. The principal serves as a role model and motivator for both teaching and administrative staff. The researcher concludes that the principal has effectively carried out leadership roles, motivated teachers, and improved educational facilities and infrastructure in the implementation of school-based management. The researcher recommends that the principal continue to enhance their professionalism in fulfilling their role to ensure the institution's growing recognition and trust within the community.

Abstract

Since words may be used to link individuals, express ideas, and transmit meaning, they are essential to communication. Character development, plot development, and audience involvement are all influenced by the language employed in dialogue. Through the use of figurative language, characters can communicate complex ideas, emotions, or relationships in dialogue in ways that are rich in meaning, vivid, and memorable. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of figurative language used in the Spellbound film. This film was analyzed using Gorys Keraf's theory of figurative language. The figurative language found were metaphor (23), antonomasia (14), personification (9), pun (8), irony (6), simile (4), antithesis (4), and hyperbole (30). The use of figurative language in the dialogue of the film Spellbound makes the story more interesting.
