Abstract

Asting, a condition characterized by low body weight in toddlers, has a prevalence of 28.94% in Martapura Timur District. This study aimed to explore the relationship between income, food availability, and consumption patterns as factors contributing to wasting among toddlers aged 12-59 months. Using a Cross-Sectional design, data were collected from 45 purposively sampled toddlers through questionnaires, food availability forms, and food frequency forms. Spearman Rank correlation (α=0.05) was employed for data analysis. Findings revealed that most mothers were under 20 or over 35 years old, with junior high school education and predominantly unemployed. Male toddlers were slightly more prevalent, with 82.2% classified as wasting and 17.8% in severe wasting. Low family income (below the minimum wage) was common (71.1%), and food availability ranged from insufficient to barely sufficient. Consumption patterns were largely suboptimal (64.4%), with staple food intake (<150 g/day) limited to rice and corn, animal protein (50 g/day) from eggs only, plant protein (<40 g/day) primarily from tofu, and minimum vegetable consumption (30 g/week of pumpkin, 1-3 times weekly). Statistical analysis indicated significant relationships between family income (p=0.048, r=0.296), food availability (p=0.048, r=0.296), and consumption patterns (ρ=0.002, r=0.455) with wasting. The strongest relationship was found in food availability. Efforts are being made to increase awareness through health centers, encouraging mothers to utilize home yards for food production, enhancing food availability, and improving children's diets. Addressing these factors can help reduce the prevalence of wasting and promote better nutrition in toddlers.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition of hemoglobin or red blood cells below 7gr/dl. The government's efforts to encourage pregnant women to consume 90 Fe tablets during pregnancy have not achieved national coverage due to the absence of a monitoring and evaluation program that is direct to low attitudes and adherence. Therefore, it is necessary to design an effective strategy with a smart monitoring system to observe the attitudes and adherence of pregnant women in consuming Fe tablets. The study aimed to determine the effect of a smart monitoring system on attitudes and adherence to the consumption of iron supplement tablets in pregnant women in the work area of Puskesmas Klego 1.The type of research adopted quantitative with the pre-experimental method using the one-group pre-test and post-test design research design. The sampling used a total sampling technique with 50 respondents. Data analysis utilized paired T-test and Wilcoxon test to determine the effect of a smart monitoring system on attitudes and adherence. The analysis of the Paired T-Test presented p value = 2.61 (p = 2.61->0.05). It indicated no effect of the smart monitoring system on attitudes. The results of the Wilcoxon test analysis obtained a p-value = 0.000 (p = 0.00-<0.05. There are differences in the effect of using the smart monitoring system on the attitudes of pregnant women in the work area of Puskesmas Klego 1. Recommendations for further research are to enhance the application features.

Abstract

Burns are tissue damage due to contact with a heat source, such as fire, hot water, chemicals, electricity, or radiation. Burns are a type of trauma with high morbidity and mortality rates and require high treatment costs. In Indonesia, burns are still a serious problem that requires special care, high costs, and skilled personnel. Currently, burn assessments are carried out manually, which is time-consuming and the results are subjective. Treatment efforts include preventing infection and encouraging epithelial cell regeneration to close the wound. Therefore, innovation is needed in the form of a system that helps assess burns more effectively, including classifying wound tissue, measuring wound area, and monitoring wound development. The use of an Android-based system can provide more accurate measurements through a digital planimetry approach or image segmentation, which can identify wound boundaries and tissue types. Technology-based health applications, such as the "Degree of Burn" application, allow for more efficient calculation of burn area and fluid requirements. This study uses a literature review method from international journals, national journals, books, and conference results related to burn assessment to support the development of this system.

Abstract

The success of the National Family Planning (KB) Movement in encouraging increased community participation in building increasingly independent small families must be considered and even improved because this achievement is not evenly distributed. Likewise, what happened in the Patiluban Mudik Health Center work area where the number of Fertile Age Couples using KB was only a portion of the total number of Fertile Age Couples recorded up to May 2023, which was 514 PUS. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors that influence fertile age couples in terms of the use of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (MKJP) in the Patiliuban Mudik Health Center Work Area, Natal District, Mandailing Natal Regency in 2023. The research method is quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design approach. The study was conducted in the working area of Patiluban Mudik Health Center with a sample size of 92 people. The analysis used was Chi Square. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge and the use of MKJP (P value = 0.018 <0.05), there was a significant relationship between family support and the use of MKJP (P value = 0.0033 > 0.05). There was a relationship between parity and the use of MKJP (P value = 0.011 <0.05), The results of this study recommend that Patiluban Mudik Health Center be more intensive in providing counseling about MKJP so that the number of KB users, especially MKJP, can be increased and to find factors that influence PUS not to be willing to use the MKJP method.

Abstract

Background: Malaria is a global problem and it’s incidence increasing every year. Malaria caused by several factors such as gender and age. Men are more at risk of malaria than woman and adults are more affected by malaria than children and the elderly. Methods: This study used observational analysis method with Cross-Sectional approach with total sampling technique, with 754 samples that fit the inclusion criteria. The data was analized with Chi-square test correlation analysis, and Risk metode to determine the Prevelence ratio value, and also the contingency coefficient test. Results: The most positive RDT results were found in men (62.4%) and (53.1%) were found in adult with the results of the chi-square test on the gender variable and RDT results obtained a value of p-value = 0.00 (p < 0.05) and OR = 14.9 (CI 95% 5,845-38,032) which means there is a relationship between gender and the incidence of malaria and men have a high risk of malaria 14.9 times greater than women. The results of the age variable test with the incidence of malaria using Coefficient Contingency with Spearman Correlation obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05) with an r-value = 0.194. These results indicate that there is a relationship between age and malaria incidence rates with a very weak correlation value. Discussion: man and adults are more affected by malaria due to outdoor physical activity, immune system influences, and hormonal system influences. Adults are more often affected by malaria due to lifestyle and daily activities.

Abstract

Hypertension in pregnancy has a significant impact on maternal and fetal health. It can lead to complications such as placental abruption, organ failure, intravenous coagulation, preeclampsia, preeclampsia to become eclampsia, risk of intrauterine development, premature birth and intrauterine death. The treatment of gestational hypertension may be either pharmacological or non-pharmacological in nature. Non-pharmacological therapy for the treatment of hypertension in pregnancy may employ the use of ginger and temulawak. This study was conducted at BPM Suryani. The population comprised all pregnant women at BPM Suryani, numbering 154. The sample consisted of pregnant women with gestational hypertension, numbering 34. The recommended dose of dried temulawak and ginger is 25 grams, boiled in 200 ml of water until 100 ml of boiled water is obtained. The boiling time is 2-5 minutes. The temulawak and ginger are administered once a day for one week. At the outset of the study, the blood pressure of pregnant women with gestational hypertension was ascertained. Following the administration of temulawak and ginger, the respondents were again subjected to monitoring of their blood pressure. The data were analysed using a statistical test, namely the t-test, which is a paired sample t-test. A significant relationship was observed between systolic and diastolic blood pressure values before and after the administration of temulawak and ginger (p-value <0.05). The average difference in systolic blood pressure before and after the intervention was 5.82 mmHg with a p-value on systolic blood pressure of The p-value was 0.000 (p-value <0.05) for systolic blood pressure and 0.026 (p-value <0.05) for diastolic blood pressure. These findings suggest that the content of temulawak and ginger can be used in reducing blood pressure in pregnant women with gestational hypertension.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a fairly important period for health workers to always monitor because less than optimal implementation can cause the mother to experience various problems, and can even lead to postpartum complications. Among the causes of maternal death, infection is the second most common cause of death after bleeding. The type of research used was descriptive, namely, to determine the mother's knowledge about postpartum visits. The sampling technique used in this study was total sampling. The total population is a sampling technique in which the total number of samples is the same as the population (Sugiyono 2010). Thus, the sample in this study was the entire population of postpartum mothers-form January to August 2024 in the Gunung Tua Health Center work area, totaling 34 people. Based on the data analysis conducted, it is known that the majority of respondents' knowledge is in the lowers category, (38.2%). This is understandable, considering that the majority of respondents' education was in the basic education category, (44.1%). Education is a formal and non-formal activity in an effort to develop a person's mindset, personality, and abilities, both inside and outside of school, as well as life experiences that last a lifetime. The majority of the respondents' knowledge was in the sufficient category, (17.6%). This is understandable, considering the majority of respondents' ages in the 21-35 year category, namely (47.0%). Most respondents' knowledge was in the insufficient category, (20.6%). This is understandable, considering that the majority of respondents' jobs were in the unemployed/housewife category, (44.1%). Every health worker, especially midwives, should be able to provide counseling to mothers regarding the importance of visits during the postpartum period.
