Abstract

Not all waste from natural materials produced can be utilized properly by humans to produce higher economic value. The waste in question is red dragon fruit skin which contains anthocyanin pigments and betasianin pigments. Pigments can be used as colorants in lipstick but the intensity of the resulting color is less attractive. This study aims to determine the lipstick combination of Red Dragon fruit peel extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) and Beet tuber extract (Beta vulgaris L.) most preferred by panelists as a natural colorant. The method used in this study was experimental. Preparation of Red Dragon fruit peel extract and Beetroot tuber extract using maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. Then the extract was made into 3 lipstick preparation formulas at a concentration of 30% with a ratio of 1: 2 (X1), 1,5 : 1.5 (X2) and 2: 1 (X3). Hedonic tests include texture, color, aroma and appearance of lipstick preparations using a Likert scale. The combination lipstick produces color and percentage of liking, namely purple and preferred by 43.75% (X1), pink with 51.25% hedonic percentage (X2), and the most preferred by 58.75% (X3) with a dark red color, while the negative control has a yellow color with the smallest liking value of 28.75%.

Abstract

Stunting generally occurs in children who have not received nutritious food intake. Sources of nutrition are not only sourced from animal protein but can also be sourced from plants. Combining high-protein foods from animal and vegetable sources will reduce stunting rates in growing children. Snack bars are a beneficial food product that provides all the essential nutrients for the body. In addition, probar consumption in Indonesia is still relatively low, and some people don’t even know it exists. These snacks are high in usable energy and contain essential nutrients. This study aims to determine the free radical-catching activity of Granola Bar Functional Food with Cork Fish and Beetroot Fruit as Supplementary Food to Prevent Stunting. Free radical scavenging activity test was conducted using the DPPH (1,1- diphenyl- 2-picrylhydrazyl) method using quercetin as the comparative compound. Antioxidant activity analysis was performed using a spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 512 nm.

Abstract

Kolang-kaling fruit in topical preparations increase its effectiveness as an antioxidant. The peel-off gel mask is as an effective topical preparation for skin health and user comfort. Its formulation is determined by quality parameters, particularly forming a plastic film of PVA and CMC Na as polymers. This study aims to determine the effect of these combination and the ratio of both concentrations based on the physical characteristics and IC50 value. The optimization on the simplex lattice design was obtained in 8 runs with PVA concentrations (10% -15%) and CMC Na (0.5% -5.5%). The pH value, spreadability, adhesion, drying time, and IC50 were used as parameters to determine optimal formula. The results showed that the difference in PVA and CMC Na concentrations had a significant effect on all optimization parameters (p-value <0.05) and the lack of fit for each replication was not significant (p-value> 0.05). The optimal formula obtained PVA concentration of 14.97% and CMC Na 0.53% with a predicted pH of 5.55; adhesion of 6.63 seconds; spread power of 20.34 cm; drying time of 18 minutes, and IC50 of 25.5 ppm (desirability of 0.954), which is not significantly different from the observation results indicating the optimization is valid.

Abstract

Administering multiple intravenous (IV) preparations through a single catheter line can lead to incompatibility issues, such as precipitation. Precipitation can be avoided with sufficient knowledge by nurses during the administration of IV preparations to patients. This research aims to assess nurses' knowledge and management of incompatibility issues in IV pharmaceutical preparations. This non-experimental research collected data through interviews with healthcare professionals (nurses). The research was conducted at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. A total of 14 healthcare professionals (nurses) who reconstituted and administered IV pharmaceutical preparations to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) participated in the research. The results revealed that 13 nurses (92.9%) encountered incompatibility incidents with seven types of drugs. Five nurses (29.4%) reported incompatibility issues with cefoperazone. The most frequently observed incompatibility was color change, reported by seven nurses (53.8%), such as white spots appearing during phenytoin reconstitution and discoloration in IV pharmaceutical preparations of cefoperazone and ceftriaxone. The most common approach to addressing incompatibility was replacing the preparation, reported by six nurses (46.2%). The management of incompatibility issues varied among nurses, even when dealing with the same pharmaceutical preparation. Therefore, training on sterile preparation incompatibility should be provided to all healthcare professionals to establish a standardized operational procedure (SOP) for handling incompatibility in IV pharmaceutical preparations.
