Abstract

This study explores the historical evolution of translating the meanings of the Holy Qur'an into the Bengali language. It delves into the methods and challenges faced in this translation process, highlighting the significance and impact of making religious texts accessible to a wider audience in Bangladesh. Through a historical analysis of the different translation stages, from the early 19th century to the present day, this research emphasizes the role of Bengali translations in shaping Islamic understanding and Tafsir among Bengali-speaking Muslims. The findings shed light on how these translations have influenced religious practices and promoted a deeper understanding of Islam in Bangladesh, while also identifying the need for continued efforts to ensure accuracy and faithfulness to the original Arabic text.

Abstract

Man as a caliph on earth was created by Allah in perfect form, but man is never free from emotional challenges such as the inferiority complex, which can hinder his spiritual and social development. The Qur'an calls for people not to feel this way, but also prohibits them from hitting the threshold that makes them arrogant, analysis is needed to find out the answer to how the mufassir interprets the verses related to the inferiority complex? And what are the limits of behaving so as not to have an inferiority complex attitude and not to result in arrogance? This study focuses on the analysis of mufassir's interpretation of Qur'anic verses related to the theme of inferiority complex, with the aim of understanding the boundaries of attitudes between arrogance and inferiority. This research is a literature review with a qualitative approach. The results of this study show that the mufassir emphasize that true strength lies in faith, solid faith is the initial key in overcoming the sense of inferiority complex, inferiority complex is the spiritual part of human beings and spiritual studies sourced from the Qur'an are the initial stages in fighting the inferiority complex. Allah commands His servants not to feel weak because they are created in the best form by Allah, with physical, intellectual, and spiritual virtues. Imam Qurthubi highlighted the importance of arousing enthusiasm and appreciating the privileges given by Allah without triggering behavior of superiority.

Abstract

Tafsir bil ma'tsur is a method of interpreting the Qur'an based on authoritative sources such as the Qur'an, hadith, opinions of companions, and tabi'in. In the Abbasid era, this method developed rapidly along with the increasing attention to the science of interpretation and codification of hadith. Imam At-Thabari was one of the leading figures who lived in the Abbasid era when science developed rapidly. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of Imam At-Thabari's interpretation in interpreting the Qur'an. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach. The data collection techniques used are documentation techniques and reading techniques. The results of this study indicate that tafsir bil ma'tsur in the Abbasid era experienced more mature methodological developments, especially in the aspects of criticism of sanad and the selection of stronger narrations. The influence of its methodology was very significant in the Abbasid era, which became the main reference for subsequent interpreters and formed the standard in the tradition of interpreting the Qur'an. This study contributes to the understanding of the evolution of tafsir methodology in the golden age of Islam and its relevance to the development of contemporary studies.

Abstract

The era of digitalization with access using fingerprints has very important aspects in various fields. This study aims to describe the relationship between human fingerprints and scientific interpretation from the perspective of Zaghlul an-Najjar and the STIFIn method. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach. The data collection techniques carried out are documentation techniques and literacy techniques. The data analysis used is content analysis. The steps used are to select, compare, combine, and sort various meanings until relevant data is found. The data validation technique used is source triangulation. The result of this study is the correlation of Zaghlul an-najjar's perspective which focuses on the interpretation of 'ilmi with the interpretation of patterns that seek to reveal the relationship between the kauniyah verses in the Qur'an and the field of science to show the truth of the miracles of the Quran. The perspective of Zaghlul an-najjar Fingerprints in Q.S Al-Qiyamah verse 4 is the relevance of miracles developed by modern science in the late 19th or early 20th century. Zaghlul interprets that fingerprints are human identities that will not be the same for each individual and are also under the verse of human creation. Meanwhile, the STIFIn method is an alternative approach to analyzing human intelligence based on fingerprints and brain dominance. STIFIn has five intelligence components: Sensing, Testing, Intuiting, Feeling, and Instinct. STIFIn is used to understand one's potential, the STIFIn method can help a person choose a more appropriate learning style, career, and self-development. In practice, the STIFIn method has implications according to the Islamic concept, namely Human Fitrah (QS. Ar-Rum: 30), the uniqueness of human beings (QS. Al-Hujurat: 13), and Psychology in Islam.

Abstract

The Integration of Knowledge has become significant in addressing modern scientific developments, particularly the relationship between science and religion, as secular values influence these sciences. Indonesian universities' scientific paradigm tends to focus on theoretical and philosophical foundations. However, al-Tafsir al-'Ilmi, an Islamic study, examines the relationship between religion and science, specifically Qur'anic verses and empirical sciences. This research aims to: reveal the concept of Tafsir al-'Ilmi according to Zaghloul El-Naggar, whose comprehensive approach aligns with modern scientific developments; and uncover the theory of Integration of Knowledge in Tafsir al-'Ilmi according to him. The research employs Syed Mohd Naquib Al-Attas's Integration of Knowledge theory to read Zaghloul El-Naggar's concept philosophically and applicatively. Using qualitative methods, primary, and secondary data analysis, the Integration of Knowledge according to Zaghloul El-Naggar is found to be based on Syed Mohd Naquib Al-Attas's cosmological principles, including tafsir and ta'wil. Muhkamat verses are understood through tafsir, while mutasyabihat verses through ta'wil. The principles of tafsir also apply to understanding natural phenomena, consisting of muhkamat (clear) and mutasyabihat (ambiguous). Al-tafsir al-'ilmi classifies clearly true scientific facts as muhkamat, while theories, hypotheses, and ongoing discoveries are classified as mutasyabihat.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the dichotomy of Islamic Religious Education with general learning in junior secondary education in Integrated Islamic schools which today are increasingly seen in the world of education, especially Islamic education. The method used in this study is qualitative phenomenology. The collection method was carried out by observation, documentation, and interviews. To obtain the validity of the data, it is tested with validity and data analysis which includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawn. The planning guide is a combination of the official curriculum and the JSIT curriculum consisting of the Independent and INTEGRATED Curriculum Learning Implementation Plan (Exploratory Study, Formulate, Presentation, Apply Duniawi Ukhrawi). The implementation of learning integration is in the classroom delivered by general subject teachers to provide understanding and awareness to students about the learning integration materials of PAI, Qur'an and General Sciences. This integration is synergized in supporting programs such as masta (student ta'aruf period), mabit (night of faith and taqwa development), dauroh (training), BPI (Islamic Personal Development), worship habituation. The analysis method in this paper adopts the basic principles of value education in Islam, namely monotheism, science and morals, which is based on the scientific integration between general science and religious science (non-dichotomous). The integration of Islamic values in general subjects is manifested in the learning pattern of PAI and Qur'an Science which comprehensively (integral-holistic) respects the existence of general subjects as general sciences and Islamic studies as religious sciences while responding to the needs of society and families. In its implementation, the learning heeds the values of monotheism, stimulates the continuous search for knowledge and pays attention to the moral and noble aspects of students.

Abstract

Islam is one of the religions with the largest number of adherents in the world. Muslims, although they come from diverse backgrounds, are united by the teachings of the Qur'an which was revealed in Arabic. To meet the needs of understanding for non-Arab Muslims, translating the Qur'an into various languages is important, but must still maintain the authenticity and sanctity of the original text. One of the English translations of the Qur'an that is considered authentic and neutral is the work of Marmaduke Pickthall, a convert from England. In his work The Meaning of the Glorious Qur'an (1930), Pickthall uses a literal approach with a classic English style ala the King James Bible. The goal is for Western readers to feel familiar and be able to understand the text with a similar spiritual nuance. This study is a literature review (library research) with a qualitative method that aims to examine Pickthall's translation approach, the challenges he faced, and the influence of his work on English-language Islamic studies. The results show that although his translation has been criticized for its archaic language style and extreme literal tendencies, Pickthall's work remains an important reference and has made a major contribution to building bridges of cross-cultural understanding.

Abstract

In Islamic heritage, three perspectives are presented regarding the incident of the moon splitting (Inshiqaq al-Qamar). Two of these perspectives affirm the event as a miraculous sign supporting the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), a view supported by most Islamic scholars. On the other hand, the rationalist minority considers the incident as a symbolic reference to apocalyptic signs linked to the Day of Judgment. This study adopts a comprehensive and impartial approach to analyze the arguments of both sides. Ultimately, it supports a purely Qur'anic perspective, identifying the moon splitting as synonymous with the "Khusuf al-Qamar" mentioned in Surah Al-Qiyamah, marking it as one of the signs and precursors of the Resurrection.
I'jaz in the Qur'an through the Use of the Word Bayt to Designate the Ka'aba Before its Rebuilt by Quraysh: Lessons for the Revivification of the Awqaf Knowledge Belabes, Abderrazak Said

Abstract

The aim of the research is to highlight the inimitability of the Qur'an through the use of the word Bayt, over a long period, to designate what has become known as Ka'aba. Initially, the building had a rectangular shape, with a semi-circular shape on the north side, since Ibrahim had rebuilt it with the help of his son Isma'il. The cubic shape dates back to five years before the advent of Islam when Quraysh had rebuilt it after it was partly destroyed by a torrential rain. Hence the name Ka'aba which means cube in Arabic. This explains why the use of the word bayt in the Qur'an, under different forms, is more than five times greater than that of Ka'aba. This i'jaz of the Qur'an in the judicious choice of words that accord with proven historical facts is paramount in the Revivification of the Awqaf Knowledge. The word Bayt refers to the House of Allah as a Habs, that is, something that remains under the Mulk (Sovereignty) of Allah. This is the case by extension for any place of worship as al-Bukhari mentions through one of his titles in his Collection of Authentic Ahadith. In this regard, the word Bayt is deeper than that of Ka'aba, because it contains strata of meaning that are not found through the word Ka'aba, and allows, consequently, to link things that the word Ka'aba does not allow, by immersing us in the deep history of humanity in its innate state which pushes to sincerity of worship for Allah. Thus, in terms of the organization of life, in the beginning was the Rizq of Allah, which generated the building of the Bayt as a Habs, then came the Ma'ash to provide for those who visit it to worship Allah, and the 'Umran following the grouping of people to dwell around the House of Allah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the parables of worldly life that are likened to water in the Qur'an. using semantic and scientific approaches. This parable, found in Surah Yunus (10:24), Al-Kahf (18:45), and Al-Hadid (57:20), conveys an essential message about the transient nature of life to prevent humans from being deceived by temporary pleasures. This research is a library study employing a descriptive-analytical method, with data collected from primary and secondary sources. The semantic approach is used to uncover the meaning of worldly life in the Qur'an, while the scientific approach examines the characteristics of water mentioned in the related verses. The findings reveal that the Qur'an highlights the similarities between worldly life and water, both being impermanent, rapidly changing, and significantly impactful when utilized properly. These similarities emphasize the temporary and dynamic nature of worldly life, urging humans to reflect upon its reality and avoid indulgence in arrogance and excessive enjoyment. Despite its findings, this study has limitations, and further research is encouraged to explore the parables of worldly life in the Qur'an with a more comprehensive semantic and scientific approach.
