Lamahu: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Terintegrasi (Lamahu, P-ISSN: 2828-6839, E-ISSN: 2828-6677) is a peer-reviewed journal published by Department of Earth Science and Technology, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Lamahu provides open access to the principle that research published in this journal is freely available to the public to support the exchange of knowledge globally. Lamahu published two-issue articles per year namely February and August. Lamahu provides a place for academics, researchers, and practitioners to publish scientific articles. Abstract

The digital transformation of education requires school libraries to evolve into technology-based learning resource centers. However, library management at SD Muhammadiyah 16 Palembang was still dominated by conventional administrative practices, limiting the effectiveness of library services in supporting teaching and learning activities. This community service program aimed to optimize school library management through digital-based management training for library personnel. The program was implemented through five stages: needs assessment, training, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The training covered digital library management, the use of the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), digital collection management, literacy promotion, and the integration of digital learning resources into library services. Program evaluation was conducted using observations, interviews, documentation, and pre- and post-training assessments. The results showed that participants' competencies improved significantly, with 80% of participants able to operate digital library applications and apply digital management practices in library services. The program also encouraged the development of more effective, accessible, and interactive library services, strengthening the role of the school library as a technology-supported learning resource center.

Abstract

Conventional marketing practices, limited digital literacy, and the underutilization of digital media continue to constrain market expansion and competitiveness among fishery product processors. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen the digital marketing capacity of Poklahsar Camar Laut members through a participatory approach involving needs assessment, training, mentoring, and evaluation. Program effectiveness was assessed using pre- and post-training evaluations, observation of digital media utilization, and technology adoption indicators. Results showed a substantial increase in participants’ knowledge, from approximately 30–40% before training to 80–90% after the intervention. Technology adoption reached 80%, digital marketing understanding 90%, independent digital media management 70%, promotional content consistency 60%, and program sustainability 70%. The program improved participants’ ability to manage social media, create promotional content, and utilize digital platforms for marketing communication and customer network expansion. These findings indicate that practice-based mentoring effectively supports the transition from conventional to digital marketing, contributing to enhanced marketing capacity, wider market access, and the sustainability of fishery-based businesses.

Abstract

The limited managerial capacity of the administrators of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative in Nekmese Village has become a major challenge in establishing effective and sustainable cooperative governance. This community service program aimed to strengthen cooperative governance by improving the administrators’ competencies in financial management and member services. The program was conducted through a participatory approach consisting of needs assessment, training, interactive discussions, and technical mentoring involving cooperative administrators, supervisors, and village officials. The training covered cooperative governance principles, financial administration, organizational management, strategic business planning, and member service improvement. The implementation results showed increased understanding among participants regarding financial recording, preparation of work plans, organizational governance, and strategies for developing cooperative business units based on local resources. Participants also demonstrated improved awareness of the importance of transparency, accountability, and member-oriented services as the foundation of sustainable cooperative management. The activity further identified the need for continuous mentoring, institutional strengthening, and digital-based administrative support to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the cooperative. Overall, the program contributed to enhancing the managerial capacity of cooperative administrators and provided a practical foundation for strengthening the institutional performance of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative in Nekmese Village.

Abstract

This community service program supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 by improving community access to alternative water resources through rainwater harvesting. The program aimed to implement an Appropriate Technology-Based Rainwater Harvesting System (RHS) in Modelidu Village, Telaga Biru District, Gorontalo Regency, using a participatory community empowerment approach. Activities were conducted over six weeks through community outreach, hands-on training, prototype construction, and post-installation assistance involving 50 community members. The implemented RHS prototype integrates a rooftop catchment system, a first-flush diverter, a multi-layer natural filtration unit, and a modular storage tank with a base capacity of 250 L that can be expanded to 1,000 L. Initial observations showed that the system achieved a rainwater collection efficiency of 70–80% and filtration performance up to 10 μm, while improving participants’ knowledge and practical skills in operating and maintaining the system. Harvested rainwater was utilized for non-potable domestic purposes, including washing and plant irrigation. The program demonstrates that integrating appropriate technology with participatory community empowerment provides an effective, affordable, and replicable solution for strengthening household water security in rural communities.

Abstract

Urban waste management remains a major challenge, particularly in densely populated residential areas where waste generation continues to increase while source-based waste management practices remain limited. This community service program aimed to strengthen community capacity in waste management through waste bank-based education at the Andalas Sepakat Waste Bank Unit, RT 02/RW 04, Andalas Subdistrict, Padang Timur District, Padang City. The program employed a community participatory approach involving education, technical assistance, and the introduction of appropriate technologies. The activities included waste savings schemes, household-scale organic waste treatment using solar biodigesters, organic waste bioconversion with Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots, and the production of eco enzyme from household organic waste. The implementation demonstrated that waste bank activities can be integrated with appropriate technologies to support household waste management while expanding the educational role of the waste bank within the community. Program evaluation also identified that member participation remains a challenge for sustaining community-based waste management initiatives. These activities indicate that integrating environmental education, community participation, and appropriate technologies provides a practical approach to strengthening sustainable waste management at the neighborhood level.

Abstract

Strengthening teachers' competence in implementing student-centered learning is essential for supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. However, Indonesian language instruction at MI Firqoniah and MTs Furqoniyah Gandus was still predominantly conducted using conventional teaching approaches, limiting students' active participation and creativity. This community service program aimed to improve teachers' understanding, skills, and readiness to implement Inquiry Based Learning in Indonesian language instruction. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of preparation, training sessions, discussions, lesson planning workshops, mentoring, evaluation, and follow-up activities. The program was conducted on 20–21 June 2025 and involved 25 teachers from MI Firqoniah and MTs Furqoniyah Gandus. Evaluation was carried out using a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, documentation, and reflective discussions focusing on participants' attendance, engagement, conceptual understanding, lesson-planning skills, and readiness to implement Inquiry Based Learning. The results indicated that all participants actively engaged in the program, demonstrated a clear understanding of the concepts and instructional procedures of Inquiry Based Learning, successfully developed inquiry-based lesson plans, and expressed readiness to apply the approach in Indonesian language classrooms. The program contributed to strengthening teachers' pedagogical competence in designing more active, innovative, and student-centered learning while providing a foundation for sustainable professional mentoring within schools.

Abstract

The construction of the Bener Dam as a National Strategic Project has caused major socio-economic changes in Guntur Village, Purworejo Regency, following the loss of approximately 90% of agricultural land that compelled many residents to shift to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This community service program aimed to strengthen MSME capacity through branding, digital marketing, and structured mentoring to support sustainable local economic resilience. The program involved 18 MSME actors and one Joint Business Group (KUBe) and was implemented through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation included MSME identification, branding and digital marketing workshops, and biweekly mentoring, while program effectiveness was assessed using pretest-posttest instruments, field observations, and business progress monitoring. The program resulted in the establishment of six new MSMEs and one KUBe, strengthened 12 existing MSMEs, improved participants’ understanding of branding and digital marketing, and expanded product promotion through social media. These outcomes demonstrate that structured mentoring combined with capacity-building activities effectively enhanced MSME competitiveness and supported the development of local flagship products. This approach provides a practical strategy for strengthening the economic resilience of communities affected by large-scale infrastructure development.

Abstract

MSME actors face business pressures, customer demands, limited resources, and dual-role responsibilities that can trigger stress and reduce the quality of decision-making. This community service program aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding and basic skills in emotional management and mindfulness as capacities that support psychological resilience. The program involved members of the Rumah Hasanah Bandung Community and employed an experiential learning approach through interactive lectures, discussions, guided practice, reflection, and role play. The training covered emotional concepts, emotion regulation techniques, mindfulness, wise mind, and what skills and how skills. Program effectiveness was evaluated using identical pre-test and post-test questionnaires, supported by structured observations and participant reflections. The results showed that the mean score increased from 2.80 to 4.32, representing a 54.3% improvement, with the greatest gains observed in participants’ understanding of how skills, what skills, and the distinction between wise mind and emotional mind. These findings indicate that the program successfully enhanced participants’ initial capacity to manage emotional challenges encountered in business activities. Continued mentoring and follow-up evaluation are recommended to encourage the consistent application of these skills and to assess their contribution to strengthening the psychological resilience of MSME actors.

Abstract

Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to risky behaviors that may adversely affect their physical, psychological, and social development. Preliminary observations at SMP Negeri 4 Amarasi Selatan, Retraen Village, identified students' vulnerability to bullying, early smoking experimentation, unhealthy dating, and irresponsible internet use, indicating the need for preventive educational interventions. This community service program aimed to enhance students' understanding of six adolescent risky behaviors, namely unhealthy dating, smoking, drug abuse, bullying, gender inequality, and negative internet use. The program was conducted in April 2026 involving 70 students using a participatory approach through interactive lectures, group discussions, educational videos, and role-play. Evaluation was carried out through observation, question-and-answer sessions, and reflective discussions. The evaluation indicated that students were able to identify various forms of risky behavior, explain their impacts, and propose appropriate prevention strategies in situations commonly encountered in daily life. The educational materials and learning media developed through this program can support school-based counseling services and character education as part of sustainable preventive efforts.

Abstract

Early childhood parenting is critical for supporting brain development and shaping children's cognitive, socio-emotional, and character development. However, many parents still rely on personal experience rather than scientific knowledge of brain development, indicating the need to strengthen parenting literacy through a neuroscience-based approach integrated with Islamic values. This community service program aimed to improve the parenting literacy of members of the Doro Branch of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (PCNA Doro). Twenty-one active members, consisting of mothers and prospective mothers, participated in a participatory educational program involving interactive lectures, group discussions, case studies, reflective learning, and the distribution of a Brain-Based Islamic Parenting leaflet. Program effectiveness was evaluated using a one-group pretest-posttest design and analyzed through descriptive statistics and a paired-samples t-test. The mean knowledge score increased significantly from 84.62 to 95.71, representing an improvement of 11.10 points (13.11%) (p 0.001). Participants also demonstrated greater understanding of emotional regulation, positive parent-child communication, and parental role modeling. These findings indicate that the program effectively strengthened parenting literacy and has the potential to be implemented as a community-based family education initiative.
