Abstract

This study examines the consistency of performing the Fajr prayer among third-semester students of the Physical Education Study Program, Faculty of Sports and Health, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, as an indicator of the implementation of piety (taqwa) values in the PETIK Physical Education curriculum (Professional, Empathy, Piety, Innovative, Creative). The study also analyzes the relationship between Fajr prayer habituation and students’ readiness to participate in lectures with a calmer and more focused mental state. This research supports the Diktisaintek Berdampak program, which emphasizes character strengthening through daily religious practices in higher education. A quantitative approach with a one-group quasi-experimental design was employed. The participants consisted of 98 third-semester students whose Fajr prayer practices were monitored over one semester (16 weeks) with an ideal frequency of 112 prayers. Monitoring was conducted through a WhatsApp group, where students reported the performance of the Fajr prayer within the time range of 04:10–05:45 WITA. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the total number of on-time Fajr prayers and classifying them into five levels of consistency. The results showed that 9.18% of students were categorized as very consistent, 38.78% consistent, 21.43% moderately consistent, 20.41% less consistent, and 10.20% very less consistent. Overall, 69.39% of students demonstrated a moderate to very high level of Fajr prayer consistency. These findings indicate that structured habituation of the Fajr prayer contributes positively to the implementation of piety values in the PETIK curriculum and supports the development of disciplined and well-prepared students.

Abstract

Concrete is a versatile construction material that has had a major impact on global reconstruction. This is because concrete is an important element in the formation of structures, due to its high compressive strength. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding trass to the compressive strength of concrete as a filler. The variations in trass addition were 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. In addition, this study also produced a product in the form of a practical guide for concrete construction based on fillers. The method used was laboratory testing with a concrete compression testing machine to determine the strength characteristics of each percentage Concrete mix. The materials used include cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, from PT. HPP HARMONIS Telaga Biru, and the trass used is Lompoto'o trass, Central Suwawa. The testing was carried out at the Civil Engineering Laboratory of Gorontalo State University. The results of the study showed that concrete with 0% trass had a strength of 25.93 MPa, 5% trass had a strength of 27.51 MPa, 10% trass had a strength of 24.37 MPa, 15% trass had a strength of 22.55 MPa, and 20% trass had a strength of 21.48 MPa. The conclusion is that the addition of trass will increase the strength of concrete at a certain percentage, and the effect of using trass in concrete as an additive causes an increase in the volume weight of concrete. In addition, the validity results of the developed guidelines showed a value of 83.4%, which falls into the good category, so it can be said to be effective in supporting concrete practical activities or concrete with trass additives.

Abstract

Creating dance requires movements vocabularies as well as the proficiency of choreographic technique.  The significant forms intent to present some visual codes or signs for the spectators to capture the hidden messages. Contemporary dance vocabularies can be obtained by elaborating visual codes that exist in everyday life, including codes used by the Deaf for communication.  Contemporary choreography using Bisindo is used as a medium for dance students to learn sign language, as part of their contribution to inclusivity at Gorontalo. This research implicates a qualitative phenomenological perspective on studio work that involve an artistic-based research as method in analysing the process of dance creation.  Referring to Hadley, Humphrey, Smith, and Lavender in organizing contemporary dance repertoires in the context of the Deaf – Hearing intersection, this research integrates the basic elements of Bisindo as prime movement vocabularies. The research completed the artistic process, but has not reach the choreographic construction to integrate the Deaf with her Hearing mates. The results of the research are a dance movement vocabulary based on Bisindo, an inclusive arts learning model, and a contemporary dance repertoire. The choreography process and a dance piece entitled ‘Tanda Tanda Berkata’ provide an artistic medium for dance students to learn basic sign language, thus it also bridge the communication gap with deaf friends.

Abstract

This study examines the implied meanings in three selected poems by Langston Hughes—“I, Too,” “The Weary Blues,” and “Harlem”—using Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory of signs. The study aims to identify how icons, indices, and symbols function in constructing meaning within the poems. A descriptive qualitative method with document analysis is employed to examine textual elements and semiotic relations. The findings reveal that I, Too predominantly utilizes indexical and symbolic signs to express racial exclusion, identity, and the demand for social recognition. The Weary Blues demonstrates the most complex semiotic structure, as it incorporates icons, indices, and symbols to convey musical expression, emotional suffering, and cultural resilience. In contrast, Harlem relies mainly on symbolic signs to represent the psychological tension and social implications of a deferred dream. Overall, this study confirms that Peirce’s semiotic framework effectively uncovers the implied meanings in Hughes’s poetry and illustrates how semiotic signs serve as a medium for articulating African American experiences and social criticism.

Abstract

Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is designed to flow and consolidate under its own weight without mechanical vibration while maintaining high workability. The properties of SCC are strongly influenced by the characteristics of fine aggregate. Stone ash, which has fine particles and a rough surface texture, has the potential to be used as a partial replacement for fine aggregate. This study investigated the effect of stone ash substitution on the compressive strength and fresh properties of SCC in accordance with the European Federation of National Associations Representing for Concrete (EFNARC) 2005 criteria. Stone ash was substituted at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the fine aggregate content. Fresh concrete tests included slump flow, T₅₀₀, J-Ring, and GTM Screen Ability, while compressive strength was tested at 28 days. The results showed that all mixtures met the slump flow, viscosity, and GTM Screen Ability requirements. However, the 5% variation showed less satisfactory performance in the T₅₀₀ test, and the 5%, 10%, and 15% variations were classified as Category III (poor) in the J-Ring test. Compressive strength increased at 5%, 10%, and 15% substitutions to 36.66 MPa, 35.80 MPa, and 35.94 MPa, respectively, compared to 30.19 MPa for the control mix. The highest strength was achieved at 5% substitution, representing a 21.43% increase. At 20% substitution, compressive strength decreased to 34.25 MPa. These findings indicate that limited stone ash substitution can enhance SCC compressive strength while maintaining acceptable fresh concrete performance.

Abstract

Indonesia has a high level of earthquake vulnerability due to its location within the Ring of Fire and at the convergence of three major tectonic plates. This condition necessitates the design of earthquake-resistant multistory buildings by considering stair elements that are integrated with the main structural system. Improper stair placement may affect structural stiffness and eccentricity and increase interstory drift, potentially leading to severe damage. This study analyzes the effect of stair position on the drift of reinforced concrete building structures using 3D modeling of three stair placement configurations from previous studies. Seismic load analysis employed the Time History Analysis method using three pairs of global earthquake records: Chi-Chi, Kobe, and El Centro. The analysis focused on evaluating interstory drift values to determine whether the stair placement configurations met safety standards. The findings indicate that stair placement significantly affects interstory drift. The Chi-Chi earthquake produced the largest interstory drift in Placement 3, particularly on the second and third floors, exceeding the allowable limit of 40 mm with values of 59.20 mm (X- direction) and 46.19 mm (Y-direction). This was followed by the El Centro earthquake, whereas the Kobe earthquake resulted in the smallest interstory drift for the same configuration, remaining below the allowable limit, with values of 27.54 mm (X-direction) and 24.15 mm (Y-direction).

Abstract

Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is a type of concrete capable of flowing and consolidating under its own weight without mechanical vibration, making it suitable for structures with dense reinforcement and complex geometries. The performance of SCC is highly influenced by its constituent materials, particularly fine aggregates, which affect both workability and compressive strength. This study investigated the use of Lompotoo trass as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in SCC and its impact on workability and compressive strength. Lompotoo trass was used at substitution levels of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the total fine aggregate volume. A superplasticizer, Sika ViscoCrete 3115 N, was added at 1.5% of cement weight. Workability was evaluated through slump flow, T500 flow time, J-ring, and GTM screen stability tests based on EFNARC (2005) standards, while compressive strength was measured at 28 days. The results showed that all SCC mixtures met the required workability criteria. However, the J-ring test indicated poor passing ability (Category III) for the 5%, 10%, and 20% variations. The highest compressive strength was achieved at 5% substitution, reaching 37.16 MPa, a 23.1% increase compared to the control mixture (30.19 MPa). The 10% and 15% substitutions also improved strength by 17.4% and 12.3%, respectively, while the 20% substitution resulted in a slight decrease of 1.26%. These findings suggest that Lompotoo trass is a promising material for partial fine aggregate substitution in SCC, contributing to improved performance and sustainable concrete development.

Abstract

The use of pozzolanic materials, such as silica fume and Lompotoo trass, aims to enhance concrete performance while reducing the use of sand as a fine aggregate. Lompotoo trass is a material with a high fineness, making it suitable for partial substitution for fine aggregate. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding silica fume and varying the percentage of Lompotoo trass as a partial substitution for fine aggregate on the compressive strength and workability of concrete. The testing was conducted by producing four mix variations: normal concrete and concrete with partial substitution of Lompotoo trass for fine aggregate at 25%, 50%, and 75%. Each variation of Lompotoo trass substitution was combined with the addition of 10% silica fume. In general, changes in concrete characteristics were observed across all mix variations. The slump value showed a decreasing trend as the percentage of Lompotoo trass substitution increased. On the other hand, the compressive strength of normal concrete of f’c 30.34 MPa increased to f’c 32.16 MPa at 25% trass substitution, f’c 32.97 MPa at 50% substitution, and reached f’c 36.65 MPa at 75% substitution. These results indicate that the use of Lompotoo trass combined with silica fume enhances the compressive strength of concrete, although it is accompanied by a reduction in workability.

Abstract

Efforts to sustainably improve the resistance, growth and yield of soybean plants can be carried out through the use of elicitors. This study aimed to determine the effect of various types of elicitors and their interactions on two soybean varieties, as well as to identify the most elicitor type for enhancing the growth and yield of soybean plants. The experiment was conducted from May to July 2025 in Iloheluma Village, Tilongkabila Subdistrict, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. A Split Plot Design was employed with elicitor types as the main plots : E0 (no elicitor), E1 (Siam weed, Billygoat-weed, Stonebreaker, Indian copperleaf, and White leadtree), and E2 (Devil’s horsewhip leaf, Gliricidia leaf, Green chiretta, Guava leaf, and Senna tora). Soybean varieties Dega 1 (V1) and Grobogan (V2) were assigned as subplots. The results showed that elicitor types had a significant effect on the growth and yield of soybean plants, as indicated by plant height at 28 days after planting (DAP), number of leaves, 100-seed weight, and dry shelled yield per plot. In contrast, varietal treatments had no significant effect on soybean growth and yield. Moreover, there was no ineraction between elicitor types and soybean varieties across all observed parameters. The best elicitor 2 for supporting soybean growth and yield was Elicitor 2, consisting of Devil’s horsewhip leaf, Gliricidia leaf, Green chiretta, Guava leaf, and Senna tora.
