Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Healthy School Program at SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo, focusing on program types, stakeholder involvement, and implementation strategies. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Informants consisted of the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students involved in school health activities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that the program was implemented through five focuses: nutrition health, physical health, immunization health, mental health, and environmental health. Implementation involved the principal as policy coordinator, teachers as facilitators, students as active participants, and parents as supporters of healthy habits at home. The program was carried out through planning, routine activities, collaboration with health services, and continuous monitoring. The study concludes that the program supports a cleaner, safer, and healthier learning environment, although documentation, success indicators, and stakeholder collaboration still need strengthening.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze teachers’ strategies in improving students’ learning discipline at SDN 5 Kabila, Bone Bolango Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of three classroom teachers and a principal selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers implement four main strategies to improve students’ learning discipline, namely habituation, advice, reprimand, and educational sanctions. Habituation becomes the most dominant strategy because it is consistently integrated into daily learning activities. Advice and reprimand function to strengthen students’ awareness regarding the importance of discipline, while educational sanctions serve as corrective consequences to prevent repeated violations. The effectiveness of these strategies is influenced by internal factors such as students’ learning motivation and external factors including family and social environment. Therefore, consistent, integrated, and contextual strategies are needed in accordance with students’ characteristics. This study contributes to strengthening the literature regarding teacher strategies in fostering learning discipline in primary education through a qualitative contextual perspective.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Into the Wild represents anti-modernism through the character of Christopher McCandless. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using the sociology of literature approach to analyze how social conditions, family background, and personal experiences influence the main character’s rejection of modern values. The data were collected from the film’s script, scenes, and dialogues, supported by relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that anti-modernism is represented through Christopher McCandless’s rejection of material success, career ambition, institutional identity, and rational planning. His perspective develops gradually as a result of emotional conflict, family instability, and dissatisfaction with modern social structures. The contrast between Annandale as a structured suburban environment and Alaska as a natural and isolated setting highlights the tension between modern institutional life and the search for authenticity. The study also identifies key anti-modernist elements, including criticism of modern society, pessimism toward material values, appreciation of nature, resistance to institutions, and rejection of rational control. The study concludes that anti-modernism in the film functions both as a critique of modern life and as a reflection of its consequences, showing that complete withdrawal from society may lead to isolation and vulnerability.

Abstract

Coastal tourism in Pohuwato Regency has significant potential to support community economic development, while also requiring environmental management that involves active community participation. This article aims to examine the role of social capital in encouraging pro-environmental behavior in coastal tourism areas, particularly at Pohon Cinta Beach. The study employed an integrative literature review method. A thematic search across Google Scholar, the SINTA portal, and Garuda for the 2021–2026 period yielded around 60 records, which were screened and reduced to 22 peer-reviewed national and international journal articles, supplemented by several seminal theoretical sources on social capital, environmental sociology, and coastal tourism governance. The results indicate that trust plays a role in strengthening collective action and supporting the acceptance of community-based environmental programs. Social norms derived from local wisdom and religious values ​​also shape informal environmental control mechanisms. In addition, social networks involving Pokdarwis (tourism groups), village institutions, NGOs, and universities contribute to expanding community access to knowledge, cooperation, and resources to support environmental management. The reviewed literature also indicates several aspects that need to be strengthened, such as increasing environmental literacy, strengthening inter-institutional coordination, optimizing funding support, and developing more integrated management mechanisms. Therefore, strengthening social capital through the utilization of local wisdom, developing institutional collaboration, and increasing community environmental literacy are important parts in supporting sustainable coastal tourism management in Pohuwato Regency.

Abstract

Land cover change in watersheds is not merely a biophysical or technical process, but a socially negotiated outcome shaped by market dynamics, policy frameworks, and power relations. This conceptual study synthesizes existing literature and policy documents without conducting primary fieldwork; it relies entirely on secondary data to construct a motivational typology. This study aims to analyze community motivations underlying land cover change using an environmental sociology perspective, with the Molamahu sub-watershed in Gorontalo as a case study. The research adopts a qualitative case study design based on secondary data, including policy documents, scientific publications, and thematic reports on dryland livelihoods and socio-cultural dynamics. Data were analyzed thematically by integrating three analytical frameworks, namely the distinction between proximate and underlying drivers of land change, structuration theory to interpret agency and structure relations, and the livelihoods approach to examine household strategies. The findings reveal six main motivational pathways, namely livelihood security, economic accumulation, tenure reinforcement, social network influence, policy incentives, and ecological rationality based on risk perception. These pathways interact dynamically and often ambivalently, simultaneously encouraging agricultural expansion and enabling conservation practices such as agroforestry when supported by appropriate incentives and institutional arrangements. This study proposes a typology of motivations and highlights policy implications that frame watershed management as an arena of environmental justice, emphasizing equitable cost-benefit distribution, strengthened local institutions, and secure land tenure.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ critical thinking skills through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Social Studies for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 27 seventh-grade students, comprising 11 male and 16 female students. Data were collected through Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based essay tests designed according to critical thinking skill indicators aligned with the learning topics. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model effectively improves students’ critical thinking skills. This is evidenced by the increase in students’ average scores in each learning cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, the average score of students’ critical thinking skills was 64, categorized as low. After the implementation of PBL in Cycle I, the average score increased to 73, categorized as moderate. Furthermore, in Cycle II, the average score improved to 82, categorized as high. These findings demonstrate that the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills and encouraging more active participation in the learning process.

Abstract

Learning under the Merdeka Curriculum is student-centered and therefore requires active student participation in the teaching and learning process. However, in practice, students tend to be passive and show limited interaction, resulting in low learning engagement and, consequently, low learning outcomes in Class X at State Senior High School 1 Pinogaluman. This study aims to examine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving student engagement in Informatics, specifically on the topic of Information and Communication Technology. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The subjects consisted of 30 students divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, each comprising 15 students. The findings indicate that the Project-Based Learning model has a positive impact on student engagement. This is evidenced by the higher average score of the experimental group, which was taught using PjBL, achieving 67,33%, compared to the control group, which achieved an average score of 51,33% without the implementation of PjBL. The use of the Project-Based Learning model encourages students to be more actively involved in learning, while students in the control group tend to be more passive. Based on the significance test results, the Project-Based Learning model has a statistically significant effect on student engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ efforts in fostering students’ learning motivation at SDN 2 Bone. The research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to gain an in-depth understanding of teachers’ experiences and practices in the learning process. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers of grades IV, V, and VI, and students from each grade, selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings reveal that teachers foster students’ learning motivation through several key strategies: connecting learning materials to students’ real-life experiences, demonstrating enthusiasm in teaching, creating a pleasant and non-threatening learning environment, building psychologically safe classrooms, utilizing evaluation as a reflective tool, and providing opportunities for students to express their potential. These strategies effectively enhance students’ engagement, confidence, and learning enthusiasm. This study concludes that students’ learning motivation is developed through consistent, student-centered instructional practices. The findings provide practical implications for developing more effective teaching strategies to enhance learning motivation in primary education.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the presence of social attitude problems among elementary school students, such as lack of cooperation, low empathy, and impolite behavior. Therefore, the role of teachers is crucial in fostering students’ social attitudes. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in developing students’ social attitudes at SD Laboratorium UNG. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The subjects included the principal, teachers, and students of grades III, IV, and V. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results show that teachers play a significant role in fostering social attitudes through modeling, habituation, guidance, and reinforcement. The social attitudes developed include honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, cooperation, politeness, social care, and self-confidence. Overall, students’ social attitudes show positive development, although some students still require further guidance. Thus, fostering social attitudes should be carried out continuously and integrated into all learning activities.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Android-based interactive learning media on the topic of color elements in graphic design and to determine its feasibility level. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the Four-D (4D) model, which consists of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The subjects of this study were tenth-grade students of the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) program at SMK Negeri 1 Batudaa. Data were collected through questionnaires involving media experts, material experts, and student responses. The results showed that the developed learning media achieved a high level of feasibility, with instrument validation results of 77% (feasible), media validation of 95% (very feasible), and material validation of 100% (very feasible). In addition, the student response test results showed a percentage of 82%, which falls into the very feasible category. This learning media is equipped with materials, videos, simple simulations, and interactive quizzes that can increase students’ interest and understanding. Therefore, the developed interactive learning media is considered feasible to be used as an alternative in graphic design learning.
