Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning motivation through the implementation of the Game Based Learning (GBL) model in Civic Education (PKn) for fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Botupingge. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the model of Stephen Kemmis and Robin McTaggart, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 12 students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative and quantitative approaches by calculating the percentage of students’ learning motivation achievement. The results showed that the implementation of the Game Based Learning model significantly improved students’ learning motivation. The initial motivation level was 8%, which increased to 42% in the first cycle and reached 92% in the second cycle. This indicates that most students achieved a high level of learning motivation. The implementation of Game Based Learning proved to be effective in creating an engaging, interactive, and student-centered learning environment. Therefore, this model can be used as an alternative instructional strategy to enhance students’ learning motivation in Civic Education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Public transportation plays an important role in supporting community mobility and economic activities. One of the transportation modes that is still widely used by the public is the Intercity and Interprovincial Bus (AKAP). The success of bus transportation services is determined not only by the operator's ability to provide vehicles but also by the quality of services delivered to passengers. Passenger satisfaction is an important indicator in evaluating transportation service quality because it is closely related to customer loyalty and service sustainability. This study aims to analyze passenger satisfaction with the service quality of AKAP buses operating on the Gorontalo–Kotamobagu route at Dungingi Terminal and to identify service dimensions that require improvement. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 65 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was developed based on the five SERVQUAL dimensions, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Data were analyzed using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and GAP analysis to measure the discrepancy between passengers’ perceptions and expectations. The results indicate that all research instruments were valid and reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values greater than 0.60. The GAP analysis revealed negative values across all service dimensions, indicating that the quality of service has not fully met passenger expectations. The tangibles and reliability dimensions showed the largest service gaps. Furthermore, the Customer Satisfaction Index value was 76.47%, which falls within the satisfied category. Nevertheless, improvements in service quality are still required, particularly regarding physical facilities, travel comfort, and departure punctuality.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged innovation in information delivery in the field of education, one of which is through the utilization of Virtual Reality (VR). This study aims to develop a VR-based information media as a means of introducing the environment and facilities of SMK Negeri 1 Boalemo and to analyze users’ responses to the developed media. The method used in this research is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), which consists of the stages of concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and questionnaires involving 15 students as respondents. The results showed that the developed VR application was able to present the school environment in the form of interactive and immersive 3D visuals. Testing on various devices indicated that the application operated optimally on smartphones with a minimum specification of 6 GB RAM and gyroscope sensor support. The questionnaire results revealed that the majority of respondents gave ratings in the “very good” category with a percentage of 87%, particularly in aspects of appearance, ease of use, clarity of information, and level of attractiveness. Therefore, the developed VR-based information media is considered effective and feasible to be used as a supporting tool in introducing the school environment and enhancing a more engaging and interactive learning experience.

Abstract

Early-age marriage remains one of the legal issues encountered in the implementation of the minimum age requirement for marriage as stipulated in Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning the amendment to Law Number 1 of 1974 on Marriage. This study aims to examine the implementation of the rehection of early age marriage at the Office of Religious Affairs (Kantor Urusan Agama/KUA) of  Modo District, Lamongan Regegency, as well as the obstacles affecting its implementation. The research method employed is empirical juridical research, combined with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were obtained throught interviews, observation, and documentation, and were subsequently analyzed by linking the applicable legal provisions with the empirical conditions found in the field. The resluts of the study indicate that the KUA of Modo District has implemented the rejection of early-age marriage in accordance with the provisions of the prevailing laws and regulations through the examination of administrative reqirements and the issuance of the Marriage Rejection Letter Model N7 for prospective brides and grooms who have not met the minimum age requrement for marriage. The implementation of marriage rehection still faces several obstacles, including the low level of legal awareness among the comunity, inconsistencies in population administration data, and the strong influence of local culture, which continues to tolerate early-age marriage and unregistered marriage. It can be concluded that the implementation of the rejection of early-age marriage at the KUA of Modo Disctrict reflects the application of the principle of legality and legal protection for childern. However, its effectiveness still requires support through the improvement of public legal understanding and the strengthening of thr administration system.

Abstract

Landfills represent a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions arising from the anaerobic decomposition of organic material that is not managed at source. This literature review departs from the sociological premise that waste management is fundamentally a social problem before it becomes a technical one that ecological values, community norms, social capital, and local wisdom determine waste management effectiveness far more profoundly than infrastructure availability alone. Using environmental sociology as the primary analytical framework, this review examines reputable references from the Scopus database, international institutional reports (World Bank, IPCC), and local empirical studies in Gorontalo. Discussion is organized around three major sociological themes: (1) biospheric values, social identity, and determinants of community pro-environmental behavior; (2) social norms, social capital, and the role of Huyula local wisdom in collective environmental management in Gorontalo; and (3) sociological implications for the design of pre-landfill waste management programs. Synthesis findings indicate that the absence of ecological value internalization and the discontinuation of community socialization constitute the sociological root causes of increasing landfill burdens. Conversely, communities with internalized biospheric values, rooted sorting norms, and structured social capital such as the Huyula tradition in Gorontalo possess substantially greater capacity to realize effective and sustainable pre-landfill waste management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in addressing students’ verbal misconduct at State Elementary School 1 Limboto, Gorontalo Regency. The study involved 10 informants consisting of the principal, 3 homeroom teachers (grades IV, V, VI), and 6 studentsd. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students as informants. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that forms of verbal misconduct found include mocking peers, using inappropriate language, interrupting conversations, and chatting during the learning process. The factors causing students’ verbal misconduct originate from both internal and external aspects, such as lack of parental attention, social environmental influences, and weak supervision and character development. The role of teachers in addressing verbal misconduct is implemented through providing role models, character building, persuasive approaches, positive reinforcement, and collaboration with parents and the school. With consistent and collaborative teacher involvement, verbal misconduct can be minimized, and a conducive learning environment can be established.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze community participation in village development in Saluan Village, Moilong District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi Province based on Cohen and Uphoff’s participation theory, which encompasses decision-making, implementation, benefit utilization, and evaluation stages. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving village government officials, members of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), and community members of Saluan Village. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that community participation has occurred throughout all stages of village development, although the level of involvement remains uneven. In the decision-making stage, participation was reflected through attendance at Village Development Planning Meetings (MusrenbangDes), submission of development proposals, and responses to development programs. However, participation was influenced by limited public awareness and the dominance of certain groups in deliberative forums. During the implementation stage, participation was mainly demonstrated through labor contributions in mutual cooperation activities and the Cash-for-Work Program (PKT). In the benefit utilization stage, community members utilized development outcomes to support their social and economic needs. In the evaluation stage, participation was manifested through the provision of feedback, criticism, and suggestions as a form of social control. The study concludes that community participation has been present across all development stages, but greater involvement in decision-making is needed to achieve more participatory and sustainable village development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Environment-Based Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in science learning at MIM Unggulan Kota Gorontalo. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of contextual learning processes. The research subjects consisted of the principal, science teachers of grades IV, V, and VI, and students. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of environment-based CTL has been carried out through seven main components: modeling, inquiry, questioning, learning community, constructivism, reflection, and authentic assessment. The learning process utilizes the surrounding environment as a learning resource, such as direct observation of plants and leaves, which encourages students’ active participation. This implementation positively impacts students’ conceptual understanding, learning engagement, and critical thinking skills. However, several challenges remain, including limited student participation in questioning activities and the need for strengthening teachers’ instructional strategies. In conclusion, environment-based CTL serves as an effective alternative approach to improving the quality of science learning processes and outcomes at the elementary school level. This study contributes to the development of contextual, innovative, and environment-based learning strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning motivation through the implementation of a reward system in science learning for fourth-grade students at SDN 5 Kabila. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 23 students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. Data analysis used percentage techniques to measure students’ learning motivation individually and classically, with the success indicator defined as at least 80% of students achieving a high level of learning motivation. The results showed that the implementation of the reward system significantly improved students’ learning motivation. In the initial condition, only 17.4% of students had high learning motivation. After the implementation in Cycle I, motivation increased to 65%, but it had not yet reached the success indicator. In Cycle II, students’ learning motivation increased to 91%, indicating that most students had achieved a high level of motivation. In conclusion, the implementation of a well-planned and consistent reward system is effective in improving students’ learning motivation in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the discovery learning model in improving students’ critical thinking skills in science learning at SDN 10 Limboto. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers, and students of grades IV, V, and VI. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the implementation of the discovery learning model was carried out through the stages of stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization. This model encouraged active student engagement and contributed to the development of critical thinking skills, including the ability to provide explanations, formulate strategies, conduct observations, process information, and draw conclusions. The development of critical thinking skills was found to progress across grade levels. However, the implementation has not been fully optimal due to several challenges, such as differences in student abilities, uneven participation, and limitations in processing and communicating information. Therefore, the discovery learning model has the potential to improve students’ critical thinking skills, although its implementation requires further optimization to achieve more effective outcomes.
