Abstract

The household reality commonly referred to as “husbands fearing their wives” in Indonesia reflects a shift in domestic power structures and reveals a form of reversed gender dominance. Within a society deeply rooted in patriarchal values, this shift indicates that household communication functions not merely as a medium for message exchange, but also as a space for negotiation and symbolic contestation between male and female roles. This study aims to conceptually examine the mechanisms of reversed gender dominance in marital communication by employing Social Dominance Theory as the main theoretical framework. The research uses a literature review method, analyzing various academic sources, including scholarly journals, books, and previous studies, that discuss issues of gender communication, power relations, and spousal dynamics within the Indonesian cultural context. The findings suggest that gender dominance within households is relational and dynamic, influenced by social, economic, cultural, and communicative factors between partners. The “husband fearing his wife” phenomenon should not merely be understood as a cultural form of humor, but as a reflection of the transformation of values and power structures in modern society. Through the lens of Social Dominance Theory, this dynamic can be interpreted as a communicative adaptation to social change and the growing awareness of gender equality within contemporary Indonesian families

Abstract

This study aims to design a sustainable raw material procurement system for SMEs producing fish based food products, particularly otak-otak processors in Tanjungpinang, in response to declining fish supply and production instability that threaten business continuity. A quantitative descriptive approach was applied through benchmarking and SEM-PLS analysis to identify the most influential economic, social, and environmental factors in shaping the system design, referring to LKPP Regulation No. 157 of 2024. Data were obtained from 40 SMEs using questionnaires, interviews, and field observations. The results show that economic elements such as life cycle costing and production planning remain weak and therefore need to become priority components in the system design. In contrast, social and environmental dimensions perform well, particularly in community involvement, waste management, and eco friendly packaging, making them a strong foundation for developing the system. The analysis also highlights green suppliers and alternative sourcing as critical gaps that require strengthening through supplier evaluation mechanisms, long-term partnerships, and supply diversification. Based on these results, the study formulates a sustainable procurement system that aligns supplier selection, raw material planning, and environmental social compliance into one integrated framework. The design emphasizes clear procurement standards, measurable supplier performance indicators, and structured collaboration within the supply chain to secure raw material availability while minimizing environmental and social risks. This system provides a practical roadmap for SMEs to shift from reactive purchasing to strategic and sustainability-driven procurement, strengthening operational resilience and long term business viability.

Abstract

This study explores the use of politeness strategies in English talk shows from a pragmatic perspective, focusing on how hosts and guests manage face-threatening acts (FTAs) in public, semi-formal communication settings. Drawing on Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness theory, the study analyzed 276 utterances from three selected episodes of three popular talk shows: The Ellen DeGeneres Show (featuring Michelle Obama), The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (featuring Selena Gomez), and The Graham Norton Show (featuring Adele). Each utterance was categorized according to four politeness strategies: bald on-record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off-record. The findings reveal that positive politeness emerged as the most frequently used strategy (51.4%), reflecting the need to establish friendliness, reduce social distance, and maintain audience engagement in entertainment-oriented public discourse. Negative politeness accounted for 24.6%, followed by off-record strategies (13%) and bald on-record strategies (10.9%). These results suggest that politeness in media discourse serves not only interpersonal functions but also supports genre conventions and audience expectations. This study contributes to pragmatics and media discourse by providing empirical insights into how linguistic strategies are adapted to manage face, engage audiences, and construct public persona in talk show interactions.

Abstract

Geoboard learning media is a visual and manipulative tool that is effectively used in mathematics learning, especially on the material of the perimeter of flat shapes at the elementary school level. This study aims to determine the effect of using geoboard media on students' ability to calculate the perimeter of flat shapes at the Kampung Bharu Malaysia Guidance Center. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test experimental design. The research sample consisted of 9 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through tests on the ability to calculate the perimeter of flat shapes, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' abilities after the application of geoboard media, indicated by a significant difference in pre-test and post-test scores based on a paired t-test (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Geoboard media helps students understand the concept of side length, the shape of flat shapes, and the procedure for calculating the perimeter in a concrete and visual way, so that learning becomes more interactive and meaningful. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of geoboard media has a positive and significant effect on improving the ability to calculate the perimeter of flat shapes.

Abstract

Tourism is an important sector in supporting national economic development. The Mandalika Kuta Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Lombok has been developed as a leading tourist destination based on sustainable tourism, cultural attractions, and halal tourism. However, despite its great potential and numerous awards in halal tourism, the number of tourist visits to Lombok declined in 2019. This condition highlights the importance of improving tourist satisfaction through high-quality travel experiences. This study aims to analyze the influence of cultural attractions and halal tourism on tourist satisfaction, with tourist experience serving as a mediating variable in the Mandalika Kuta SEZ. This research adopts a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to tourists visiting Mandalika Kuta. The data were analyzed using path analysis to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results are expected to show that cultural attractions and halal tourism have a positive effect on tourist experience, which in turn significantly influences tourist satisfaction. These findings are expected to provide useful insights for destination managers and local governments in formulating tourism development strategies oriented toward enhancing tourist experience and satisfaction.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital era, social media platforms such as Twitter or X have become strategic public spaces for students to express their views, experiences, and criticisms regarding various aspects of academic life. One of the most frequently discussed topics is related to academic assignments, including their workload, relevance, and contribution to students’ understanding of course material. The spontaneous expressions shared on social media contain valuable data that can be scientifically analyzed, particularly to capture students’ perceptions and sentiments toward the learning process. Therefore, sentiment analysis represents a relevant and systematic approach to identifying patterns of student opinions in a measurable and data-driven manner. This study employs a quantitative approach using machine learning methods, specifically the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm, to analyze student sentiment toward academic assignments expressed on the Twitter/X platform. The quantitative approach was selected because it enables the objective processing of numerical data and facilitates statistical interpretation of emerging patterns. Data were collected from student tweets related to academic assignments and subsequently processed through several stages, including text preprocessing, feature extraction, and sentiment classification into positive, neutral, and negative categories. The results indicate that the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm is capable of classifying student sentiment with an accuracy rate of 85%, demonstrating that this method is sufficiently effective for sentiment analysis in an educational context. The sentiment distribution reveals that 30% of students expressed positive sentiment, perceiving academic assignments as relevant and challenging, while 40% showed neutral sentiment. Meanwhile, the remaining 30% conveyed negative sentiment, indicating that assignments were perceived as excessively demanding and less relevant to the learning process. These findings provide important insights for educators and educational institutions in evaluating and designing academic assignments that are more effective, balanced, and aligned with students’ learning needs.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Ahmad Dahlan’s interpretation of Al-Ma'un as a foundation for revitalizing national character education through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) with an emphasis on social jurisprudence (fiqh sosial) at SMA Labbaik Lahat. The research is motivated by the urgent need to strengthen students’ national character in the face of globalization, growing individualism, and declining social concern among young people. Contextually read by Ahmad Dahlan, Surah Al-Ma'un underscores the necessity of translating Islamic teachings into tangible social actions, including care for the marginalized (dhuafa), social justice, and humanitarian responsibility, which strongly align with the aims of national character education and the high-school social fiqh curriculum. Employing a qualitative case study design, the study collected data through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers and students, and document analysis of learning materials and school programs. Data were analyzed using thematic procedures consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings demonstrate that integrating Al-Ma'un-based thought into social fiqh instruction strengthens students’ national character values, such as religiosity, social empathy, mutual cooperation, responsibility, and concern for the social environment. Learning activities move beyond a merely normative understanding of fiqh by promoting value internalization through social practice, including acts of care, sharing initiatives, and the habituation of prosocial attitudes in the school context. The study concludes that Ahmad Dahlan’s conception of Al-Ma'un is both relevant and effective as a pedagogical foundation for revitalizing national character education within PAI learning grounded in social jurisprudence at the senior secondary level.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing use of e-commerce in Indonesia, particularly Shopee, which has become one of the most popular online shopping platforms. Shopee offers numerous advantages such as a wide variety of payment methods, attractive promotions, and fast delivery services. However, the platform still faces challenges in service quality and complaint handling, which can negatively impact user satisfaction. Therefore, the aim of this research is to examine the influence of service quality and trust on user satisfaction among Shopee users in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents who are active users of the Shopee application. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, t-tests, F-tests, and multiple linear regression analysis to test the hypotheses. The findings indicate that both service quality and trust significantly influence user satisfaction. These variables, both partially and simultaneously, contribute positively to users’ overall satisfaction with Shopee. Service quality aspects—such as responsiveness, reliability, and ease of use—along with trust factors—such as platform credibility and transaction security—play a critical role in shaping user perceptions and satisfaction. These results highlight the importance for e-commerce platforms like Shopee to continually improve service delivery and build customer trust as key strategies to enhance user experience, encourage customer loyalty, and remain competitive in the dynamic digital marketplace.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a major driver in the empowerment of the global economy, including in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector. However, amid the rapid development of digital technology in Indonesia, the Hindu community still faces challenges in accessing digital markets and funding that is in line with their spiritual and social principles. This research aims to develop an e-commerce and crowdfunding based economy digitalization model that is integrated with Hindu values, especially Seva (social services), Punia (generosity), and artha_dharma (proper prosperity) to support the independence and economic welfare of Hindus in Indonesia. The results of the study show that digital platforms, if designed contextually, can be a strategic means in increasing market access, expanding funding, and strengthening the competitiveness of Hindu MSMEs. The integration of Seva and Punia principles not only strengthens the social legitimacy of digital economy practices, but also creates an ethical, inclusive, and sustainable business ecosystem. This research contributes to the development of a community economic model based on religious values in the digital era. The research data in this study was carried out by distributing research questionnaires to 165 MSMEs in Bali Province with predetermined sample criteria. This research was conducted using the survey method. All Exogenous variables consisting of Economic Digitalization, E-Commerce Use, Crowdfunding have been proven to have a positive and significant direct influence on the Endogenous Variables (Economic Empowerment). This shows that the influence of digitalization in increasing economic empowerment has been greatly felt by MSMEs, on the other hand, the application of E-Commerce in business development models, including marketing, also has a good impact on the empowerment of the MSME Economy, in addition to the Crowdfunding factor which does have a good impact on MSME capital access. The understanding of Hindu values directly also has a very good influence, the better the understanding of MSMEs about the concept of Hindu values, the more economic empowerment will increase. The Moderation hypothesis (interaction) for the three paths (Economic Digitalization, Use of E-Commerce and Crowdfunding) has not been able to moderate interaction to MSME Economic Empowerment. This is because MSME actors of Hindu values function as a strong predisposing factor or internal motivation for the ummah to be active in economic empowerment, not as a condition that strengthens the impact of programs or external factors (Economic Digitalization, Use of E-Commerce and Crowdfunding). These values are already the main driver, so their influence does not need to be mediated/moderated.

Abstract

Customer engagement transformation is a key aspect in developing digital transformation strategies in today's workplace. This paper aims to present an analysis of critical success factors (CSFs) that influence customer engagement transformation within the context of digital transformation strategies. The research methodology involves a combination of in-depth case studies of several organizations that have successfully implemented digital transformation strategies with a focus on employee engagement. Customer surveys, interviews with organizational leaders, and internal document analysis are the primary instruments for data collection. This paper will discuss the implications of using the latest technology, digital collaboration platforms, and supportive leadership approaches in achieving customer engagement transformation. We will also explore the impact of factors such as work-life balance, skills development, and organizational culture on the success of transformation strategies.
